Its been 2 days since mp3 released and by now most of you that have it have played it for a while. Do you still disagree with the gamespot review? does it deserve more or less? I remember when zelda tp was reviewed all the sheep were going on a rampage but after they played the game alot of them would agree with the review or see where he was coming from.

Definetly 9.0+ material. It's a better game than MP1, I've had more fun playing the first 5 hours than both MP1 and MP2 combined....honestly...

I couldn't care less about the review but yeah I disagree with it. IMO it's a 9.5. Oh and when you said "people with a wii", that's appreciated cuz I don't like being called a sheep ;).

I dont know what score the game deserves, I don't really like Metroid, but the reasons they marked it down for in the review were freaking ridiculous. They gave it the "Great Sequel" badge, which says it does something new and exciting, but knocked it for feeling to much like the other two. Also, can the Wii not win as far as controls go? For a year they have been knocking every game for weak controls, and when one comes out that pulls off the control system great, they say it makes the game "to easy".

I disagree with aspects of the review. For instance, he knocks it for being more like a FPS because of the wii controls, but I find it still plays a lot like the old Prime games, just smother to aim and lock on enemies. I played the first two Prime games, and so far its different enough (story) to set it apart. The visuals are also an improvement since the texture resolution is a lot higher than anything I've ever seen on GC. Also the bloom lighting and smoke effects are top notch.

It easily deserves a 9.0+..just the first hour of playing it..blows sooo many other games out of the water..the controls..are..perfect..it's hard to go back and play with a normal controller.

I've just finished it today. I don't still completely agree with the reveiw this game is way better than MP2 was. So I think it still should have got a 9.0 but what do I know? Now if there was only a way for me to get Bioshock(I'm broke:cry: )

I honestly hated that MP3 review for reasons other than the score.

It was one of the very worst written reviews I've seen on GSpot.

I mean its jumbled, incoherent, and for like 90% of it it is actually praising the game and then its like

"no HD graphics blah, nitpick this and that, we don't like reading or listening so we didn't understand the plot, no multiplayer blah blah FPS"

SERIOUSLY, any site that calls MP a FPS doesn't get it.

I mean look at the critics say column next to the GS score. 9.5! press average.

That was a terrible review, a really really good game.

I'd personally give it a 9.4 maybe a 9.5.

I'm almost at the end of Bioshock and about 4 hours into Metroid. I always try to keep an open mind but I disagree with both reviews for these games. Bioshock is truly a piece of art, it runs well on medium-end pc's and the launch problems shouldn't be a factor to determine a game that took months to complete seeing how launch problems are resolved after launch. Metroid on the other hand controls superb, it follows the same formula as the others but then again what game doesn't? The GTA's, Metal Gears, Halo's defitnely do. Metroid improves in every aspect and shows off a new type of FPS gaming and that's what every high quality game should do. Now 8.5 and 9.0 are amazing scores, but just as my opinion both should've scored higher.

The game is so polished and is just plain fun. I can't wait to leave work and finish the section I'm in currently. So far I like it better than Zelda TP. Dont' agree with the score at all.

I honestly don't understand the arcane logic the reviewers at Gamespot employ when churning out these things. This review is almost as off as many of the reviews for my favorite PC games in the past.

After having played this game for about 10 hours now, I have to say that there is nothing keeping this game from a 9.0. The only gripe I have is the semi-frequent load times, but other than that I am enjoying it much more than the other Primes.

My sentiments exactly. The funny thing is that leading up to the release of MP3, I went through the series chronologically (Metroid: Zero Mission, Metroid Prime, Hunters, Prime 2) and it is great I did because it is plain to see the differences in the game. Although, I'm pretty sure I would have seen them had I not done that.

i know it seems boring but this does prove my point have a look see

10.0: Prime This exceedingly rare score refers to a game that is as perfect as a game can aspire to be at its time of release. Obviously, the constantly changing standards for technology and gameplay will probably make this game obsolete some day, but at its time of release, a game earning this score could not have been improved upon in any meaningful way.

9.0-9.5: Superb We absolutely recommend any game in this range, especially to fans of that particular genre. However, games that score in the 9 range are also typically well suited to new players. Games that earn 9s are naturally uncommon, and earn GameSpot's Editors' Choice Award for their outstanding quality.

8.0-8.5: Great This range refers to great games that are excellent in almost every way and whose few setbacks probably aren't too important. We highly recommend games in the upper half of this range, since they tend to be good enough to provide an enjoyable experience to fans of the particular genre and to new players alike.

7.0-7.5: Good A game within this range is good overall, and likely worth playing by fans of the particular genre or by those otherwise interested. While its strengths outweigh its weaknesses, a game that falls in this range tends to have noticeable faults.

6.0-6.5: Fair Games that earn 6-range ratings have certain good qualities but significant problems as well. These games may well be worth playing, but you should approach them with caution.

5.0-5.5: Mediocre A 5-range score refers to a game that's "merely average" in the negative sense. These games tend to have enough major weaknesses to considerably outweigh their strengths. There's probably a substantially better, similar game out there for you.

4.0-4.5: Poor Games that just don't work right and maybe didn't spend enough time in production tend to fall in to this category. They simply lack the cohesion and quality that make other games fun.

3.0-3.5: Bad You probably shouldn't get too close to a game in this range. Any of its positive qualities most likely serve only to make the rest of it seem even more disappointing.

2.0-2.5: Terrible Beware, for a game in this range is almost entirely devoid of any remotely decent or fully functional features.

1.0-1.5: Abysmal Ouch. The rare game that falls in this lowest-of-the-low range has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Don't play this game.

You have to keep in mind that games with a said rating are naturally compared in quality with other games with a similar rating. If you've played Warioware, you'd wonder why Prime 3 is scored that much lower. Granted, they are different kinds of games, but quality is quality regardless.

I Think the review is garbage ...... about 7 hours into the game and it is the best in the series so far. It is the only game in a LONG time to completly WOW me ...... it deserves a 9.0 minimum, even if you were being unfairly hard on the game it should get a 9.0

anyways im just saying that by gamespot standards an eight 8.5 is'nt a flop just like heavenly sword isnt technically a flop (though i was expecting a little more from that game)

After playing it for about 4 hours, I have to say I disagree with the score. I'm not even a huge fan of the Metroid series, but I'm having more fun playing the first 4 hours of this one than I had during the entire time I played the first one (which I still haven't finished, and I haven't touched the second one). The controls are brilliant; at one point I aimed and shot a small little fuel gel thing from across the map to light it on fire with incredible ease.

The only thing that slightly disappoints me are the graphics, but that's probably because I'm running it with composite cables on an HDTV. It doesn't really bother me with the huge scale and the fast framerate.

P.S. The second boss fight was *insane*.

Agreed. Every boss fight so far was great. One thing I always liked about Metriod was the variety of environments, MP3 environments are way more varied and you start off powered-up in this one so the pace is faster also.

No I actually don't agree. Playing through the game the controls are amazing and it's a step up in every way for the MP series. Gameplay is faster paced, at 60 FPS mind you, while looking more beautiful than ever. I haven't beaten the game yet but so far I'd say it's a 9.0 experience.

prime 3 stomps Twillight princess and wario ware into the ground. how if t did not get a 9 is unknown to me. the two things i was dissapointed about when it comes to cooruption are the game ending and the last boss being a bit to easy for a last boss. then again last bosses seem to be getting easier and easier. general ram on insane three tries... Last boss on prime (wont spoil it for those that dont know) one try. oh for those of you that did not know that general ram was the last boss on gears... catch the f up will ya!

the game is gorgious! if you have a freind with the wii and owns the game go check it out. there is this cook glow to everything! the level design is just amazingly well made! i love the game. I seriously was having troubles making myself finish bioshock so i could play prime 3. i kept saying i can always come back to bioshock after i am done. and bioshock is an amazing game. i just like the controls on prime 3 so much more. they are so fluid and i feel like i am almost playing a pc FPS. i aim up and pop a few head shots left right all as fast as my hand moves. none of that waiting for the analog to catch up crap that annoys me to no ends! the 360 really needs to add kb&mouse support in there next update!

i would not give prime 3 a 9.5 like ign did. i would give it a 9. right even with bioshock. they are just about as good respectivly speaking. the story in bioshock was better, the art is really even, the contorls in prime 3 are perfect. (when i read about people having trouble jumping in ball form i dont get it because only once did it not read my motion for jump. then i realized i tryed to jump before my morph ball was on the ground again and that is why it did not jump)

this game is worth owning! if you have a wii and dont own this game you are missing out! go pick it up!

In short, there's no one in this entire thread who has played the game, and actually aggrees with the review. I haven't played it yet :(, but even if I didn't have the slightest clue what the review was about, all the contradictions would still be painfully obvious.

I dont really care about what score it got. I find it to be an amazing game in its own right and 8.5 is still "great" in GS land. But after reading the review and playing several hours into the game I'm left scratching my head. How could they be so off?

Disagree wholeheartedly with the Gamespot review. It feels like an entirely different game from the first two. It feels like what Metroid Prime should have been in the first place. It also feels like what the Metroid series should have been from the start. The combination of the "alone" atmosphere with a spoken narrative destroys what I have come to believe was "Metroid" by definition. Prime 3 is "Metroid." What Metroid was meant to be... and where the evolution of the series should be pushed.

Ever since the start of the series, you have been implied to be working for the Galactic Federation but never actually directly involved in their operations. In Prime 3 you are and that is what made me love the game from the start. So far, this game is my favourite Metroid ever (that is a lot coming from me, someone who could not choose one Metroid over another (other than Hunters)). It is an entirely different kind of adventure. You feel like you are actually on a mission to save the galaxy, instead of just on a lone planet somewhere fighting Space Pirates and Metroids.

The experience I've had so far is superior to BioShock in every way. Of course, the experience itself is not the same but I feel much more impressed with Prime 3's artstyIe, settings, technical graphical doodads and all around amazing level of polish then BioShock. My adventure in Rapture was extraordinarily enjoyable... but this... this is something else... something completely out of this world.

The only thing that has disappointed a lot in so far is Samus's lack of spoken narrative. She had one (lots of it) in Metroid Fusion and it added a whole other level to the narrative of the game. Samus has never been a silent protagonist and when she "talks" I love to listen, her insight into things is brilliant in Fusion... Retro made a horrible choice by not letting Jennifer Hale, supreme sexy herself Bastila Shan, do a wonderful job with Samus Erin (its spelt ah-rahn, in Japanese it would be said as ah-rah-n, its ah-rahn).

This is where I dislike the .0 or .5 reviewing system that GS now has.

The game is wonderful, but I am hardly in as much awe as the first time I tossed the first Metroid Prime into my Gamecube, and NO WHERE near the awe the first time Super Metroid was inserted into my SNES.

MP3 is a great game, but all flaming aside graphically and technically Wii is lightyears behind 360 and PS3 and as such when you are weighing it against what is coming out on those two consoles its hard to hand out a 9.0+ when something like BioShock got that score. If the review was comparing MP3 to anything we have seen on Wii thus far its a 9.5 without question, but the reviews place all next gen consoles on the same footing and are judged by the same standard and that is where Wii is being hurt.

8.5 is reasonable, although I would have handed it an 8.8.

I think its completely retarded that the review says the game is too easy due to the controls. how is it easier?! you lock on to the enemies in all metroids you dont need to aim well. the new controls add a lot of depth and make the game way more fun. like the parts while ur ziplining and you have to shoot things out of your way. you couldnt do that on the old metroids.

at times like this, i hate being a european gamer... >_>

Sounds like there's a lot of positive feedback about the game.

Do you all think MP3 has set the standard for fps controls for the wii? It sounds like it at the moment, and imo, that is more important than some number on the Gamespot site.

Deserves at least a 9. I couldn't play the first 2, not my type of game, but the 3rd one is so much more addicting, it's the best one in the series IMO.

Yeah it has set a good standard for FPS controls on wii. I wish it was a little faster at times, or at least had included a sensetivity adjustment. But it works great with out that. Ironically, Far Cry on wii had a similar view lock feature that let you lock the view looking at enemies, and aim on the screen while moving and strafing. But that was a terrible game in all other aspects.
