LoL thats exacly what im thinking. Apple products are soo damn overpriced :P

I use OSX on a daily basis, and honestly im not a fan. at all. I much rather the functionality of my XP + windowblinds and star dock. Hell OSX seems to have more problems for me than my XP machine....

Never the less dual boot is tempting, and the ability to play MeTW2 on the go, or lounging on the couch would be awesome. Wicked, wicked game.

FrozenLiquid

Maybe you're not a fan of OS X because it's so damn consumer friendly? Or in other words, noobified?

I think It goes OS X --> Windows --> Linux in terms of flexibility and customization, with the Linux users being the most tech savvy.

If only Apple had more game support huh, we'd have our problems solved

Ahh well OSX just feels clunky to use, and due its simplified interface, getting into the nitty gritty diagnostics is annyoning. Not to mention programs locking up (GRAH SAFARI) and random crahes. Ive had a Mac DIE on me for no reason. NO reason whatsfreaking ever. A new god damn iMac.... Beats me how it happened.

In terms of customisation + flexibility OSX is defitnaly not at the top. In XP i can modify the complete interface to look like OSX, change registery properties and fiddle with almost anything. Hell my XP setup is a wicked Alienware windowblinds look, combined with an OSX dock.

In terms of Vista - I cant say. Ive only used it for a few minutes.

Ive been using iMacs for over 4 years now. And iBooks. Always updated - thanks to my schools budget.

Apple look to be getting more games, well EA games.... But then again who knows how sucessful it will be. I rember when Jobs announced a whole Games for Apple plan and it flopped hard - but that was before the days of the Core Duos.

As a company I generally despise apple.... They are essentially what Msoft could have been - effetivley killing off 3rd party support through dev costs, and royalties, not to mention over charging. Dosent Msoft own a large stake in Apple anyway?

Ah well, I cant avoid the invitable.

On a positive side I like the athstetics of Mac Books. They are soo noice, and defitnaly the most well crafted laptops. Hardware wise Asus or Alienware takes the cake.

Yeah I've had a few crashes. But only on one program: Microsoft Messenger

Then again, I haven't had my Mac for long (just got the new one that came out at the Apple Store), so I'll see what hapens. My friend, who is also into graphics designing, did say that Macs crash on you in a whole new way than Windows does

Yea Windows messenger sucks. Kill It. Get Messenget Live!

Macs certainly do crash in a whole new way. It baffles me that those bogus TV commercials state Macs dont crash or dont get viruses or spyware.

Turns out windows is the most secure OS:

Besides isnt a Mac a Personal Computer? So its a PC :P ? lol. Damn eeevil marketing campaign.

Yeah I have Windows LIve Beta 8.5 on Vista.

But OS X only has MIcrosoft Messenger. My mate also says Microsoft Office on Mac crashes all the time. Microsoft is getting back at Apple hard then!

I think I'll wait 'til Trillian 4 comes out, and use that instead of Messenger, coz this sucks.

But that's interesting if Windows is the most secure OS. How does Apple get away with those campaigns?

the new resistance maps cost $$$ and this is only the start, just wait cows, it will be just like xbl soon, making you pay for everything.

http://gamesman.co.nz/news.php?id=3161

this is one reson why pc gaming > console gaming, you get new maps for free, along with every demo, mod

imprezawrx500

I doubt they'll be asking $10 for those new maps like every map pak on live. Also i just bought MK2 on playstation store for eur.2,99. MK on the 360 costs eur.9,60. Both have online multiplayer although the 360 one has more features like voice chat. But not worth the price difference.

I feel its ok to pay for extra maps, there's just a limit to how much they ask and virtually everything on xbox is overpriced. From map packs to arcade games to gamerpics to theme's to changing your name.

you can't say this is what makes pc gaming better. Its one advantage but then both sides have their own advantages.

Ya what your mate says about Office on Mac is true - I even had Word crash on me today. Locked up and froze :?

Lol I could see some eevil Msoft office conspiracy here :P

I havent heard of Trillian 4 - i`ll have too look into it!

Ha yea it is intresting with Windows being secure... I was surprised aswell. As for those Ad campaigns? God knows how they get away with them. False Advertising FTW! :P

Why not? Do you not play the game online.

I bought the new Vegas maps (everyone I know bought them), but you get thrown out if the host changes to one of the maps and you don't own it. I play it so much though, that the extra money was well spent.

[QUOTE="16bitkevin"]Micro-transactions is probably how gaming will die in the future. Paying for maps? As a PC gamer, I find that ridiculous and absurd.SgtWhiskeyjack

They were free with Far Cry because they were user made. I don't mind paying for maps made by the dev, they employ people to make and play test them and they have to be paid.

Disgusting. Never would I have thought I would see someone who enjoys paying for microtransactions. Personally, I think that buying the game for $60 should entitle me to any extra maps that come from the developers. As long as people continue to pay money for extra content, companies will continue to charge for it. If consumers were smart, they wouldn't pay for this stuff and it might become free instead.

If hermits didn't know, demos are free on XBL... and a lot of map packs become free after a certain period.

FrozenLiquid

Wow dude, if they start charging for demos it would be a HUGE ripoff. You can even get free games in the PC! Full games!

That's like saying,

You pay for a combo at your favourite fast food chain, and expect them to give you extra stuff just because you are loyal.

Gentlemen,

Extra content is not a right, it is a privilege.

Everything has it's ups and downs. PSN being free is the start, whereas XBL costs you maybe not a lot but for the sake of this argument. Also, to get the additional features you pay for them in XBL and PSN.
