Current game consoles are X86 PCs with AMD X86 CPUs and GPUs.
Semi-custom Linux X86 can be installed on certain PS4 firmware version and existing Radeon GCN driver with new Vulkan API support still works on it. There's few changes with south-bridge and HDD being connected to USB controller. The basic APCI HAL configuration on PS4 still exist in some form.
Linux 4.10-rc2 kernel and recent AMDGPU-PRO 16.50 driver was known to work with PS4 and Bonaire driver/firmware (GCN 1.1) was working with PS4's GPU. Bonaire firmware still recognize PS4's GPU as GCN version 1.1 compatible unit.
It's possible to boot Windows on PS4 IF UEFI firmware can be presented as a boot environment and HDD connected to SATA controller.
PS4's GPU has been confirmed to be Bonaire GCN version 1.1 generation.
Even with Vulkan API support, PS4's CPU is a bottleneck.

Shhh. He's trying to justify his console purchase because he's obviously a shareholder(or pretend) for Microsoft and Sony, so his wallet will(probably not) see huge gains.
Pretty sure Nintendo will end up winning the show, but with pc as a close second, mainly because the showing from Sony and Microsoft was beyond dreadful! I mean besides indies, was any new games besides metro and the bioware game(which both looks great btw, but are multiplats) announced at all??
On the plus side, it seems that Sony might have learned their lesson and stopped announcing games decades before they are released!!

Yes and that's why I invested in the PC and I am happy that MS is uniting Xbox & W10. I will keep my XBS for the 4K Bluray player and I will keep my PS4 for Spiderman & GoW. Other than that it's all PC baby!

Ronbot had some unexpected glitches in his 3.1 version and we haven't been able to roll them back. Basically he just posts 280% more irrelevant info than in the last version.
We're working on a patch, but we might just roll it out with the next season pass which will also include a sarcasm detector.

They sell better on console because most people just want the basic experience and want something cheap and simple. Publishers have long marketed games for consoles due to piracy and other reasons. How often do you see a TV commercial for a PC game? Have you ever seen a commercial for a new Nvidia video card? People have been led to console because the big players wanted it to be so. Things are changing though.
The core gamers care about quality and want options. The big publishers are taking notice and better supporting PC. PC offers the best quality and has the largest selection of games. More and more people are being exposed to PC and PC gaming is growing. As a gamer, I am concerned about the quality of the game and not how many copies it is selling on my platform of choice. In terms of sales, all I care about is that it sells well enough so the developer sees it as a viable platform for releasing more games.

Valve is probably the only company in the PC industry with a broad enough store and library that could have marketed a system directly with consoles while offering something enticing enough to get PC players on board too...but hat would require some exclusives, rather they prefer the hands off approach to everything, comfortable with store sales alone.

Everyone has a different perspective on what quality is and some have such high expectations it's absurd on trying to please them. PC didn't win shit at E3 cause most of the games shown were ether multiplats or console games. That doesn't mean PC didn't have anything good cause Banner Lord looks like its taking the series into the right direction and this is coming from someone who honestly didn't like the first few.
As someone who games on consoles and PC it's a waste of time trying to set a bar for games cause you never know what can please you, hell look at the top 10 played games on steam and you'll know why PC has been doing so well these past few years and it's not games like Tekken 7 which people praise the PC port and it being the best version when it barely holds 9,000 players a day.
You may not care about sales but in the end of the day, when a game sells more the chances we get a sequel or another game from a developer increases.

@Ballroompirate: You said it yourself, most of the games are multiplats. So, the PC wins by default as it offers the best quality. That is the reality of today. Exclusives are fewer and no longer have the impact they once did. I primarily play on PC because it is the best, but I also own the consoles for exclusives. I wouldn't waste money on consoles if I wasn't forced to buy them for exclusives. I can use my PC to play at the best quality and performance with a monitor/ TV, couch/desk, controller/KB+M, whatever.... PC does it all. Consoles are redundant and their traditional closed and proprietary nature is anti-consumer. Thankfully, MS is bringing their games to PC and that is one less console I have to waste money on.
