Poll Skyrim vs The Witcher 3? (109 votes)

Skyrim 27%
The Witcher 3 62%
Don't know 11%

In my opinion, Skyrim is one of those games I could never get into. The bugs and bizarre system was meh for me.

The Witcher 3 was at a whole level. The story as jaw dropping, the visuals top notch, everything of The Wither 3 is perfection.

Witcher 3 easily, not even close. Vastly superior game to Skyrim.

Definitely The Witcher 3 but it's kind of unfair to compare 2015's GOTY, which came out this gen, to a game from last gen that came out in 2011 but just won't go away lol. I like just about everything better in TW3 though such as the music, the world, the lore, and the storyline as well

Skyrim let's you make new characters every time while Witcher forces you to stick to Geralt. That gives Skyrim a huge advantage over replay value. Ontop of that, Skyrim lets you do so many things too, like even becoming a ware wolf or vampire!

Although combat wise, they both struggle. Witcher forces you to stick and dodge constantly and Skyrim has you hack the same attacks repeatedly. Still I give Skyrim the upper hand since you have many more choices with weapons and magic spells.

The Witcher 3 for the story

Skyrim for gameplay and mods.

But Skyrim wins overall, the game has sold far more than Witcher 3 and when you can make a skit about a Echo and the game and have people go , i want this, you know you hit gold.

But its actually a downside as you don't feel emotionally invested to your character or his story. That's why Witcher forces you to use Geralt.

Easily Witcher 3. Better world, better story, better characters, better missions etc.

I couldn't get into Skyrim at all... became very mundane.

@needhealing:

Well, emotional investment goes more with what you wanted out of the game. Skyrim is a do-anything-you-want kinda game and centers around the idea of endless possibilities.

Witcher gives you freedom too but it centers around Geralt's life which is a make-or-break situation. If you can't get into Geralt's character then the rest of the game pretty much falls flat on its bum. I found myself in that situation. As great everything was in Witcher in terms of scale and presentation, I just didn't like Geralt as a character!

The Witcher 3 easily, Skyrim is a terrible game where all “do what you want” ends up being “nothing you do matters”...

@ghosts4ever: He doesn't move like a tank at all and the combat is fine. Its not groundbreaking but its better than the half assed fpp combat in Skyrim.

Skyrim with modding is a ton of fun.

Witcher 3 has terrible controls and you're stuck with low rent solid snake.

Skyrim maybe getting old, but even wearing dentures it eats pieces of shit like tW3 for breakfast. Since last gen I've heard people complain aboot Skyrim's combat, but tW3's combat makes Skyrim's combat seem like a symphony orchestra.

I honestly prefer Skyrim.

I felt the combat in The Witcher 3 was absolutely dreadful.
You may not believe this, but I actually liked the combat on the first one (which was almost "Neverwinter Nightsy") a whole lot more than this.

At least in Skyrim it's fun to snipe bad guys with a bow. Bosmer for life.

Skyrim is an FPS disguised as an RPG.

The Witcher 3 is a European game disguised as a North American one.

Skyrim is definitely the far better game to me. It's one of the few modern AAA games that I really love a lot.

I was hoping to love The Witcher 3 as well but it ended up being a huge disappointment to me and I think that it is very overrated. The Witcher 3 has way too many cut-scenes, it's RPG elements are weak, it doesn't offer the freedom that Skyrim offers, and it's combat is absolutely awful.

Skyrim's one of the biggest disappointments for me. My least favorite of a cherished series. It has its moments, but... let me put it this way: I slogged through 85 hours(!) or something and couldn't stand another minute. Went back to Morrowind and wished I'd just sunk those wasted hours elsewhere

@xantufrog: I got into Morrowind far too late with the RNG mechanics. I would have loved it years ago.

Just bought ESO and refunded it after an hour on Steam... The first "dungeon" would glitch and only show the base ground they built the dungeon on lol. Plus, shit Oblivion/Skyrim fighting.

@lundy86_4: yeah Morrowind has some super dated aspects. It probably helps to already love it, or erase some of those issues with with mods (The RNG stuff is a popular target for those). Believe it or not I like to play it with the au naturale combat, but I totally get the concern and I'm definitely in the "loved it from back then" category

@xantufrog: Man, my start in ESO got me into the beginning of Morrowind. I'll no doubt do it at some point, but friends cry about the awesomeness of Morrowind. Modding it may help me out.

Skyrim was so overrated. Terrible combat (apart from bow), boring story and a world that you couldn't really make an impact on no matter what you did.

Witcher 3: to all those complaining about the combat: git good lol.

Bugs and bizarre system? Skyrim? WTF its one of teh easiest to understand games, and I never encountered a single bug in it.

Skyrim wins by far, as it has much more interesting world and better skill trees.

W3 might be eye candy, but the game world is boring, and every character you meet along the way is boring too. And the skill trees in the game are full of pointless stuff...
