because the aiming controls are actually fast.
I played the FPS's for PS3 including the new one, but the aiming was just so slow, even on maximum seinsitivity.

Who wants to play a realistic shooter anyway?Emaldon117
apparently the millions of people who bought COD4...i'm not saying i prefer realistic shooters, i'll take R2 and Halo 3 over CoD games anyday, but most developers are aiming to stay in the realm of realism nowadays

Are you underestimating a Spartan's strength?guns are heavy, most people can't just whip them around
then again...halo isn't exactly realistic
Mr_Apple_Soup
If you put FPS and Best in the same sentence without KZ2 automatic Fail.djsifer01
I hope best in this context does not include controls. I'd rather play KZ2 with an N64 controller if it were possible, it would make more playable.

lulz
COD4 is far from realistic
thats because chief is in a super suit that gives him insane strength!lol. so it makes sense how weapons are almost weightless to him. and the puny momentum poses no problems for his super hydraulics... on the other hand COD4 needs momentum fast. you can almost do a 360 in mid air with a shotgun!!!guns are heavy, most people can't just whip them around

you didn't find the single player a tad more believable then most of the other shooters out there?
Erm, I don't judge a FPS game on how "fast" the controls are. :?The_Sand_Man
Whats the most important aspect of any game? "Being able to @!$%ing play it" - AVGN
:|you didn't find the single player a tad more believable then most of the other shooters out there?
Mr_Apple_Soup
No. Hell no.
The fact that it takes place in a "real world" setting doesn't make it any more realistic than Halo.
At least Halo has a reasonable excuse for Master Chief being able to soak up an ass load of bullets, with all the energy shields and the rest of the sci-fi bull ****.
In CoD 4 you just have magick powahz, end of story.

fine, i guess you're right than...when it comes to FPS's, my perspective is very...casual
so much for my nifty example
Weapons are heavy?
That was the retard statement of the day. If 7lbs is heavy to you....that's about how much an M16 weighs. 7lbs. And M4....lol. Unless you are carrying a huge LMG around with you, then no, you are not going to struggle "whipping" that thing around.
usmcjdk6
Says the guy with 10 inch arms lmao!!! Hold 7 lbs out in front of you for 12 hours straight and see how light it is.. lmao

I hold seven pounds in front of me every time I urinate.
It ain't a big deal.

LOL at "In CoD 4 you just have magick powahz" ah man that was great.
But yeah, Halo is just are realistic as Killzone as far as I can tell, in terms of gameplay.
In terms of story, well maybe not so much, but thats the fun of it. It's plausible, but not reality.

You should do some exercise, if your belly blocks the way and you have to lift it to urinate, isn't a good sign.:P
On topic: Its true for a trained soldier that weight is nothing.
It's actually closer to 8.5 lbs unloaded. Almost 9 lbs when loaded. Now, assuming like most games, you add an M203, you just upped the weight another 3 lbs unloaded. That's not including the addition of a scope which vary in weight by model. So try lugging a 12 lb weapon around all day with 50 lbs of gear and see how quickly you can swing it around.Weapons are heavy?

and add the fact that it really isn't pleasent on the arms if you've been firing that gun quite a bit
Actually. It is. It's based in the future, and everything is made out of a different material, not like steel. So it is more lightweight, hence the jumpin distance in the warthog.. which would be too heavy in RL today....guns are heavy, most people can't just whip them around
then again...halo isn't exactly realistic

True, but it makes the game feel like crap.
and fun should always go before realism.

No. The health regen system is not realistic and their is no logical explanation behind it for the game. At least in games like Halo and Crysis their is some realistic background to it.[QUOTE="Emaldon117"]Who wants to play a realistic shooter anyway?Mr_Apple_Soup

nothing about COD is realistic:P
If you put FPS and Best in the same sentence without KZ2 automatic Fail.djsifer01Its called an opinion Saying Killzone 2 is the best isn't a fact, its an opinion.....and forget being the best shooter ever, i would argue it still isn't the best shooter this gen.

Oh man... you are joking I hope.
Things that should be addressed in this thread:
1 - Standard assault rifles aren't heavy, unless your arms are parallel in diameter with a garden hose.
2 - Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is anti-realistic. The only FPS games I've played that I would consider realistic are S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Operation Flashpoint and Red Orchestra; Call of Duty 4 isn't even a fraction of realism in comparison.
3 - Killzone to being "the best FPS this gen" is opinion, not fact. If you were to ask me what I felt the best FPS this generation was so far, it would either be Team Fortress 2 or Left 4 Dead. Nevertheless, Halo 3 is an excellent shooter.
The reason Halo 3 is my favorite FPS this gen?
The weapons and vehicles are balanced. A skilled player always wins. There's no god mode anything. It makes online awesome.
Not to mention the community is huge, and come time for Halo ODST that number will get bigger.

I think I know what he's talking about. Not neccessarily "realistic" gun mechanics, but a lot of people play CoD4 expecting it to be the most realistic military-themed shooter. What the game goes for is being American military and all that crap. The theme of the game kind of realistic, people may expect that out of the game, but obviously when they play it the guns are nowhere close to their real life counterparts.
