i will start of by saying the x1 ui is horrible, i watched the giant bomb launch party thing and it looks unusable without kinect. it looks cluttered, slow install times, cant stream, have to connect kinect to edit captured videos, wtf is wrong with friends i mean 'followers' system?

i dont understand why they would change so much, x360 had it almost perfect. yes ps4 ui has some issues but x1 ui needs a complete ui overhaul, and if lems disagree use that thing without kinect and come back to me. because m$ have said x1 functions without kinect lems cant respond with 'bu-bu-bu just connect kinect'

the ui is broken and is no where near ps4 ui. FACT

they both suck. the x1 has way more potential though.

A more complex system will need to iron its U.I out, but it doesn't change the fact that the X1's Metro U.I is far nicer to look at, and is far more customizable. and will likely recieved far more love patches than the PS4's ... if last gen is anything to go by.

its like people preferring xmb to the xbox360s current u.i... ok whatever preferences... but one clearly does more than the other.

2 similar systems, nearly identical, will argue about crap like this. you really are the bottoms of the gaming barrels. PC/ Wii U just sit there and laugh.

like i said m$ has stated x1 can function without kinect so they should have designed the ui accordingly. i will never buy/use kinect/ps eye

I use it with Kinect, therefore I have no issues. Kinect makes it much better especially when you want to use the snap feature or quickly go from one app to another. From time to time I don't use Kinect and it's still fine. The main page is a tad cluttered but it's by no means terrible. The Kinect is really what sets it apart though, if you choose not to use it you're just selling yourself short.

Maybe they will. A few months isn't enough time to completely redesign the UI. In a few years the UI will probably be completely different while the PS4's will probably stay mostly the same. MS has shown they aren't scared to try new thins, unlike Sony.

well i dont want to be shouting into kinect to do basic stuff. the metro ui looks horrible on tv, the x360 looks far nicer because they dont overload the entire screen with green squares. and no i preferred x360 ui to ps3 but this time its the other way around. wiiu isnt laughing at anything, its crying

Both systems UIs look ok. I am worried though ms will improve theirs overtime and sony will barely touch theirs.

Nice opinion, too bad there is no fact there, I have no intention of buying an x1 yet when I tried it the Metro system was very easy to use. but then I am use to metro. and "shouting" is hardly the word. you don't even have to, it was absolutely fine with a controller, oh sure I bet some functionality is buried but that can easily change with patches, which microsoft was ALWAYS good at.

Oh and, the Wii U is laughing. I don't care how many of you cows/lemmings look at the low population of wii-u and go "hah dead system" ... when in reality it actually has more stellar games confirmed for 2014 than those 2 consoles... and just had 2 fantastic games come out. while not charging for online or bending you over backwards with £50-60 launch game prices.

no, the real joke is on the PS4/X1 for their first year looks absolutely awful.

why would sony need to change? ps3 ui was slow and clunky but ps4 ui is damn near perfect in terms of simplicity and design. they will continue to add features like they should no need to change. x360 blades ui was decent but i hated nxe, the best was definitely the latest update but i dont think x1 ui design will change much, they seem obsessed with metro

well sorry I like colour, and while metro has been poor in some areas most praise its look and customization. but this is all swings and roundabouts with you isn't it? you looked at one review by an idiot at giant bomb that couldn't do it properly and class it as law before you even try it yourself.

i actually watched it in action and you dont have to be a genius to recognise bad design, it looks a damn mess. anyway enjoy sonic or whatever sega gensis/snes game are playing

I have an Xbox One. The Xbox One is a real "next generation" device, where as the PS4 is just a hardware upgrade.

LOL.....The XBONE's UI is much, much, much better that the PS4's. Hell the first week I had my PS4 most of the UI didn't even work on the PS4.

ALL THOSE OPTIONS UNDER THE GAMES ON THE MAIN BLADE WOULD DISAPPEAR !!! And it was pretty widespread. I admit the PS4's is way better than the PS3's was. The only problem with speed on the XBI UI is the game installs. They are hideous. But the XB1 UI is just as fast as the PS4.

Wow. It seemd like rather recently, before launch at least, that most everyone stated they would just disconnect or not use the Kinect. Now most have flip-flopped on that.

Putting the word FACT at the end doesn't make it so. I use and like Windows 8, from what I've read and been told that means I'll like the UI.

I've used both and slightly prefer the ps. It's fast and it's easy to get to where I want to go. The xb1 seems to have more room to grow and doesn't seem as stripped down.

I think the PS4's UI is pretty damn slick. I'm not going to bash the X1's UI though.

Kinect voice commands are a disappointment so far, but it's my understanding most reviews gave the edge handily to the Xbox One for the UI.

No, none of these posts mean anything. They are like 98% purely uninformed cattle prodding and nothing else. One person says something completely unsubstantiated just so they can hate on Microsoft, Microsoft fans will just make up something else to make fun of sony and so on. This pretty much states how fail this thread is. First of all, you haven't actually used it, you are going off of what you have seen on the interwebs. I have both consoles, I have used both interfaces. There is NO question that the XBOX ONES interface is MUCH better. Get over it cow, your systems interface is inferior, you should be used to it by now.

PS4 UI... So simple, a Sony fanboy can use it...

I use Xbox One without Kinect, the UI is great and I have absolutely no issues navigating with controller but whether you use kinect or controller it's hard to deny Xbox 360 dashboard is much better, all MS needs to do is add back all the features removed from X360 and then I would say it would be on par with 360 UI. Haven't used PS4 as it's not out yet but from the videos I've seen it looks like a small improvement over that garbage PS3 XMB.

yeah that what i mean by dedication. the app library is horrible, couldnt do basic features like seprating volume key from ring tone volume.

shows how much u use your phone, volume keys acting as master volume is the worst idea ever. i dont care if you love your phone, love it more for all i care. im just saying it sucks which it does

haha because ive used the exact same operating system which is why i know it sucks. if watching a vid and i turned the volume down this also turns down my alarm and ring tone volume, if you dont see that as a problem then wow

@sts106mat: haha you have made it clear you dont use your phone and i dont mean data, i mean actually calls and features. i dont sit looking at my phone, their is something called a ringtone that goes off when i get calls. master volume is horrible and no lumia launched with 7.0 then after the useless upgrade to 7.5 which only allowed you to change title sizes i switched. the difference cant be that big if volume buttons still control master volume. keep defending garbage, its amusing haha
