So let's say GT5 comes out next year (or the one after that), and has slightly better graphics than Forza 3. So that ends it, right? GT5 is the better game? Wrong. Graphics is just one of the many areas where Polyphony needs to play catch up. What's GT5's answer to Forza'a better physics model? And what about Forza's far superior online mode (compared to GT5P, at least)? And what about the sweet customization options like the livery editor? Or the cool community features like the Auction House and video editor? And what about all the assists that let you scale the gameplay however you like? Hell, even the new replay function seems like it will be a great addition. The Forza franchise has done so many things right since it first came out, whereas the GT franchise has basically gone stagnant since GT3. Forza has been a AAA series without great graphics, so what makes you think it won't be with them? If I were a GT fan I'd worry a little less about graphics and a lot more about everything else.

And besides, neither GT5 or Forza 3 is the best looking racing game out there. Dirt 2 looks better than both.

between GT5, Dirt 2, and FM3, i'd say GT5 looks better then the other two (but not by much).

However i think your right. i keep hearing about graphics, and i don't hear too much of anything else for GT. I really like the slick set up Xbox did for Forza 2, and i'm keeping an eye on Forza 3, waiting and hoping for more info on GT5. Both games are time-consuming, so i wanna make one purchase and make it count. still on the fence on this one.

And what makes you so sure Forza 3 will have better overall gameplay than GT5, have you played both titles already? I guess no, so lets wait for some previews & till both games get actually released.. So all the questions you asked will be answered by then, dont forget the different modes on offer for GT5 (Rally, Nascar etc which are lacking in Forza3) and dont forget the larger no. of tracks / cars in GT5.. Dont repeat the mistake others did with KZ2 who were sure just because the first title was average its sequel was destined to suck.. GT4 maybe had some issues but was still an amazing game, GT5p was just a taste of what to come and still did deliver a great racing experience, so if I were you I would wait before claiming Forza3 will be better than GT5..

On the visual side, you shouldnt have any doubts GT5 will look better than forza considering GT5p (released Feb '08)is already on par with what was shown for Forza3...

But i do agree with you that gamers in general should be more concerned about gameplay rather than visuals for any upcoming title.. Personally i'll just make sure to get both games and enjoy both :)

they are both going to be the best in their genre and i dont understand all this rivalry. actually i do since its the forza developer that keeps feeding all this nonsense to their fans, but whatever. both games will be the best of the best and it will come down to which console you own that you play moreso than anything else.

I think Rikusaki should make a huge Forza vs GT thread that covers the history, graphics, gameplay, review score.....and the mods sticky it because im with you man theres far too many of these threads.

If GT5 has better graphics, I honestly don't think I'll care.

GT4 has better graphics than Forza 1 - I preferred Forza.

GT5: P has far better graphics than Forza 2 - I preferred Forza 2 by a huge margin.

GT5 may have better graphics than Forza 3 - Well, we'll see what happens but I honestly don't see the trend breaking here...

If you own a PS3 buy GT5 if you own a 360 buy Forza and if you own both you should not care about this thread.

Does GT feature pressureable A.I? Real time simulated tire deformation? Real time telemetry? physics engine at 360 FPS? Gt is not more realistic. Gt has more content, better graphics, Forza has better features and gameplay.

Will GT5 have any of the things I mentioned before? The content of a racing game comes down to a lot more than just the cars and tracks. GT4 dwarfed the original Forza in cars and tracks, but Forza was still a much bigger game, as it offered so much more for the player to do.

Gran Turismo isn't playing catch up with anything, its one of the best and most established racing franchises that exists. It doesn't need livery customisation, its a simulator. It tops every other racer out just like it has done since the original released. I really don't understand why a load of people, mainly Forza fans, including the Forza developers feel the need to bash the game when you don't see Polyphony doing the same thing. Its clearly a sign of insecurity.

The original forza had livery, online, and damage compared to GT4. It's not that big of a difference to say the least. I still got more entertainment out of GT4 since the original forza's physics engine was atrocious.

Then why is the latest installment introducing online and rumored damage modeling? Why is this only being brought in now? Face it, poly dropped the ball long ago, they slacked off and took it easy because they could. Now a superior developer has stepped up, delivered superior gaming experiances and there spending 8 years trying to catch up to what Forza is offering.

Hell the poly team went up to the Forza lot at E3 and started taking freaking notes. :lol: Learning from the masters. See thing is, i already know GT5 will score better than Forza 3. I know this. It's had far FAR FAR more dev time than Forza 3, all that extra content? Dev time.

Thing is, give it 2 years after GT5s release and we'll be rocking Forza 4 and GT will be out of date and inferior once again. Come Forza 6 you can expect a new GT to roll up and we'll repeat this conversation again the diference is I'd have experianced 3 superior games in that time and you'd still be waiting.
