I've heard it's fairly larger than San Andread, and SA was already HUGE. Is RDR going to have the biggest world in a video game?

You mean Daggerfall, not Arena. The Elder Scrolls Arena is the largest I can think of. There were games before 2004, you know..

and we have to travel by horse? also, how will the game handle music considering there were no Radio Stations in those days.I've heard it's fairly larger than San Andread, and SA was already HUGE. Is RDR going to have the biggest world in a video game?

The dude that did the soundtrack for The Good the Bad and The Ugly, as well as every other great western known to man. He also had two songs in Kill Bill 2, so you might know him from that. It's going to be awesome.I've heard it's fairly larger than San Andread, and SA was already HUGE. Is RDR going to have the biggest world in a video game?

Not even close, Daggerfall was literally close to the size of Great Britain.
If you played Fuel or San Andreas or Just Cause 2, here is an accurate depiction of Daggerfall's size:

Yeaaaaa....
Possibly. I think the open spaces will be used for hunting and stuff, they won't go to waste. Maybe animals will respawn. I didn't find the open spaces in GTA: SA to be a waste at all.One has to wonder wether the work that goes into making the world as large as in Just Cause 2 doesn't go to waste. In other words, how necessary/usefull is it to have such a large world? Isn't it just one big waste of resources/time?

Game looks incredibly cliche to me, from the scenery to the characters. I'll still end up buying it, probably, but I gotta bad feelin' about it...

As for RDR it looks amazing.. I plan on doing it all on foot/horse rather then train. :)

holy crap thats big.....i remember reading that it would take something like 2 weeks of straight walking to get from one end to the other (assuming nothing got in your way diring the trip). dang....why arent games that big today? instead of developing all the content for an area so big, a dev could open up sub quest development to the mod community during development or something and have modding tools for the game ready to go from day one. maybe organise certain teams into developing the smaller towns also. if the game is successful then give them a share of the profits. by the the game is finished..it would be massive and have tens of thousands of quests and many things to do. screw it..who needs life with a game like that? :P.One of the reasons Daggerfall is so huge is that it's randomized and much of the game is duplicated. You also had a ton of duplicate NPC's and a handful of unique NPC's (which sometimes looked like the rest of the herd). Also most of the side quests were very similar (ie go to dungeon & kill so and so, then return). If they could only perfect that randomization engine, optimize the Fallout 3 engine and place it in the setting of Daggerfall the game would be legendary.
just cause 2 is the biggestG-O-M-J
Thats true. BUT RDRs world is a fully dynamic world with an eco-system and everthing so its more "THE MOST DETAILED SANDBOX" ever game
So far, Just Cause 2 should have the 1st place for big world. We'll see 'bout redemption. it's not hard to make a huge desert tho...Crimsader
BUT most of Just Cause 2's map is just mountain terrain with nothing but roads and not much to do. In RDR you actually have many different live cities with NPC's revolving around their own lives and there is tons of stuff to do out in the deserts.
arma 2 is bigger
2uneek4u
Its only like 86 square miles, if RDR is 2 times bigger then SA it's gonna come close to 100 sq miles.

Not much to do? There are missions, races, villages to be destroyed, bases, ect scattered all through the mountains. Hell all over the entire map for that matter. Of course the towns and NPCs are going to be more lively in RDR, but saying that there is nothing to do in JC2 is flat out wrong. The game is packed with things to do (and find) all over the map.
Test Drive Unlimited was literally Oahu. How's that compared to other games?
EDIT: Eh, not even close, but being a real place is pretty cool.
Daggerfall looks huge but random generation for some of the world might make it a bit unfair to add it in. As it stands, RDR was called biggest for a Rockstar game, not biggest overall. JC2 takes that, followed by Fuel than Daggerfall.
EDIT: I meant Daggerfall was biggest, then Fuel than JC2.

You can use DaggerXL to run Daggerfall on modern systems, but it's still on early development. It's not possible to create characters and interact with NPCs yet.
