most games are a waste of money nowadays.
60 dollars for 7 hours of game. + 500$ console
bluray read speed is so slow, that devs cant compress their data and create games that are roughly 6 times as long as dvd games

Who the hell said that Blu-Ray meant longer games?Sir-Marwin105sony was all about the capacity of bluray giving devs the most space ever to work with and now HS is 7 hrs, and uncharted will be 10

Exactly. They were pimping Blu-ray to dish out hugeworlds and bigger games, which I would think would be longer games. The power of the Blu-ray.

The blu-ray doesn't help make a longer game. It is so you can pack more sound, textures, cut-scenes in. HS uses the majority of the Blu-Ray disk for sound. You can play the game in like 10 languages.Who the hell said that Blu-Ray meant longer games?Sir-Marwin105well then what good is it for? i could care less about movies!
im still looking for a reason to buy a ps3 right now. I i hear about is the future. Well thenwhy should i pay a premium right now?throwsomeDDs
I'm waiting for a price drop. I keep hearing that one will happen either at the end of this year or early next year.

Licetne Mihi Ire ad latrinum. What`s with all these lemmings making trolling accounts these days?TheJuiceyBar
What is a lemming? Matter of fact, why do people call people cows and sheep in here? I have also seen the term hermit thrown around. :?
Iaid it before and Ill say it again. Heavenly Sword has no been in development for PS3 for 6 years. The game was planned to be released on PS2/Xbox 1 but I think hardware wasnt enough to achieve what they wanted so they scraped those version and in Ps3 they saw the hardware to do what they wanted. Besides, I know I'm asking too much, but use logic, dev kits for Ps3 have not been around for 6 years let alone Blu-ray...a=think people think, at least once.
Oh and my source, dev's blog on IGN
Who the hell said that Blu-Ray meant longer games?Sir-Marwin105
Sony said that on their godamn website..

Wow, that wasn't smooth at all.
yes cause consumers don't want anything else out of their products. They just want the basics
cause you never see phones with cameras or video capabilities. I hear theres phones that could go online.. so useless, no one will want that. Its a PHONE! thats iT!
and yet again.. dont judge it until you play it. the jump from cd-rom to dvd was way bigger and games didnt get any longer.. what did you expect?

Look up "non sequiter" and then re-read your post.
More space to work with has nothing to do with longer games for many, MANY reasons. For example:
1) More space doesn't mean developers HAVE to completely fill it RIGHT NOW.
2) More space can also allow for better graphics, animation, sound, etc. All of which require more space the better those things are and have nothing to do with a longer game.
3) More space simply means less limitations on the developer. However, time and money are two limitations developers can never avoid.
4) Many developers have a vision for their game in advance of development and providing more space doesn't mean they are going to change their visionjust to fill some disc space.

I don't want to sound like a troll, but i want to know where these huge games that are only possible on blu ray are. cows hyped blu ray like it would make gaming on all other formats impossible. It just seems like the extra memory is being used for multiple language tracks.BuryMe
Show me where somebody said that huge games are only possible on BR. San Andreas was huge and it was on DVD and didn't need an HDD to run without tons of loading. We all know many RPGs are huge games too.
Lemmings love to strip everything down to the most simple and ignorant point and act as if that is the only claim they need to attack. It's called a straw man and lemmings love knocking it down and thinking they've beaten a real person.
The potential the BR provides is valuable for WAY more than just making a game longer. And giving more space and potential to developers is no guarantee they are going to make a perfect game. This game flopped on its own and has nothing to do with the potential provided by BR.

Cows have been hyping blu-ray as something that would give us longer or biggergames ever since sony announced the ps3 would be using it.And maybe BR does have some potential. But it doesn't sem to be living up to it.
And don't ever call me a lemming.

woo I can name a few cows that said that Blu-ray would increase the length of games.
I was expecting so much more from Heavenly Sword.RonnieLottinSF
quit crying. the games was gonna be 6 to 8 hours long regardless of dvd or blueray. Thats just how they wanted to make it.
well blu-ray gives you more room, it doesn't mean longer, it does mean more variety usually tho. games now a days are creatd to be 7-25 hours because of the attention span of the average person, the average perosn only plays a single player for around 7 hours, thats why HS is 7 hours....if the story is good and eveyrthing else they try to make it 25 with that extra space.LibertySaint
wait a minute, please give us the link that says they made the game 7 hours because thats how long peoples attention span is.
so you are saying people don't finish games because they only play 7 hours?
jesus christ if this is true, I'm a freaking addict, I finish all my games!
[QUOTE="Sir-Marwin105"]Who the hell said that Blu-Ray meant longer games?Loonie
Cows were saying it loads after E3 '06
And they were full of it after Gears of War came out, "Its so short, its because MS stuck to crappy DVD's", maybe there wasn't room on the BR disk to allow your character to jump so they just left it out, who ever heard of a fighting/adventure game where you can't jump... feeble.
