Is Fable 3 and Gears of war is all thats left of the 360? Are they putting a lot of faith in Kinect taking over or are they just running out of third party exclusives?

They don't have much to work with. Rare is just an avatar company now and Fable is on the way.

Rare is doing Kinect apparently, and stop acting like a fake boy, 360 can be bashed openly.

2005- So, 360 is just out and has one AAA. What's left?

2006- So Gears of War is here along with some AA titles, great, what's left?

2007- So Halo 3, Ace Combat 6, Forza 2, and Mass Effect are here, along with even more AA-scoring titles, great, what's left?

2008- So Gears of War 2, Lost Odyssey, Braid, Fable II etc. etc.

2009- So ODST, Forza 3, etc. etc. etc. etc.

I be seeing a trend here...

This is about the future. No reasonable person would deny the quality of the current library of the Xbox 360 (or PS3 or Wii, for that matter). But, going forward, the Xbox 360 seems to be offering a lot less than its two major competitors. Wii is still fairly lacking in multiplatform titles, but the exclusives it has coming up are unmatched. And Sony has a pretty good exclusive library as well, but it also benefits from the fact that the vast majority of upcoming Xbox 360 games are also coming out for PS3.

not arguing with you but, look at it this way.

If you had the money to buy a couple games per year, why would you spend money on AA games while you can get better games.

I spend my money on games that I'm interested in. I'm not into the whole "let some guy's numerical score determine what I buy" thing, sorry. :D

Besides, if you had money to buy only a couple of games per year, you probably wouldn't be buying a PS3 in the first place. Or that HDTV for that matter.

That trend will be broken eventually, and Xbox 360 is due. It has been on the market for five years, which is over a year and a half longer than the original Xbox was on the market. This console generation in general is longer than your average one, and with the dawn of 3DS and PSP 2, it looks to be coming to an end. I'd be shocked if we didn't see the next Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo consoles at E3 2012. The fact of the matter is, Xbox 360 has very few big exclusives on the horizon and it stands to reason that Microsoft would be saving some possibilities for its next system. Bungie being gone is another big blow.

I think they might wait until around the time a successor to the 3ds and psp 2 is due. As long as the major handhelds don't outperform consoles, it won't seem ridiculous to the average consumer.

Even E3 2012 is a long way off. If the 360 makes it that far.. then what will get the 360 to that point? I'm sure Microsoft isn't planning on Kinect to get them there, and I'm sure they will have more for Christmas 2011 than Kinect-based games (whether Kinect is successful or not).

If they just let Kinect take over then they could potentially be abandoning the "hardcore" gamer going into the next-generation. They would have to do more than just promise a new Halo game for the new Xbox.

There is virtually zero chance of that happening. The home consoles are showing their age. All three are now subject to large scale piracy, they're falling further and further behind PC in terms of graphics, game sizes are getting bigger (which affects Nintendo and Microsoft more than Sony), and many technologies that were standard when the consoles were new are now becoming dated (Wireless-G, USB 2.0, SATA 1, Bluetooth 2.0/2.1, 2.4ghz Radio frequency, 720p standard output, DVD, etc). Further, as many developers have stated, it is difficult to introduce new intellectual properties this late into a console's lifespan. History shows that consumers are more willing to try new IPs near the launch of a new platform.

And Sony has a pretty good exclusive library as well, but it also benefits from the fact that the vast majority of upcoming Xbox 360 games are also coming out for PS3.

Read prior post regarding "The 360 has no future titles"

You're not Microsoft, nor are you the head of a dev/publishing studio, so I don't think you have any say in what's 'due' or not. :D If you saying that we'll see the next gen of consoles at E32012 is true, I find it pretty goddamned hard to believe that the 360 won't get anything for two years.

E3 2012 is a long way off. If the 360 makes it that far.. then what will get the 360 to that point? I'm sure Microsoft isn't planning on Kinect to get them there, and I'm sure they will have more for Christmas 2011 than Kinect-based games (whether Kinect successful or not). If they just let Kinect take over then they could potentially be abandoning the "hardcore" gamer going into the next-generation. They would have to do more than just promise a new Halo game for the new Xbox.

If Microsoft had much planned for 360 between now and 2012, we'd likely be hearing about it. Sure, we're due for another Forza and likely some pleasant surprises at E3 2011, but it's still small scale compared to the Wii and PS3's upcoming exclusives. This is without a doubt the most barren the Xbox 360's upcoming exclusive lineup has been to this point in its history. Further, it's not like Microsoft hasn't suddenly pulled the plug on a platform before.

MS is notorious for announcing titles later than Sony or Nintendo. And anyone with a hint of knowledge on the Xbox's situation in comparison to the 360's can explain in several ways why MS has no reason to pull the plug on the 360 abruptly.

I think they might wait until around the time a successor to the 3ds and psp 2 is due. As long as the major handhelds don't outperform consoles, it won't seem ridiculous to the average consumer.

The wii was "showing its age" the moment it came out, yet it's the most profittable console. Essentially your arguement is based on technology instead of profit, which is all these companies care about. The 360 has been extremely profitable for microsoft as of late.

First off, I never said Xbox 360 wouldn't be getting anything. I said it will be getting very little in comparison to Wii and PS3. Remember that Xbox 360 has been out a full year longer than its competitors, and it is losing first/second party studios fast. Bungie is now multiplatform, Bizzare Creations is part of Activision, Ensemble Studios was dissolved, and Rare has been relegated to Wii Sports knockoffs. And third party exclusives are even less common. The majority of big name third party games are also coming to PS3 and PC (and occasionally even Wii and the handhelds). And like I stated in an above post, the current wave of consoles is looking increasingly dated from a technological standpoint and the next generation handhelds are already almost upon us). There's a reason most consoles are replaced within 3-6 years of their release, even if they still get some games after their successor is released.

[QUOTE="Diviniuz"]Gears 3, Forza, and Kinect along with multiplatform games Kokuro_Kun
But like, TGS and Pax both came and went, there wasn't a secret exclusive or anything? Whats going on? They could make a new perfect dark or Kameo, theirs so much potential their not using :(

Or a exclusive Killer Instinct remake. That would be very nice! But I am really sick of everybody assuming that the 360 is now somehow doomed, because they don't have that many key exclusives lined up so far in the next year or so. The 360's lineup is so great right now that I'll have a hard time playing through all the games I have right now, so a slow down in games isn't going to hurt me, or any other gamer out there. It looks like the 360 is counting on tons of multiplats, a few exclusives, not to mention exclusive DLC, and this Kinect thing. I'm pretty happy with my game library right now, and if it does slow down I may just play my PS3.

You're basing your claims on the severely flawed assumption that the span of a console generation is dictated by a set cycle/ Things like the slumping economy and dev costs being at their highest point in videogame history are pointing to a generation that could easily be longer than those prior. Nor do you know what MS will release in 2011, or 2012, for that matter. As for the tech being dated...all consoles are dated from the moment they are released. And, hell, look at the Wii. It is essentially a slightly revamped Gamecube with motions ensing, and it is the most successful console in history and still selling strong.

did people completely miss the fact that MS announced they are looking for more FPS exclusives? i tell you what, you can't beat the 360 bashers for originality, every year the same threads, '360 got no games coming' and yet every year it stays ahead of the Ps3 in overall sales and quality library, if you are in last place you have not really got the grounds to bash anything, lol
