I personally think i m backing off after this gen i mean i m 20 years old and i have other things to look after and i ve been playing for far too long.

I played most of the best games every gen and i owned atleast 2 consoles since the ps2 era. But its getting tiresom and i dont like the way things are going for gaming so i m kinda done. Last game i bought for a console was heavy rain at the beggining of this year and the witcher for pc like 1 week ago just because it was very cheap.

Anyone else with me? anyone else not feeeling it anymore?

I m done with my ps3 after this gen, it was a great ride great games but i need to move on, i ll keep my gaming rig and check a game or two out if they are interesting enough in the coming years but thats about it.

What about you?

No clue I can't plan where the industry heads towards, if the situation for consoles is completely useless I'll just switch to the PC, handhelds, and old games.

I am not sure if I will ever be done with gaming, but I may never buy another console once my kids move out and just stick to PC.

I agree, I'm very very interested to see what Nintendos next console will be like, but I don't want them to bring it out yet, as the Wii has only just got going Imo.

Dude, I'm 20 as well. I feel the EXACT same way. I've lost the feeling I had for gaming in my younger days. When a new game I would want would be coming out, it'd feel like the next Star Wars (that is..if I was a starwars fan) movie would be releasing.

I had a 360, didn't do ANYTHING for me. I don't know what it was, everything was just missing style.

I used to love RPGs, I got the Witcher/Dragon Age...can't even finish them. These games would've made me gamegasm if I still had the enthusiasm. T

he only games I can really get into nowadays are just skill-based pick up and play games like shoot em ups, classic games, and competitve (sometimes PC) games like League of Legends, Street Fighter 4 I have no idea if I'm going to upgrade my PC in the future, I've used my PC the most, but the thing is I really haven't bought many games for it other than steam sales that are too hard to pass up.

EDIT: to answer your question. I might buy a 3DS since the handhelds have stayed reminiscent to the older consoles. I liked last gen, so the 3DS being gamecubish is ok with me. I just think games are looking so sterile now that they lose their artistic style.

PCwise, I dunno...if there's more games like ARMA/Starcraft2 out there I might feel compelled to upgrade, but for now I'm fine. Spent $1500 on this rig, and feels like I haven't even got my moneys worth game wise. Future funds that would be going to gaming is going to my home music studio instead.

There was a stage about a year or so back where I thought I needed to give up gaming. I was about to turn 18 & thought it was getting in the road of other things. I gave up for a month or so, but realised I had so much free time after doing school work, social stuff & sport. Half the social stuff was pointless & boring as well (like hanging at the mall with mates). Decided as long as it didn't have an effect on my education/career, family or friends, I'll keep gaming. So I never plan to stop... Unless this casual trend gets out of hand.

Doesn't make sense to me. If you've been gaming for 15+ years like I have to just stop because its not the "cool" or "mature" thing to do then you shouldn't be a gamer in the 1st place.

The moment Sony drops out of the gaming biz, is the moment I give up gaming. Call me whatever you want to call me but Sony has consistently given me great experiences with their Playstation brand that no other brand or platform has been able to match to this day. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the other platforms don't offer great experiences because they do. I'm just saying that compared to the Playstation brand, the great experiences on the other platforms are just too few far in between. So in short, wherever the Playstation brand goes, I go. :)

Console wise I ended it middle of this gen. I sold all my consoles and am now 100% dedicated to PC gaming. As for gaming in general, well I guess until the day I die.

If anything, my Dreamcast will stay with me, until whatever progeny I have is old and mature enough to have it passed on with them, and give it the proper TLC to continue being usable and useful. I think safely, I am quite done with Sony after this generation. I've had it with their corporate arrogance in trying to dictate what I can or can't do with my console. Even the 360 has been infinitely more manageable by comparison, and the Wii will likely still be useful to me even after its successor arrives.

I feel what your saying. I have a friend I just got in a fight with because he said he is too grown up to game and I should think about that. Though if you ask me, we are the ones grown up, we are doing what we love and do not care what others think. I am only 21 though, but I will be where you are one day, no doubt. Game on brotha.

i'm 29 and what am sure of is that i wont have more the 1 system next gen... this gen went all out and got all consoles + a handheld but realised i have much less free time to spend on gaming, so it was a bit of mistake..

Probably next gen i'll get 1 console or a gaming PC and stick to it + maybe a handheld (maybe)...

I agree that games feel reharses more and more, but there are still some that feel fresh, like the new Zelda, Fable 3, Whispered World, Demon Soul, Mass Effect, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragonetc that still make you feel like the first time you played a game

So, while gaming is indeed going the worst way, there will always be glimpses of brilliance that i will want to play and keep in my collection, they are getting fewer though indeed

I do not spend much time playing either, i play only the worthy games long time, RPGs and adventures mostly, the others are a day rent anyway, like GOW3, Uncharted 1-2, Killzone etc

BTW, i always had, have and will have all systems in existance, excluding handhelds, but lately i have a huge desire to grab a 3DS also :)

I'm 34 now. I've not played as much the last 18 months as I used to as I sold my consoles and moved to a different country. I still play the odd PC game though, and I'll pick up a console this autumn, and a Handheld when the 3DS launches.

I don't think I'll ever quit completely.

THIS. But id just give up on Consoles and continue on PC.

Another thing, I would not stop gaming till I die..or become incapable of doing so.

Gaming isnt just a hobby, its what I grew up with (thanks to 90's PC games and a special thanks to the PS1), its what got me interested in electronics..software...machines in general which lead to my interest in science; physics then maths and what I study now...all because of video games? yes.

Altho I do admit, when I was a kid, back in the 90's, gaming was just so much more..

You must not have friends that play. I'm pretty sure Ill keep playing games, probably not in the same fashion that I do now, having a job after school, a family, wont leave much time open, but I'm sure it will be a part of my life in some way or another. I already back down my playing time school is in session, but I still find time to play the games with my friends.

I gamed from 9 to 15 then I got to HS and started playing sports &girlsand left gaming alone. Missed all of Gen 5 & Gen 6. I bought a PSP in 2007 when I was 27....love it, but Im running low on space. TC you area gamer for life man. You arejust bored with it at the moment. And I can dig that. Gen 7 looks very strong and I dont see Gen 8 til 2016, especially with all the motion games that are coming out now. Youll be back.

If you pay rent/morg, utlities and maintain a solid career or job then what you do out of work can never be classified as immature. NEVER. If the bills are paid people need to shut their yaps.

Now if you live with a girlfriend, mother or grandmother do not pay bills and are unemployed and you are a gamer...that is the individual that makes most gamers look bad, so dont be That Guy.

PS3 is my last console. I barely have any time to play videogames now and I'm still in college. I've also lost interest in games as I've grown older. I still have one more good year of gaming left in me though. 8)
