Sleeping Dogs rocks. Don't go by gamespot review, its highly underated game by scoring imo.Sleeping Dogs surpasses similiar and recent sandbox games as GTA IV, Saints Row 3, Yakuza 4, Just Cause 2 in all department.

PC version is best ( High Res textures, DX 11 support, completely optimised PC controls ).

PLUS POINTS.

1.Hong Kong and Triad scenario at its best as a John Woo movie

2.Awesome unlockables as a rpg ( moves, stats, vechiles, weapons)

3.Combat very satisflying ( meele to gun blazing)

4.Terrific story ( although very violent )

5.cool racing events ( Unlock Bikes to sports car to dominate HK streets)

6.Tons of varied side quests,sub quests,mini games,fashions.Lenghty campaign

7.Gorgeous looking and stylish game.Soundtracks (radio stations) are pretty slick

8.Addicting :P

Its easily one of the best games along with Max Payne 3, Mass Effect 3 and others released in 2012.

Agree or disagree?

No. Btw, even if was, 2012 is the worst year ever so that isn't saying much and Darksiders, GW2, MP3 are all way better than Sleeping Dogs.

My gripe with the game is the map. It seems relatively enclosed, the entire middle of the map is just nothing. In an open world game, the location is the most important to me, and it is a little lacking.

It has the best close-quarter combat system for any open world game. GTA V has a lot to prove with their sloppy mechanics.

I played AA and AC but I didn't like the combat system, it'is fluid but shallow.

Considering this has been an incredibly sh!tty year (and it looks like that trend is going to continue), that's not much of an accomplishment.

I played the demo. The shooting was awful and the combat was a lackluster copy of Batman.

The game deserves to sell millions if only just to stick it to Activision.

I disagree completely with your 1 and 4 points. They could have done far better with the story and concept.

Also the campaign isn't all that lengthy compared to other games in the genre

Inb4 I played the demo didnt like. lol. Just play the actual game before you weigh in.

Loving it so far, 20 hours in the game, and still going ofc. with most sides done. At least the port is smooth on pc unlike some other games.

Yeah the world is great but it's a little boxed in. Like you have almost no freedom to run around and do loads of crazy sh!t like you can in GTA. It's not a very vertical game

Even saying that though it's one hell of a game

2012 isn't impressive to begin with so I can see why even though it's most likely a fantastic game anyways.

I'm guessing the demo doesn't capture the spirit of the game because people who play the full game seem to be wild about it, but I thought the demo was pretty mediocre.getyeryayasout
The demo isn't even open world, that alone makes the full game a must try.

I had such a great time playing it. So happy I got off the fence and bought it. Finished the story, but still have tons of side stuff to do. It's my August sleeper like Deus Ex:HR.

Been playing for the last 2 or so days and i definitely do agree, it's the best game of 2012 so far. Better than DS2 for me and much much much better than Fall of Cybertron

Didn't like the demo, but later went ahead and got the actual full game. It's one of my favorites games of 2012, the demo doesn't do this game any justice at all.

It was a solid game but nowhere near GOTY. Also, the campaign was all but lengthy. Certainly a good game though.

John Woo movies usually have average to bad stories. The story in Sleeping Dogs seems about average, it's meh.

However, the combat is fun, along with so many varied activities. It is a pretty sweet game, and the graphics look pretty good on PC.

And ME3 kind of sucked.

I would say it's a hell of a year for underrated games, it's not a year of blockbusters but I have to say I've found a lot of underrated games so far this year (Sleeping Dogs, Binary Domain,KoA,Dragon's Dogma and a few others).

The game reminds me of Shenmue alot, the setting, learning moves, the combat....etc.

What makes it standout from open world games ( especially modern settings ) is two major factors I always wanted to be perfected in GTA.

1- Melee combat system is the best in any open world game, better than Assassins Creed and on par with the Batman games, i prefer Sleeping Dogs combat, it's more challenging.

2- Driving mechanics is amazing, I've always wanted the handling and feel of arcade racers in open world games and Sleeping Dogs is the first game to offer that.

Shooting mechanics are great too.

There are some flaws ( like glitches here and there, invisible walls in some areas, lack of aircrafts so far I didn't see any type of aircrafts ) but they are overshadowed by the Hong Kong setting, story and the almost flawless gameplay mechanics.
