It has 97,4% after 22 reviews. No game except for Oot had such a great score after that number of reviews.. SMG hitting below 95% seems next too impossible especially since GS didn't do a TP too remind everyone of how much extra money they can generate on the extra visits if they give the game a bad score.
I'm still shocked this is happening. Yeah, SMG is the greatest thing since the orgasm, but still, I didn't expect anything to approach Ocarina. This is nuts.

I cant see any kind of reputable review site giving it less than a 9 at all. Of coruse im sure some fanboy will make one just for this purpose lol.
Still only one score below a 95. Wow. This is better off than I thought it would be by now. I still don't think it has a chance at overtaking OoT. The later reviews are the cynics. They will be the ones to give it more 9s and even some scores in the 8s.

I really wouldnt say ownage at all, it will be intersting though. Out of curisoity what kind of statistical methods do they use? Like do they elimiate outliers?

You think these are the "harsh" sites? Many of the sites that have reviewed the game already are the big sites who are victims of hype and are almost obligated to give it a high scrore. There are GOING to be sites(coming soon) who will not review it highly just because they think it's "overrated", "kiddy", "bad graphically", etc.
It doesn't even have to be under 9 to bring down the average. A 9/10 will bring down the average.

OoT was not perfect in any way. Except timing.
Perfect is the wrong word when describingany game. OoT was the best game for it's time and is the best game now imo. We saw how the replica, Twilight Princess, did in trying to best OoT; failing miserably. I doubt SMG will either.

Well, it wasn't perfect, nothing that is made by humans is. But it is the best game ever made, I've played through it 20 times or so and I still enjoy it.
That's completely irrelevant to me. Ocarina of Time is one of the best games in its genre and Super Mario Galaxy is one of the best games in its genre. Both are two completely different types of games; if Ocarina of Time was a platformer, then maybe I would be more interested in this ongoing war in score averages. But as it stands, both are astounding games and I won't compare them since they're are two very different astounding games.
Hopefully Mario Galaxy can overtake OoT. Oot IMO was boring--I didnt play games for 2 years after being forced by a friend to play through it. On the other hand Mario Galaxy is such a fun game, that is so unique that it does deserve that ranking.Â
it should already be #1. IMO, no game with less than a certain number of review should even be counted. how can any game expect to hang with a game that got less than 10 reviews? It's retarded.
There's only 24 reviews. There should be somewhere between 50-100 reviews (I'm betting more on the 100 end) before it will be done. Most other games in the top 10 are only there because there are only a small amount of reviews that have reviewed them so high. When there's more reviews, it will go down unless virtually all reviewers give it 100%, and that doesn't seem to be happening. In fact, there's more reviews in the 90% range for SMG than there are for the 100% range. So you can bet it will almost certainly go down.
