WiiU this year, near towards the end of the year.
PS4 some time next year. (probably the first half)

Wii U and 3DS. I don't think I'll have enough money for a PS4 by the holidays so I'll probably end up holding off a bit longer on it.
Well I'm going to own all three next gen consoles. But at launch there's nothing for the PS4 or XB1 that excites me so I doubt I'll be playing them much. Since there are quite a few Wii U games I'm excited for so that's the console I will be playing the most so that's technically my answer.
unless ps4 comes out with a couple more games that interest me Im going to pick up the X1 first then ps4 maybe next year
Will be gaming on my 360 and 3DS primarily for another year at the very least.Â
None of the new consoles will be worth owning until then.Â
I won't be getting a next-gen console unless X1 goes back to their original policies, which won't happen.
Â
So I'm getting the steambox. When it comes out.
Not sure.
It's easy for me to get enthusiastic behind a platform, they all make me enthusiastic, but when it comes down to plunking down hard currency to buy some of this schit, I admit I'm throughly confused about my own needs, the various platform features, exclusives, hardware/software synergy, and downright fun factor.
On the PC side there's just soooo many games but also so much potential schit to buy, from new vid cards, to new mice, MMO subscriptions, Facebook stuff, steam stuff, origin stuff, GMG stuff, gog stuff. If I budgeted literally $500/month towards PC gaming, I could find non-trivial ways to spend it, and that's a little scary. It's almost like gaming has become a money pit. Every little thing is an extra 10 here, 15/month there, dlc, new expansion, not to mention hot hardware like Oculus Rift, multiple monitors, a new laptop, etc. Granted I don't "have" to get this stuff, but if I want to keep being excited by technology I kinda do. Medium on a PC might be better than max on a console, but it's still MEDIUM, the slider is taunting me, harassing me, laughing at my puny setup, "are you a real man? Get a GTX580 scrub!" PC gaming may be all the woman I'll ever need, I just don't know if I can afford her.
Xbox side, I'm battered and confused. I spent years having fun on my 360, paying the crummy 50/year and picking out budget games to burn thru, I swear I had the time of my life. But now they come out with this "Xbone" that seems more like a cable box than a console, I have no idea what the online pricing will be, I hear they will have MMO's and multiple tiers, and "game sharing" will be different, not to mention a big ol corporate CAMERA facing into my bedroom. Really Microsoft? But then I look at the announced exclusives and my mouth drools, GOD I want to play these games so bad. I know for a fact that I'll be happy with an Xbone but won't I be happier just upgrading my rig? Or with a PS4? I just can't answer that. I don't know.
Honestly the only safe bet seems to be the PS4, but where are the exclusives? So far the only thing I give a crap about is Second Son. Not to mention the rumored mandatory online fee, Facebook interface, etc etc. And I'm still not convinced that despite having great hardware, Sony still won't manage to certify broken games like they did with the PS3. When you put out a game like Skyrim and put your NAME on it, it needs to run FLAWLESSLY. I wouldn't let a company use my family name on the disk and have a game lag to 0 fps. What happened to Japanese "honor" and all that stuff, I thought they were supposed to be better than greedy old Microsloth, turns out they're the same schit in the different bag.
So there you go, my assessment on all 3 platforms for "next gen."
I honestly can't say which I'll buy or which I won't, all that I can say certainly is that there are some games on the PC I can't live without, like strategy games, Airline Tycoon and the occaisional WoW bender.
For "blockbuster" games like Mass Effect, Ass Creed and such, the consoles still seem like the best bet to get a consistent product, without having to remember multiple logins like the Bioware site to get a DLC. Between Xbone and PS4, the PS4 seems like the obvious choice, but I'm starting to have my doubts, and my nostalgia from all the good times I've had on the 360 and all the slow ass downloads I had on the PS3.
Maybe it turns out I *am* an Xbox guy at heart. Or maybe it turns out the PC was the only platform worth owning all along, I'll be broke but at least I won't have a kinect camera watching me f*ck hot girls, with a bunch of creepy ass Microsoft marketing types peeping.
F*ck you Microsoft.
F*ck you EA.
F*ck you Origin.
F*ck you DRM.
F*ck you Sony.
You pieces of schit, no wonder the gaming population is going down. It's you jerkoffs driving people away with your DLC horse armor and your incomplete broken games.
Whatever I get next gen, you can believe I'll be a smart shopper and check every deal 50 times before I buy anything. You people made me this way.
WiiU as I sense a pricedrop and bundle are in order this holiday.Â
Hopefully some android-based systems like Ouya, MOJO, or maybe a tablet with HDMI-out.
PC will dominate as always. Dropping either 7850 low-pro, or riser card/ribbon 7790 into my htpc.Â
Not sure.

First off, I acually read this unlike most. Second, I share your exact thoughts. I clearly had more fun with the 360 this gen, I pplayed it WAY more than my PS3 which largely sat collecting dust until a ND exclusive came out. PS4 seems like the logical choice right now, but I just have no faith in Sony- that they won't make stupid design decisions like they did with the PS3 (crappy PSP interface, the buddy chat issues they had, horrible online and atrocious download and install speeds). But dayum, those exclusives! I don't know if I can live with myself missing out on ND's games next gen. Then again, I also can't imagine not playing Halo 5, and the 360 was such an integrated, seamless experience. Then I think about how much freaking money I spent on all the awful accessories for the 360. I believe I'm on my 6th controller since they all break...3rd headset....play n charge kit...rechargeable battery station...oh and one RROD causing me to buy a new Elite. Makes me angry. I also haven't touched my 360 in forever, and Halo 4 was a disappointment sort of. And have you played The Last of Us??? Its so incredible that it almost has me sold on the idea of getting a PS4 so I don't miss out on exclusives like this again. But then, I have my gaming PC, which is by far superior to both consoles. I will still be maxing games well into next year, so what is the point of getting a new console? Still, I do enjoy console gaming. PC gaming really is very hermit, and sometimes I feel so isolated. Thats why I'm so nostalgic for the 360, as XBL really made gaming a social affair. Based on track record, it feels like the Xbone is the way to go. But DAT Sony exclusive lineup....so good! Uncharted 4?! Must have... I have an Xbone preordered but am still really on the fence...I owned every console this gen, but with a family now I can't really afford to do that again...Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 for the most part, and a little bit of PC. Next gen consoles have to wait. They are not appealing to me thus far, but that might change if Naughty Dog releases their next instalment, and then I will buy a Playstation 4 immediately.
PS3. I'll be playing that for sure, unless my suspicions are correct. I have a feeling wife will surprise me with a launch PS4.

Hey fellow 360 refugee.
My plans at current is to stick with my current machines.
Why even buy next gen consoles, when there's still years worth of stuff (backlogs and older games I never tried) to play on the current ones? Sony is going to support the PS3 for the full 10 years, that means it'll still get games probably 3 years from now, and the 360 has a monster library with probably dozens of titles I want to play but haven't.
Rotate platforms.
Do 360 gaming for a year, play everything you missed, use your 12 month gold membership and hardware to its fullest. Then rotate to the PS3, get a PS+ membership for a year, play everything you missed, play freebie games and beat the schit out of your PS3 hardware. Then hit the PC for a year, starting with a Steam summer sale, and beat the schit out of it.
Then a couple years down the line, when the PS4 or XB1 get price drops, pick one up on Black Friday sale (possibly with a bundle.) Then start plundering that backlog.
Right now I'm in PS3 mode. Got my PS+ membership, and milking the system hard, playing freebie games, older backlog that I hadn't played like Killzone collection, UC collection, God of War collection etc. I use the system like 2-3 hours everty day including movie watching at bedtime. Planning to keep doing that till PS+ runs out.
The problem with System Wars is that it operates on a false premise, that we're supposed to stick to 1 system when any real gamer worth his salt has 4-5 systems in his house and a Vita in his briefcase.
A platform independent gamer is a happy gamer.
