The PS4 has 8gb GDDR5, better than most PC GPUS, which is why The Order 1886 looks better than anything else available!

Although the game cheaped out on gameplay, aside from a few a gun battles and walking around, it was mostly sit, watch, walk and QTE, i wanted so badly to defend this game but i can't. Not after the final "boss fight" there is simply no excuse for The Order of 1886.

Sadly, while the game looks beautiful, much like CD Projekt in an attempt to profiteer, Crytek sacrificed integrity, dignity and through self imposed ignorance; wits, for sake of money bags,

Unlike CD Projekt, who flourished under the console banner, with critical acclaim and sales well above anything they ever achieved as a pc developer, Crytek floundered for their treachery never again to reach the peaks once set.

Crysis is very much their swan song, now, like a junkie on the pavement with idle thoughts remembering better times, wondering how his life culminated to such a point, Crytek float in the fringes of real people, disillusioned and between worlds.

Very sad. Very much so, the bastards.

Crytek sacrificed all that because they want to increasetheir sales and availability?

And they achieved none of that. Ever since Crysis 2, they are going downhill. They haven't made a good game in ages, and they had to sell their studios and IPs to stay in business.

2 things

1: If said game is still clowning things, and I agree with what you are saying on some level, that adds to my point of how a half baked tech demo that was a glimpse at the potential future of this genre is still shitting on games that have come since

Second

The shooting is more than functional, and you never played Crysis because the gunplay was the tits or something, the stealth is a complimentary mechanic at best, and it's true joy is that it can be done on the fly. Aging? Yeah the second blows monkey dick, mega monkey dick, the type of monkey dick reserved for astronomical bullshit that isn't worthy of defense, but somehow you always find that crazy person that says "no bro, that part totally wasn't that shit". Be it planet scanning in Mass Effect 2, The Library in Halo, the scourge of modern gaming that is cinematic walking.

But yeah having a setting that actually isn't static and responds to gun fire and basic physics, scenarios that allow you to get very creative and think outside the box without an Ubisoft checklist attached to it, and oh by the way there is always Delta difficulty, yeah the game is still delivering those buzzwords "dynamic" and "emergent' a hell of a lot harder than most modern FPS games. Plus Warhead exists, where Crysis is merely really good (and yeah I would argue that first half is hardly aging, but that's because I wildly disagree with wildly aging. It's more limp gunplay was always there and should have always been knocked for that, people just excused it because pretty), Warhead I would argue is absolutely worthy of being great.

The more focused nature improves the games overall pacing, even if they don't like the "well it's more linear than Crysis", the nanosuit is still bitchin, the aliens are more enjoyable to fight (read improved, not necessarily a great enemy), and it has all the strengths of Crysis 1, without the big **** up where the 2nd half is total bullshit.

In contrast to FPS I've gotten since where the best this space has had to offer on the gameplay front (at least single player wise) are.....Resistance 3 and Wolfenstein?

Crysis gives you many options to approach a situation, but it's still more efficient to simply shoot your way through every situation. In a game where the shooting is a little flat, that's kind of a problem. Sure, it's cool to set up traps with C4 or throw barrels at enemies, but that stuff is more funny than effective. I feel like other games over the years have made dynamic gameplay better. Switching between different types of guns and mechanics (action and stealth) is a lot more fluid in modern games.

FPS games? I think that's a meaningless distinction. If you were to say shooters, then I would say MGS5, Vanquish, Max Payne 3, Far Cry 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, etc. all deliver far more engaging experiences.

MGS5: sure
Vanquish: mechanically I can give or take. Vanquish can be more gratifying on harder difficulties, but there is way more to Crysis mechanics
Far Cry 3: **** and No
STALKER: yes to Shadow of Chernobyl, no to Clear Skies, gonna go with no to Call of Pripyat, though I do like that game.
Max Payne 3: literally only does the core shooting better, it's not more dynamic, it's less so, it's horribly, the story is garbage, it dropped mechanics that its predecessors had.

And on hard and delta, nah simply shooting wasn't always your best option, and given how replayable that first half of Crysis or all of Warhead are, yeah I'm not seeing too many games that deliver the dynamic front. And flipping from action and stealth? You did it at the press of a button, with max speed to boot. Might need to explain that front better.

Because of the dynamic stuff, Far Cry doesn't even apply, Dishonored's combat isn't really an option, and all of Deus Ex: HR has poor game feel to its mechanics be it stealth or the shooting. Crysis and its expansion are certainly doing that free form stuff in a far more fluid manner.

C'mon, man. Crytek is a business. They're entitled to expand their business as they see fit. Crytek may have made some bad decisions. But, don't bring up integrity and dignity (or lack of them). It's not like they broke the law or something.

All game companies have money in their mind. It's what pay the bills, pay the salaries, allows them to buy whatever they need to make a game.

That's kind a moot point since you can cherry pick these kind of screenshots in almost every single game.

I don't have to cherry-pick the screenshots. Crysis consistently did poorly with man-made structures in the first few levels.

The levels: Contact, Recovery, Relic, Assault, and Onslaught all had lackluster structures. It wasn't until Awakening that structures and interiors got better. Of course, that also coincided with the levels becoming smaller and more linear.

I actually liked the other aspects of the game better (such as gameplay mechanics) which is why it still is a favorite. I still have Warhead installed.

It's amazing that to this day we still don't have the hardware that can run this game. Just look at that foliage...you need a whole gpu to run that separately. You still need a separate ram stick just to take in all of that shader memory dump. The gods at Crytek really made something special, nobody even knows how they did it. Just like the pyramids, there are many speculations surrounding Crysis...that perhaps aliens came down and developed the game with their high end alien PCs.

it's unfortunate tbh. We would have had CGI graphics by now if it wasn't for console peasants. RIP gaming...

considering how much it cost to make an AAA game these days if it weren't for consoles PC wouldn't even have games that look better than Snes'. lol

Even Crysis had to be ported to consoles to make money.

Oh tell us how well it performed on consoles that crytek almost went to bankruptcy. They should be realised that only shit fps games like cod sells on consoles.

The only somewhat bad one there is the security guy on the floor. The rest aren't too bad. Certainly not as bad as the first two Crysis screenshots. The third one is from Awakening. Already there is an improvement and improves even more by Reckoning (4th image).

I think that the biggest thing in Crysis that shows its age is the SSAO....... If it had a more modern implementation it would bring it up to current standards.

Too bad Crytek didn't make a patch that allowed improvements in Warhead to transfer over to Crysis:

The game looks butt ugly now, it's unfathomable how many PS4 games look better than Crysis mod or not modded.

Not even pulling the big boys like UC4, The Order, Killzone SF, DC, Infamous, Detroit and etc. You are done delusional TC.

Would've been better if Crytek made a conversion patch. But, it looks like something I'll try once I finish Warhead's SP campaign.

Never modded either game because I was happy just the way they are.

Nice tip. I did it and it works. However, everything is blurry when moving the mouse. Have you encountered this issue before?

Wait someone seriously still think crysis is graphics king? Have you seen crysis 3? Or the Order? Or killzone? Or Infamous? Or just anything current gen on a good high resolution monitor? I almost want to go so far as to say Mario Kart 8 looks better to me. The PC version of shadow of mordor even.

Crisis looked good for the time, but a lot of games caught up and passed it to be honest. Then again I have to admit that I'm a fan a games artist style and honestly Crisis looked technically impressive but from an aesthetic view it was ok. Lots of greys, greens, browns, and other various others colors that are featured in a game featuring a battlefield scenario. I like the art style of games more like Sunset Overdrive and even Infamous Second Son.

FINALLY came the time when you can say that unmodded crysis looks like shit for today's standards. Fallout 4, yes, Fallout 4 on pc looks better than crysis (without mods of course)...

Crysis's art style was always its weak point.

Reason Half-Life 2 and even Doom 3 can look great somewhat today is really good art direction.
