So i've re-bought broken sword for the DS because i don't remember anything from the PS1 version. And all i have to say is wow, this is such an awesome title and it has aged very well! I've came to the conclusion that point and click is probably one of my favorite genres in the gaming industry simply because it has a different type of storyline, along with the fact that it's still a pretty intense genre despite it's slow-pace character. So i want to to know what's the best point and click game IYO.

The Curse of Monkey Island or Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. Both are at the pinnacle of the genre.

The Longest Journey (personal favorite), Monkey Island 3 (Curse of Monkey Island), Grim Fandango. The Broken Sword port is surprisingly good and added a lot of content even for a DS port, I never got far in the original since on PC it didn't turn out too great on my modern rig, so this port was a great way for me to actually get down to playing through it. One of my favorite genres by far.

I clicked on this expecting to say Diablo 2, but then realized you was talking DS. While I do have a DS, I can't really help with what you ask.

1. Diablo isn't point-and-click, it's hack-and-slash/RPG. 2. He isn't just talking about DS games.

I wonder how the Wii version of Broken Sword is holding up? Do you know if it's much different then the ds version? I'm thinking of picking this game up soon actually.

point and click adventures are so much fun. It's not my favourite genre, and there are some classics i haven't been exposed to.. but the ones i've played have been excellent.
I loved hotel dusk and zack and wiki, both are excellent games! Of course neither are good enough to be considered among grim fandango, day of the tentacle and so on.. i just think they both are really unique and deserve to be recognised.

Anyways.. i suppose i'd have to go with Grim Fandango for the best. But, like i said above, there are some good ones i've not played(monkey island for instance)

I played Space Quest 4 when I was like 7, and it was so confusing back then. :( Pretty awesome when I went back to it later though.

Pojnt and click is a mechanic not a genre. By that regard World of Goo and Diablo 2 still count.

Yes, and usually when people refer to adventure games as well, they mean point and click games, since most other "adventure" games involve some sort of fighting, making them action adventure.

Being wrong and pointing out a minor "flaw" in the topic title isn't any better. It should have been incredibly obvious what he meant.

I have played it, thanks, but it is not a point-and-click game. The term "point-and-click" doesn't refer to all games that have pointing and clicking in them.

Well it's not like I can add anything to the topic, The only point and click adventure I've played is Zack and Wiki. I guess I could join the loop hole exploiters and say World of Goo, but since you guys have trouble accepting joke replies I probably shouldn't bother.

Fate Of Atlantis. But I'm a huge Indy fan. I'm so glad they're including FoA on the Wii edition of the new Indy game. The game looks meh, but that extra content makes it an insta-buy now. I know the Wii has some Point and Click games, but It could have so much more. Like all of Lucas Arts Point/Click adventures... Same with the DS. There's something about slower paces adventure game because they're forced to focus on story, characters and interesting puzzles. They need a Call Of Cathulhu based Point/Click game. It's a perfect fit IMO. Which reminds me... the great artist H.R. Giger (Who created the Alien design in the Alien films) co created the Point/Click game Dark Seed. The visuals and the atmosphere in that game was stunning.

Point and Click doesn't solely describe the method of control used in a game. A point and click game is usually an adventure game where the player solves puzzles and talks to other characters using a mouse for control.

There are thesethreegames, but the first two are kind of campy and the third one isn't very good.

Shadow of the Comet and The Awakened weren't too bad, imo (Shadow being the better of the two). The first Alone in the Dark game is also heavily based on the Cthulhu mythos, but that's more of a survival horror game than a traditional adventure game.

Hm, anyway, I'd say that Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is definitely the best game in the genre, although Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers deserves an honourable mention (it's the best 'serious' adventure game, anyway).
