better storyTykainOH U I love both and I've played Resident Evil 5 a lot more but I gotta say Dead Space
survival horror dead space action/adventure/shooter Resident evil 5 best overall game? i would say RE5 however i consider RE5 like a completely different game with out the resident evil name attached to it cause thats exactly it. however i know a lot of people will disagree cause without the co op RE5 completly falls flat on it's face in just plain sucks however if you play it with a good friend like i have it insanely fun however the story for RE5 is so so so so so bad and chessy that it's actually kinda comical
i like both alot. RE5 has much higher production values and it shows. The AI in RE5 can be frustrating sometimes. Resi 5 is not scarey at all. RE5 has alot more flair and epicness to it but there are some design flaws in some parts, but RE5 has more replay value. Its a hard call because i like both.
I had to pick RE5, as I havent played Dead Space, and even if I did, I doubt I'd play through Dead Space 4+ times.
Dead Space was RE 4 in a scary setting, with some nice moments to startle you...thats about it.... jg4xchampNo. Dead Space's big influence is Sysytem Shock 2. Both have spaceship taken over by aliens, one man taking orders over a walkie talkie and audio logs lying around to tell the story.

I thought Bioshock was the spiritual successor to SS2. So we pretty much have DS, SS2 with a TPS style gameplay and Bioshock, SS2 with a new coat of paint and in FPP

Dead Space is significantly more like System Shock 2 than Bioshock (in spite of the fact that the latter is supposedly its "spiritual successor"), actually, and FAAAAAR more like System Shock 2 than Resident Evil 4. FULL DISCLOSURE: I loved the bejeesus out of System Shock 2, so I voted for its more recent incarnation. Seriously. Dead Space is System Shock 2 without SHODAN and without the wrench. My vote goes to Dead Space. RE5 became too much of an action game. And then no zombies?!? Dead space was intense. I ran out of ammo quite a few times and relied on stasis to slow em down and melee'd em to death...plus one of the most vicious stomps in recent memory. Issac would dismember Chris then have his way with Sheva
I love Resident Evil 5 butI've gotta go withDead Space. Although Dead Space doesn't have Resident Evil 5's replayability, the story, gameplay and overall atmosphere are just too well done. Its just a more immersive game in my opinion. I also feel that the control scheme in RE is a little outdated for my tastes.
I dont have the funds for RE5 but alot of my friends speak highly of it. As for Dead Space it also a awesome game get both or at least play both they each bring something good to the table.
For actual atmosphere, Dead Space, and gore probably. But, story and overall satisfaction went to RE:5. I love both though :)

Levine said that the Bioshock team made a conscious decision to go away from SS2 after trying to make a spiritual successor to SS2 didn't seem to really be 'resonating' with anybody. What's better?
I haven't played Dead Space but I love Re5.
Neither are better, both are different. Both are very, very good games. DeadSpace was scarier than RE5, but RE5 was still a very fun game. Now that I have thoroughly played both games, I refuse to choose between either, and will just say that I love both. (Button mashing does get old, though... I wish they would take that out of RE5)DS was a shallow experience in my book. While some concepts and ideas are great, the story/characters pale in comparison to RE5. DS is one of those games you beat once and just never touch it again, Developers could have done more concerning replay value. Have some mode similar to RE's popular mercenaries..atleast, to make up for its shortcomings. If you want to make a game all about single player, make sure the story has depth and interesting characters to keep you entertained. Slambo86How does Deadspaces story pale to RE5? I mean, really... do you think the RE5 story is THAT deep? Sure, its fun, but its nothing more than a popcorn story. Deadspaces story was much more intriguing. Also, games these days seem to always come with the obligatory "multiplayer" in some sort or fashion. Why does it have to have this to be replayable? I played Deadspace through three times and loved every bit of it. The game had plenty of story and depth. Did you check out any of the viral campaign this thing had going for it before it even hit the shelves? Oh, and your sig.... no. :) You should reverse the characters. ;)
