Is the charged stuff not a part of PSN? I think it is. And, it's really only a matter of time. Sony realized all the revenue that they lose by not charging, and this is the first step. There will be a game that you will want to play early in a beta and that will be when people start paying.

Well now both lemmings and cows can say that they both pay for something they shouldn't have to in the first place. Sony is making you pay for demos and what not which are absolutely free on XBL. Where as Sony people get to play online for free while 360 owners don't. So basically it goes hand in hand.

They are still demos. Who cares if you get them early or not, its a damn demo. Thats the whole purpose in a demo is to try it out before you actually spend any money on the product.

Why should it be free? Gaming magazines aren't free. That is essentially what this is... an HD video gaming subscription. It's supposed to provide an inside look into people's favorite games. And if you don't want that inside look.... then you don't have to pay for it! Better yet... only check out episodes that are covering games you're actually interested in. It's a great idea and I look forward to seeing what they have to offer. Who's going to not be interested in exclusive interviews and behind the scenes videos of their favorite, or most anticipated games???

So it's an addition to PSN, that is charged. And, Qore, is just a start. And honestly, it's probably only early demos and beta content for now. I do pay for Xbox Live, and if Sony charged for PSN, the content might just be half as good. Sony just opened their eyes. Soon, if anything online play will be the only free thing you can do on the PS3. Another just wait. Whats to keep them from only allowing players to play demos if they pay for this, Qore?

Everything is still the same, this is like paying for Playstation based video magazine.

This goes back to what I said about XBL in a recent thread criticizing XBL fees. Things like XBL and Qore can't happen unless there is a defined, predictable revenue stream attached. XBL provides much of the same content on a daily basis through Inside Xbox, Xbox.com and the Marketplace, but you don't have to subscribe to get the content, because the cost is subsidized from all of the XBL Gold members' fees.

Quite frankly, I think Qore is a great idea. I also think that if Qore is successful, Sony will definitely leverage it into a broader premium service, and it will eventually get to the point where using PSN without Qore will be a very dull experience indeed.
