Name 5 PC exclusive shooters that have done better than Halo.... I really dont understand why PC is thought of so well here, there's not a lot going for it except its past.
At that point, he was probably right. The problem was that the standards were catapulted to extreme heights the next year... HL2, Far Cry, UT2004, Doom 3 etc.

In single-player: Half-Life, Half-Life 2, probably F.E.A.R., Crysis, and... that's all I can think of
Multi-player: Counter-Strike, Tribes, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, and.... that's all I can think of.
This is the part where I disagree with virtually everyone by saying that I thought Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the most overrated and boring games ever.
