Since IGN could beat the game in around 2 hours(or less?). There's no point in doing sidequests or anything because leveling is completely pointless.
I hope this game flops. No one should buy this trash.

I kinda liked the game but after I saw the videos it's just oblivion with guns.
MEgaton = Kvatch
BrotherHood of steel = The oblivion cops
Not to mention the animations suck .
Or you could have a traditional levelling system, where you grind out a few levels and then cakewalk/overpower everything in sight.
Or you abandon open world and instead script the order of the action so that tougher enemies come later.
None of the options is perfect and there are tradeoffs for each of them.
I'm going to go ahead and defend the development team for once (I'm kind of a critic of them).
They said specifically that the portions of the game that you have to go through, I.E. essential and story-specific areas, level with your character. They said the rest of it doesn't. How much of that is true, I don't know. How much of it affects the game, I don't know.
But I do know that it would make sense that the game would level with you on the main quests because they said that's what it would do...
Don't like it? Don't buy it.flatline711
Now what is that supposed to mean? That we have no room for complaints? Sorry pal, but that's not the way things work; if someone doesn't like something, they have just as much right to complain as anyone who has the right to agree. ;)

Better make sure you don't buy it though. Empty talk doesn't walk.
Developers probably won't care at the end of the day unless all of us decide, if only for solidarity's sake, not to buy it.
Yep gonna be garbage..
It is clear the game will have weak story, no real dialogue choices, no real consquences..
With the addition of a leveling system, rpg character development will be meaningless and non existent.. Just like Oblivion was, I can't even call that game a RPG.

Is it not better to play the game before praising or bashing it?Playing the game requires a purchase. Purchases may or may not be warranted. Even a rental may not be worth it for some games.
Yes, it's better from the perspective of giving you the proper context in which to judge it and giving you the deep look at the game you need for a thorough critique but....
Does History Channel Civil War need your dollars just so you can give a fair and balanced critique? Seriously?

Wtf >O My ":P" didn't show up. The actual post was supposed to read, "Don't like it? What was the last WRPG available on consoles that didn't have level scaling?[QUOTE="VoodooGamer"][QUOTE="flatline711"]Don't like it? Don't buy it.Mongo-Boss

Is it not better to play the game before praising or bashing it?Whether it's "better" or not is entirely irrelavant. Previews are there to get people excited about the game or disappointed which is always inevitable.

What was the last WRPG available on consoles that didn't have level scaling? This is a bum argument.. Unlike Oblivion, other wrpgs had actual real dialogue choices that could vastly change the game.. Leveled enviroment is just one more dumbed down PoS feature to add.. Which gets awful when the game is suppose to be a huge sand box.

IGN didnt play the speed run...
It was done by some bethesda guys that knew the game inside and out :(
This thread is full of fail.

Chances are I enjoy Fallout 3 just as much.

Yea I really didn't like how key characters could only be knocked out. Older rpgs were better in that you could often scew up the main quest early in the game. I also agree that the leveling system is lame, it didn't make sense that some scavenger could have a sword that was worth 100x his clothing. I prefer making the character get buff before doing tougher missons. And no rpg should be able to be beaten in less than 10 hours, speed runs should be for platform games.
But I will be giving Bethesda my money for Fallout 3. What the hell else am I going to play? Fable 2 looks like it will be way too easy, and I am only going to play dead space at night :)

Try older RPG's.. Like Vampires the Masqerades, it can be had off Steam for $20.. And it doesn't need a beastly machine to run..

Thanks but I have already played it. And no I don't want to play other older games like Baldur's gate, I have a high-res monitor and an hdtv. Playing a game that was built for 800x600 on either is rather lame. I've played most of the classics anyways. I will just play dead space and then screw with fallout 3.

I feel sorry for people that will have to play this game without mods. Oblivion is one amazing game with mods Fallout will be too.FrozzikIt was amazing without mods too. Just because gamers don't get mods doesn't mean it's an instantly crappy game...that's just...stupid.

i personally thought the game was garbage without mods. I couldn't play it. It looked horrible, the leveling was awfull, the AI was a joke and lands quite empty.

Of course, certain hermits will gladly tell me how wrong my opinion is and that Oblivion was "Teh complete sux" without said mods.

So mods fixed the leveling system and AI in oblivion?

Hell yea. Mods changed the whole dam game. Graphics, leveling system, everything. Look up OOO mod on google. Amazing mod. I even have a mod that gives guards a line of sight, no more of that radius rubbish. You know what i mean, like when you are in a house and murder someone, soon as you leave the guard arrests you. With a simple mod if the guard don't see or hear it they don't do anything.
Happy to see that not everyone has shuned Fallout 3 :)I COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE USELESS (at least to me) ARGUMENTS IN THIS THREAD - i cant wait for this game.
even if it is oblivion part 2.
ill say it again, i can't wait.

I hated how enemies leveled up as you did in Oblivion.... it ruined the game for me. I like starting out, not being able to venture to certain places because my character is too weak.... but after investing enough time into him/her being able to cut a trail of destruction where ever I go.... thats the best part of a RPG for me.... well that and the story....
You can count me out if this is what Fallout 3 is doing.... I'll pass thanks! Too bad, I was pretty pumped for the game b4 learning this.

Well Fable2 is tied for my #1 most anticipated game this year.... I guess I just don't classify it as the same style of game.... since it's not as open of a game as Oblivion or Fallout....
But yeah.... Fable2 will give me my RPG needs I guess.... ah man, I cannot wait.
