MGS4 has proven to be more visually pleasing thus far. When I look at Gears 2 I don't like what I see despite the technical achievement.

And wtf TC you honestly think Gears 2 is going to be an overall better game?

Only a fanboy would think MGS4 looks better than Gears.

MGS4 is extremely linearFFXIII360

It is but it's still a great game, as is GeOW and so will GeOW2, I believe MGS4 is just more realistic looking, but Gears is the better looking game overall imo, (I play both games on a Samsung 1080p 46")

EDIT: I use hdmi cables btw

While Gears Of War 2 does look graphically superior to MGS4 in terms of textures, MGS4 trumps that with its great and REALISTIC looking character models as well as terrific production values and a well-woven (although convoluted) storyline.

Comparing monsters, locusts and buff, steroid-and-adrenaline-injected men with guns and no helmets (like wth, headshot-invulnerable men, anyone?) to MGS4's high-polygon, detailed character models shouldn't even be a comparison to begin with.

Both games look great, period. MGS4 has the best character models in any console game, period. Gears Of War 2 may look like the console game with the best looking textures, but it isn't really that impressive.

I agree with him, and you can see clearly that I lean towards the xbox 360 in almost every aspect.

I haven't played GEOW2 yet so I'll wait to see the thing running on my 360 . I expect it to be graphically very good . A lot of artwork went in Gears 1, which I really liked . It was graphically a big leap when it came out and still is considering the fact it turns up in these forums today in 2008 . MGS4 was graphically good but not SO good . Yes, animations and character models beat those of GEOW1 . Lightning beats that of GEOW1 , but textures were sometimes bland and empty . If i compare MGS4 to Uncharted by example, I find the Uncharted engine way more powerful graphically in terms of lightning and textures . I still find Uncharted a game graphically really impressive !!

Geow2 is shaping up nicely and visually it looks great... however i will judge after i play the game and see it in motion on my Tv, because small gameplay vids or pictures don't give you a true idea of the game... Still though am looking forward for Geow2, i liked the first game and hopefully Epic will deliver a better overall gaming experience with their sequel..

personally till now i think MGSIV is one of the best games (also visually) i played this gen on consoles...

Gears >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> MGSIV

and I'm not just talking about visuals, I'm talking about every single aspect of the 2 games. Even Gears of Wars lack of story is better than MGSIV silly story lines with lame over the top dialogue, where characters have names like "BIG BOSS".... wow, so imaginative.Veterngamer

Oh, **** off.
Gears wishes it could have a stellar intricate story like MGS.
Story>No Story. No cutting it any other way.

And, by the way you're wording your posts, I'm guessing that was your first Metal Gear game?
How cute.

The story must have went right past you.
It's cool. It's definitely not for everyone. I mean, some people are scared of what they don't understand.

Which game (will) look better?
One of them isn't even out yet. GearsII is shaping up pretty well, though.
And, it'll probably look better. The story, though? Not even going to get excited for that.

Gears doesn't really seem to be about that anyways. Judging from the first, it's simple, and to the point. I put emphasis on simple. I'm looking for more of the same this time. A well-to-do story is welcomed, though. Bring it on.
