Ive been meaning to invest for a while, ive saved up a lot of money and now with the economy doing good again ive decided to buy shares in Microsoft.. I know this might come as suprise to many on here because most of my posts are pro PS3 and i do even admit even though i own both consoles I am a PS3 fanboy..

But.. even though im a PS3 fanboy, from a investment perspective Microsoft is the better company to invest in. They pretty much have a monopoly in the PC OS business, they make tons and tons of xbox live and member fees, the 360 does have the higher attach rate and 360 owners are loyal and pretty much buy anything 360 related.

Its kind of funny because when people on here talk about sales, someone usually says something like "why care about sales, your a gamer not a shareholder" well now im both lol, im a gamer AND a shareholder in Microsoft as of today.

I must admit, its going to be strange when NPD comes out every month now because the PS3 side of me will want PS3 to outsell the 360 but on the other hand i would like 360 to sell the most since i now have a vested interest lol.

Fact #1:Sony is a caring company, none of their products cost money you can pick all of them up for free.

Fact #2:Cows are knowledgable and unguilable savvy consumers they do not buy bull, they do not buy any thing unless is wonderfully well made and costs the right amount.

I know it sounds crazy lol. Like I said NPD will be strange now, if PS3 outsells 360 ill be kind of happy and kind of not since i actually have a vested interest in 360 selling more however my fanboy side will want PS3 to outsell the 360 lol. But aside from the 360, MSFT has great products and is a great company

That made me giggle. Currently, I'm hoping Windows will get fased out by Linux so hopefully MS goes down and Apple goes up.

Microsoft isn't a good investment per-se. Its a sliding monopoly in the PC market, Consumers are looking torwards apple or Linux atm. I would more invest in Chrysler because of the low price at the moment.

Well im a options trader mostly, its a lot more risky but you make a ton more money.. Im always a big fan of Best Buy, they to are also a monopoly in the electronics retail business.. Owning Best Buy and Microsoft stocks would be ideal, both compliment each other very nicely. Microsoft is pretty safe and have a bright future, i mean they are the future of Tech

Oh, and you didnt hear it from me but word on the Street is even President Obama has a lot of shares in Microsoft as well and Microsoft and Obama are very close.. President Obama is a very tech friendly and pro tech president, owning shares under Obama would be like owning shares in Exxon under Bush.. cant go wrong. ;)

I sincerely doubt that you invested in Microsoft at this exact moment.

This doubt comes from simple business sense. Right now Microsoft shares are trading at 30.48, thats the 3rd highest the stock has been in the last FIVE YEARS. Not only that but the stock has been trending continuously updwards since about April of last year. Simple reason as to why, Windows 7. Now most ppl(especially those who are just investing for the first time) should have done their research and recognize the very basic principle of stocks of "buy low, sell high."

Stocks are all about trends, they fluctuate up and down continuously and barring something exceptional(like a merger or bankkruptcy) stocks almost always have a gradual decline following a continued period of upward movement, like Microsoft's has. This is especially true of blue chip stocks, like microsoft, where they have stable assets and are much less likely to have sudden spikes in either the upwards or downwards direction.

The best thing you can hope for is that Microsoft splits their shares due to the high and basically doubles your investment(not really, but u do get double the number of shares). However the likelihood of them splitting the shares is very unlikely especially considering they did not previously split at their last high of 37.06 back in November 07. In fact the last time they split their shares was back in Janurary of 2003.

Long story short, either you went strongly against conventional buying wisdom and actually did invest in Microsoft or you just made this up.

Fact #1:Sony is a caring company, none of their products cost money you can pick all of them up for free.

Fact #2:Cows are knowledgable and unguilable savvy consumers they do not buy bull, they do not buy any thing unless is wonderfully well made and costs the right amount.

[QUOTE="Kennysolidsnake"] no its true, bought 100 shares today.. Im not fitlthy rich, just money ive saved up over the last year to invest in.. I had about 3 grand saved up so i decided Microsoft is the way to go, very great and well run company.tirralirra

well hopefully u will get enough money back to purchase that $99 WiFi adapter

That made me giggle. Currently, I'm hoping Windows will get fased out by Linux so hopefully MS goes down and Apple goes up.

I just installed Linux for the first time after my previous hard drive collapsed, and honestly, the only thing that makes Windows worth the money is the compatibility. Ubuntu is faster, more customizable and 100% free.

Fact #1:Sony is a caring company, none of their products cost money you can pick all of them up for free.

Fact #2:Cows are knowledgable and unguilable savvy consumers they do not buy bull, they do not buy any thing unless is wonderfully well made and costs the right amount.

If you really did buy Microsoft stocks that was a terrible move on your part. The only way you'll ever get real cash from stocks is when you buy them at their lowest and they rise high.

Microsoft stocks are just too high for them to improve enough to make cash on them.

I'd imagine compatibility is the number one thing people want. Obviously the OS with the most bells and whistles is gonna run slower then a far more streamlined one.

Im a options trader, i buy short term and swing trade.. I should have said Options not stocks to be more specific.. MSFT is a easy easy stock to ready, when its down 2 or 3 days in a row thats the time to go "short" and buy some call options and sell it the next day or two when it goes up another 50 cents or so

My point is that considering what you can get for free with Linux, I'd of thought that Windows - costing as much as it does - would offer much more than it does in reality. But I guess that's what happens with a monopoly; they can make it cost as much and offer as little as they want in terms of new features but it will still be no. 1 simply for the fact it's the one operating system that all programs are going to work for. The one that everyone's used to. The standard. /rant
