So the video game critic over at Forbes just absolutely ripped Sea of Thieves apart.

Every single bad review that is coming in lems are like "Fake reviews, horrible critics forbes and CG are trash" - this was the damage control that was expected.

A while back, I added Forbes to my RSS feed. I quickly learned not to ever trust their opinion on video games.

Even Lems are seeing it. When or IF Crackdown 3 releases, it'll be clear MS sucks at making games and is all about the $green$.

If it is all about the $green$ wouldn't Microsoft want to create good games that appeal to all players to make money? That doesn't even make sense what you said. Games make consoles sale and it is the reason PS4 is the market leader currently and Nintendo is kicking ass.

@Xabiss: You would think so... Make cheap games that are 10% complete for $60 or early access games (beta games) for $30. It'll only last so long before people catch on. I can feel confident spending $60 on Nintendo games because of their reputation. Same can be said of Sony's and also Sony's hardware like TVs... I know I'm getting a good product. MS Xbox division reputation has been going downhill since 2013. They've appealed to some with much needed changes to hardware and adding BC, but that just stopped the bleeding for a bit. Last year was bad for MS exclusives. This year looks to be just as bad. Just like 360 owners flocked to PS4 this gen, X1 owners will flock to PS5 if this keeps up. Good thing Nintendo is putting up some competition for Sony.

@hrt_rulz01: Like I said to another Lem, we only get this chance a few times a year(next up will be Crackdown 3). It's entertaining watching MS fail(Not so much for Rare though... Good memories with their games). If God of War flops (under a 7), feel free to do the same.

You want Microsoft to fail. Why? Does it really hurt anything if they are part of the market or not? If you don't like their products that is fine, but I see no issue with Microsoft being part of the competition. I don't think I have ever wished any company to fail. But, with that line above I will never argue another thing with you. You can never look at something subjectively when you just want them to fail for no reason.

@Xabiss: Who said I have no reason? It's mostly my disdain for Windows. And some of it is just karma from the trash thrown at me last gen when I owned a PS3. Mostly all in fun though. I'm a competitive person... Especially in sports. Anyways, system wars and all that isn't the place for subjective discussions.

Right? There's a lesson here. Don't get so starved where you're playing defense force for anything just because it's on your console of choice. If you double down on defending something strictly because new content has been slim, then that's a sign you're backing the wrong horse.

Game Informer tore it a new one.

I bought a gamepass for 3.95 euros a month ago and activated it for sea of thieves. I think it's fun but you need to play it with friends. It's not something to play by yourself or play with strangers (or it is they commit to the cause).

I think a lot of reviews are missing the point of this game, and the fact that you can play it for next to nothing. Full price is a bit much, but if you like the team work it can be quite fun.

It's also a typical playstation generation review, this game isn't about cutscenes and graphics (allthough the sea is very well done), it's about the multiplayer mechanics. There's a lot of dept in there, setting sail , angling the sail , anchoring, the amount of wheel turns on the ship. Storing ammo, planks and food (which you loot) for later battles.

Mastering this game will not be easy since you will need multiple players to know exactly what they are doing. A good crew will rip you apart otherwise.

I knew quite fast when I started that this game means business, I scraped a rock because I was struggling with the sails (just started the game, so was still figuring out the controls). That rock made a couple of small holes in my boat and not that much later I was sinking. I swam down the lower deck and there they were, the holes lol. Then I drowned.

Why would anybody buy this trash when actual great looking games like Far Cry 5 and God of War are right around the corner? $60 and they have you literally fighting tentacles without a body. But PS4 owners are supposed to be the weebs right? Lmao.

They probably got enough pre-orders and then thought they'd just cease development and keep costs low.

They definitely should have taken advantage of Game Pass. I activated the 14 day free trial to play Sea of Thieves. I am pretty much done with the game already. So, I didn't spend anything on it.

I dare say most people will play it using Game Pass. It's kind of smart of MS to put such a ridiculous price on the retail version, that way most people will use their Game Pass trial or even subscribe as it ends up much cheaper.

MS knows the game is a stinker, but getting people in the Game Pass front door is good marketing. You will have those who don't further their subscription, but there will be plenty who do.

@uitravioience: I’m sure the vast majority of people that have tried the game have used the gamepass. MS have heavily promoted that it is part of the scheme.

But yeah, it sucks for those that have shelled out 50 bones for it.

I see SoT as a fun little game to play with friends, that's it. I never thought it would be super deep, with gameplay elements we've never seen before, revolutionizing multiplayer games as we know it. It sounds like it was hyped up to be just that, according to Sony gamers.

I personally think for what SoT is, it's too expensive. About half the price would be good, as there are indie games out there with more content for 10 bucks. I'm still interested in the game, but I might wait for it to get some updates and a lower price. I just sincerely hope there's no microtransactions, that would make me skip it. If this game is gonna cost 60 bucks with the amount of content it has now, then we'd better get free updates.

Yep same there. Game Pass really came in handy, SoT is a fun game with friends but MS asking $60 for this type of game is just not worth it and if this was a $20 is what it really should have been since State of Decay 2 is gonna be $30.

I couldn't really care what Forbes thinks tbh - it's one of those games that's worth checking out and making up your own mind about, and if you don't like it fair enough - it's worth a pop.
