@ermacness: No, Outriders is an example of an xsx enhanced game.
@ermacness: Sure, it’s a multiplat. That’s my point. Gamepass gives you the current generation version, psnow gives you the last gen version even if it’s available for ps5.
Sorry, I follow old rules of generational consoles too. If it’s not a ps5 game, it obviously doesn’t count as one.
Idk mate you have to wait this summer to find out whether the ssd on the market is compatible. Idk if xbox storage going to get cheaper when console is not outselling the PS5 (smaller install base) and its a custom ssd solution.
It will. Right now there is an exclusive contract with Seagate. Once that ends, everyone will be free to release storage upgrades of various sizes and drive down the price.
@ivangrozny: It's been a topic of discussion since before the PS5 launched. It's beating a dead horse.
But it's an ongoing problem. Especially in System Wars where we pretend PS5 is all about the games and Xbox Series has none.
I don't get why you can't use an external HDD on the PS5. I have a WD Black 2 TB connected to my Series S and it's freaking fast. You can play previous gen games on it, or store and swap current gen Series Enhanced games on it.
And once the Seagate exclusive contract ends, other companies will make Xbox Series storage cards of various sizes driving down the price.
@HalcyonScarlet: I have a 4TB external hooked up to my PS5 with my entire PS4 collection on it. The feature is currently used for older games. Eventually the PS5's small SSD will be a problem... much quicker if you're into COD and other games with massive install files... but I digress.

Well as long as you can swap games on the HDD there's nothing to complain about.
I just delete the games I do not need to play. It is not that much of a big deal.
Same. It's a non-issue for me. Even then, there's probably more than a dozen games downloaded.

But most of those multiplats are available on ps also, and I terribly hope that you’re not counting games like Gears 5 and FH4 as xsx games.
@ermacness: Most, but not all. In other words more. Why wouldn’t I count them? Because they’re not new? Aren’t they available on xsx? Even if I didn’t, psnow has exactly zero games for ps5.
I know you want to win this argument, so go ahead and word things as you need. I think this conversation has run it’s course.
@sealionact:
I’m trying to understand how games from last gen don’t count on the ps side, but they count for Xbox. Both Gears 5 and FH4 are last gen games with an xsx upgrade, just like GoT, GOW, and Days Gone for the ps5 . So how come games like these don’t count for the ps5 since all 3 games received next gen upgrades, but Gears 5, and FH4 counts for the xsx?

"Gamepass gives you the current generation version, psnow gives you the last gen version even if it’s available for ps5."
Also the games you mentioned are listed as PS4 games and not PS5.😎
@Pedro:
I’m aware of that, but GP can’t give you more than what’s available. Most of what’s offered on GP that’s current gen can be played on the ps5 (not through GP of course). What I’m asking is how does Gears 5 and FH4 count as xsx games because they were “enhanced” even though they were available before the xsx came out, but Days Gone, GOW, and GoT doesn’t count as ps5 games even though they share the same circumstance?

There are Series X|S versions of the Gears 5 and FH4. It is that simple. There are no PS5 versions of Days Gone, GOW and GoT.
@Pedro:
Can those xsx/xss variations be played on the x1?
If I got the physical copy of these games for my xss/xsx, can I also play them on my x1?
Because if I can, then those are just xsx/xss enhanced games.
Smart Delivery bud.
It's funny how Smart Delivery really throws the cows for a loop. They struggle so hard to compare it to the PS5's bonkers upgrade system.

Backwards Compatibility is backwards compatibility. If the same game that’s being played on a console, can be played at lesser settings on the previous existing console, it’s backwards compatibility.

NBA 2K21 knockin on your dumb head. So, NBA is last version on Gamepass.

NBA 2K21 doesn't use Smart Delivery.
It's not a next-gen version, it's a Xbox One version which you can play on XSX/XSS as BC game, dummy.

Just take an L. Boners don't know what they have on Gamepass.
@ermacness: Smart Delivery is not backwards compatibility.
Ok, duly note. Now my question is: Was there an actual physical disks copy of Gears 5/FH4 released for the xss/xsx?
No. Because of Smart Delivery, they don't have to release discs specifically for Xbox Series X/S. You put in the Xbox One disc in an Xbox Series X, you get the Xbox Series X version of the game.
@mowgly1: Yes, NBA 2K21 doesn't use Smart Delivery, so there are separate versions for Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and the Xbox One version is on Game Pass.
That's not the point. Pedro said that Gamepass only has next-gen version. Well, NBA says hi

He was referring to Gears 5 and FH4 specifically, not Game Pass as a whole.
If a game has Smart Delivery, then Game Pass will have the next-gen version of the game. This goes for Gears 5 and FH4, for example.
If a game doesn't have Smart Delivery, then Game Pass could have the next-gen version or the previous-gen version, or both. It depends on what the publisher wants. For NBA 2K21 (and a few other games like Control), they only put the previous-gen version of the game on Game Pass.

He didn't :

This clearly means what i've said. And NBA 2K21 says hi. There is no need for further discussion

You're just going to ignore the comment he was replying to when he said that? 🙄
You're just going to ignore the comment he was replying to when he said that? 🙄
No. I'm not ignoring. But he surely doesn't talk about Smart delivery, just how GamePass is getting ONLY next-gen ( current gen games ) while PS5 does not, only last gen games. And NBA says hi on XSeries. Btw. this comment of his surely also implied that ( and he didn't replied to anyone )
I forgot PSNow only delivers last gen games despite the presence of current gen upgrades.
@mowgly1: Damn, you are correct, NBA 2K21 is the exception. I guess that means all the other next gen games on Gamepass doesn't count, just cause. 😂 No amount of spinning is going to change the fact that Gamepass gives gamers next gen games, Sony offerings doesn't with the exception of Oddworld, just in case you tried to deflect from the facts again. 😎

Dude, that’s backwards compatibility in a nutshell. The only thing is that the xss/xsx just “enhancing” it. MS just put a nice little phrase on it. What is different from what xsx is doing to Gears 5 over the x1 version that the ps5 isn’t doing to Days Gone, or GoT over the ps4 version?

With Smart Delivery, you are running a completely different version of the game built specifically for the console you are playing it on. When you play on Xbox Series S/X, you are not getting the Xbox One version; you are getting a version of the game specifically built for Xbox Series S/X, which means it can take advantage of things like faster loading and ray tracing.
With games like Days Gone and and Ghost of Tsushima, when you play them on PS5, you are getting the PS4 version but with as few configuration options changed. You are not getting a version of the game specifically built for PS5. So the game runs faster, but it doesn't do anything else.
There are some PS4 games that do have a different version on PS5, a bit like Smart Delivery. Miles Morales is one of them. But it only works with digital purchases, not discs, and you still have to actively choose the PS5 version otherwise you will wind up playing the PS4 version in backwards compatibility mode. So not very smart. Smart Delivery takes care of all of that automatically for you, whether you're using a disc or not.

You should get a gig on MS PR team 😆.
Dude, it’s just enhanced, it wasn’t built from the ground up for the xsx/xss. If it was, it wouldn’t run on the x1. Now I’m not saying that GP doesn’t offer any next gen games, I’m just saying that FH4 and Gears 5 isn’t next gen games, it doesn’t matter what MS may call it.

There is practically nothing built for the ground up. No studio is going to build any game engine for a specific piece of hardware from scratch. That nonsensical and overly hyped practiced is dead especially for triple A games. Games made/optimized for Series X|S cannot run on the last gen hardware. as is That does not equate to the games not being possible on the older hardware just that they are different versions to the same game. Also, there is no such thing as "next gen games". Next gen hype is nothing but just hype. These consoles are direct upgrades to the existing consoles. It is equal to CPU, GPU and SSD upgrades on PC. Nothing more and nothing less.
