So there's no Nintendo Direct this month and the haters were right. Will Switch momentum die?

@AzatiS: That wasn't my point.... I was responding to the thread that just because there was no direct announcing q1 games, the sky wasn't falling. Upcoming games looked slim across the industry.

Besides this thread is irrelevant now.

I know , dont mind me. Trolling a bit

Or has Nintendo dropped the ball and started a path to their inevitable downfall as a console maker?

Don't people say this all the time ??? hell, if we had Internet on the 80's, i bet there would have been a forum post predicting the NES as Nintendo's final nail in the coffing.

@techhog89: I never predicted a huge collapse in 2018. If they release a brand new Pokemon or Smash Bros in 2018 then Switch sales will see a pretty big spike. My prediction of 35 million is without question a low bar estimate, but its intentional because if they can beat that I will be highly impressed, especially after the Wii U failure. As I've said time and time again I want Nintendo to prove me wrong.

That estimate requires a collapse though, since even matching last year would land sales around 26-30 million by the end of the year, and Nintendo systems usually sell more in year 2 than in year 1 (the 3DS and Wii U were exceptions, but it's pretty easy to figure out why they were exceptions). And a few months ago you were calling that a high bar and a "success."

@AzatiS At least you admit it now.

People will want a Switch as long as it's the in-thing. It's probably at the point now where it can go a few months without a significant release and still do well.

People have been saying this for years. It's always been a short-sighted view that fundamentally misunderstands Nintendo as a business. Only last year I was debating numerous people who assumed that NX/Switch would be a failure and that Nintendo should go third-party. That clearly worked well for them.
