Glad to see u admit to being a casual gamer.

80s? That's BS. You talk like you're 12.

Also, mouse turns any shooter casual? LOL console turns any franchise casual.

@R3FURBISHED: Very weird indeed.

Anyways, I'm loving it. As already said, this game is gonna be a huge time sink. Definitely gonna buy this game day one.

Reading that it looks like you'll be needing PS+/XBLG to even play the game solo.

Yup, no buy for me

i would hold out on that as far as PSN is concerned.

In the alpha there are missions labeled "PSN+ required" and those are straight online stuff ala raids and the pvp. I do think given how PSN is with f2p games and mmos, you will be able to experience the solo stuff on your own. I'd recommend seeing if you'll be able to play the beta with PSN vanilla. preorder, then cancel preorder(because who the **** has never done that?).

Xbl it's gold or bust, because that's just how xbl is about this shit. But I could see Destiny's solo story stuff not needing PSN+

I am lov it and it will easily be my most played game of 2014 unless I really get sucked into Dragon Age Inquisition. The tougher enemies are bullet sponges at first, but that is only because you starting weapons suck. Once you find some uncommon gear it becomes a lot easier. I can already tell the Strikes and Raids will be overwhelming hard if you are not prepared. I was in a team of 3 and took around an hour and 30 deaths(no lie) to beat it.

The game rewards exploration as I have found some secret caves and locations in Old Russia, although they you can't really access them in this alpha because the enemies are invincible!

I really like the leveling and upgrade system in this game. Not only does your character level up, but so do your weapons and abilities. Weapons upgrade the more you use them. Same for your super ability, grenades, jump ability and melee. The armor doesn't just upgrade your defense, the rare gear gives passive bonuses to other skills such decrease cooldown times, etc.

If you enjoyed Borderlands you like this. The loot is not trash like Borderland 2 3either. The gunplay is excellent as well...

Last tidbit I really like the Warlock class, but is a definitely a glass cannon. Hunter class is great with the throwing knife and the Golden Gun can pretty much annihilate any single target.

Old Russia is only a tiny sliver of Earth so Imagine this game has at least a 100 hundred hour of original content(not just repeated fetch quests either). The great thing about he the fetch quests in the game is that once you complete them you automatically complete the mission...no backtracking to the quest giver was a great game design decision.

I actually agree with almost everything you said for once. This was my experience as well.

I am absolutely enjoying it. I joined a random group yesterday to do some missions around Russia together. It's awesome that you can so easily group up and help each other out. It's just a tiny part of the game, yet there is already a lot to explore and do.

I have the impression that people mistake this for an ordinary shooter with coop. It's an MMO, but with a more than solid FPS at its core. It's Halo meets WoW, and the result is awesome.

I love it. The rpg elements work great and the shooter elements have such a Halo feel that just mixes everything together. I love that the enemies have shields that you have to break before they take damage. The world is huge and I keep finding new areas after I don't think there is anything else to see. Randomly running into high level enemies and having to scatter to get away all makes for a lot of fun for me.

I'm pretty upset I had no idea this Alpha thing existed. I would have loved to experience the game. I'm really looking forward to it. Oh well. At least the Beta starts in a month.

I'm warming up to it. 30fps though is unnerving and it's tough to look past. But the more I play, the more I want to keep playing.

Weren't ALL of the Bungie Halo games 30fps?

That's pretty much standard for them.

Hasn't ever been a problem in the past.

Not previously a problem - but standards change and 30fps feels antiquated for an FPS.

Just reached level 8. I really like it, i will be picking it up.

My only problem with it so far is the 3rd person view when you get to tower plaza. The controls and stuff are very slugging and clunky feeling to me.

I completed Halo 1 on PC but never go into the series. I went into the Alpha with open mind and i found it to be really good. Guns and movement felt great. Completed the 3 man Devils lair run and it was great fun with my two mates.

Have pre-ordered, thumbs up so far.

Like I said: standards (and expectations, for that matter) change. Now more than ever are gamers prioritizing performance. What I'm not saying is that Destiny will be a failure if it only achieves 30FPS - but games that champion framerate turn out all the better for it.

Here's some more things after about 15-17 hours of playing.

Abysmal voice acting

Insanely long loading times. How is it a loading time between multiplayer matches take ~2 minutes to load? Such next gen...

Im perfectly aware of this being an alpha and i hope there's much more weapon variations but what was present was pretty low. Felt like every pulse rifle looked the same, every LMG looked the same and so on. That's boring.

Exploration was pretty bad. There's nothing else in the world but one kind of plant (which will change from alpha of course but still...) and crappy chests that most of the times had very low amount of money or a shitty white item.

P2P. Standby switch raid bosses in this game will be very trololol

Not being able to trade with people. This is a big wtf one.

Hunter's throwing knife and nades felt like crap compared to the other two class special abilities (mostly in pvp).

Those were some negative points for me personally and the only positive thing i can say about Destiny is stfu and preorder it and get it day one :)

I am sold on the game after spending the weekend with it. It's cool to play an open world Halo with RPG elements and incidental multiplayer. My friend and I are going to play it together, and it seems pretty solid from what I saw. Looking forward to it.

Interesting, I also had an Apple IIc and ACS. It was hardly an rpg game first, given that it was sold for the creation of your own games; thus the title.

The "rpg" was there as a learning template, but I guess you missed that in your cursory googling.

Tell me, what was ACS' "rpg" setting?

What was the name of the land, realm, or region?

Was it: fantasy, futuristic, other?

How were projectiles rendered in the game?

FPS' were created on PCs to use mouse and keyboard. They never even belonged on consoles because of the shit controls and split screen.

Remember when you peasants were all about the split screen over true multiplayer? Ignorant as ever. Good times.

Killzone requires the use of an inferior input device (i.e. a controller). Congratulations on double handicapping yourself, simp.

I don't beg for ports because I don't care about recycled games like GTA, and haven't since it debuted on PC. Last one I even played was GTA 2. Try again.

I played the Destiny Alpha twice and after that I didn't care to boot it up. It's okay, but not my kind of game. I reviewed Destiny more in various other posts (like this one here linky), but overall it's a Haloish version of Borderlands with an MMO feel. I feel the PS360 is holding back the graphics (like most recent Xbone/PS4 games).

I would only be slightly interested in playing this game if I had a posse of friends to play with but otherwise I am going to pass if they aren't interested. Even then, I would try to convince them on other titles. It's good for what it is, but it's not my kind of game.

I'm not yet 40, but welcome to the internet and allow me to knock over your straw man.

I also love you kids' insinuation that you're supposed to quit gaming at a certain age. If you're a true gamer, then you're in it for life because you recognize that the tech and experience should continue to improve (in the absence of consoles).

You can also thank Gen X for your games of today.

If you actually bothered to read this entire thread, then you'd know why I decided to participate.

I don't care about Halo part 8 or the PoS4, but I do enjoy an opportunity to call out resident morons when a slow day offers the opportunity.

Thanks for your concern,

@Dire_Weasel:

Uses "kids". Check.

Uses "true gamer". Check.

Uses "PoS4". Check.

Calls someone a moron. Check.

Congratulations, you're a walking cliché. There's no need for a straw man when posters like you actually exist.

Responds in cliched bullet point form because he lacks the wit and intellect to stand on his own without distorting the points of others by deliberately taking them out of context Check

If you actually bothered to read, then you would know that the term "kid," was used to call out a certain troll who was trying to lie and claim that they were part of a generation and time that they clearly knew nothing about. Their bluff had also been called.

Your attempted "true gamer" insult is also taken out context given that it was a response to your previous attempted insult that implied that you will stop enjoying your current gaming hobby past a certain age.

Over 15k posts on a message board devoted to video games and a subforum devoted to system trolling and debate. Check

I'm not above insulting deserving trolls and please spare me and everyone else your phony millenial self righteousness and ignorance.

The only cliché here is you, the 15k poster that decides to try and swoop in to regulate a new poster that threatens you, without even bothering to read the context of his would-be target's words or deliberately misrepresenting them in an attempt to try and posture.

My, my, you are new. Well, enjoy your stay here, it looks like you'll fit right in. I wasn't kidding, your post was so bad you managed to actually add stink to this cesspool.

P.S - Every single assumption you made about me was wrong, Sherlock. Good Day.
