So what's going to happen after Gamespot flops SSBB?

If it flops to get either AA or AAA, then I'll admit ownage but if it doesn't? then you'll have to admit ownage.

You know full well what will happen if this game flops. Suicides, PS3 and 360 fanboys claiming ownage, hundreds of "Gamespot is tobias!!111!!1!111!" You know, the usual choas that follows a major flop.

And as for the AA hype, yeah, it's a load of bull. Everyone hyping this game believes in their heart it's gonna be AAA. Some have even admitted it. Why people are still trying to play it safe is beyond me.

Well I too am hyping this game AAA. Guess what, I am a sheep even though I own a 360 I'm more of a sheep than a lemming.

Everyone will cry "oh my gosh teh bias gamespot 111!!!1".

Even though in my opinion NO Smash brother game has even been close to AAA worthy, and im sure this one will be no different.

in order to flop, it would have to get a 7.5 or lower.

Not going to happen.

I think main reason why they're afraid to hype it is because most likely GS will pull the "more of the same" card.....although that never applied to halo 3. >_>Shinobishyguy

Thing is, SSBB offers much of that too now. File Sharing maps and videos as well as screen shots with players. You can record, download maps, play co-op with friends on almost every mode known so far from Subspace Emissary, to Home-Run/Target Contests. It's not just more of the same if you ask me, and I played the game. What little there was and so on, it felt the same yes, but hearing these new things makes it much different. (Only 'new' thing I got was Smash Ball and Assist Trophies.)

the reason i'm not expecting SSBB to get AAA here is for two reasons.

1. GS is very unexpected lately, not to say they are biased against anything, but their scores really surprise me every now and then, i don't want that to happen with SSBB.

2. read the preview, it's not AAA positive.

1. Want that to happen to SSBB? What the heck? Seriously, I don't follow through on that saying. What would "happen" that is so bad, to SSBB if it didn't recieve the hype score AAA? Sales going to go down? Game going to be less fun? People are going to scream "Owned :lol:!!!" on the internet?

2. Previews aren't even reviews, and also let it be said... the demo they played was the last game for E for All's demo/Nintendo summit. I played the game, and it just basically had Assist Trophies (some new meaningless items) and Smash Balls. The stages were fun, but we were limited to two minutes, and the game was clearly unfinished. It was just SSBM with the Smash Ball as an addition, but the new content has YET to be explored by GS.

One other thing, the people who preview the game don't go in reviewing the game. The reviewer is going to play the game without having any contact earlier with the game except maybe from a press event like E for All if they attended. So truth be told, that last comment means nothing. Whoever reviews it, will have their first time with this game and quite frankly... previews don't ever reflect the final score if I'm not mistaken.

Well, considering the questionable credibility of GS as of lately, I probably wouldn't take it too seriously if every other site gave it AAA except GS. Besides, SSBM was AA here and its multiplayer easily trumps anything any other game had to offer last gen.

It's a trick question... it won't flop.

I enjoy people saying it's still just AA hype :lol:. The game that's people have been clamoring over for a long time, one of if not the biggest title the Wii has from Nintendo this year, the game that "OMG famitsu 40/40 = AAA garunteed", the Halo doesn't stand a chance with SSBB coming into play (a AAA series btw).

Please it's a complete joke of a concept to refer to the official hype threads. It's a mere convinience that saves any given group from "suffering" a flop. There's no negative effect to underhyping a game, so why not always play it safe. People merely said, "well SSB hasn't done all that well before here in terms of AAA, so instead of actually saying what the hype of the game is, I'll hype it what i think is safe based on what GS is likely to give it".

The game is AAA status get over it, I sure as hell know sheep won't seem to remember they only "hyped" it AA once it gets a AAA score. :|

Super Smash Brothers is the one game I don't care what the score is, but I'm still confident that I'll be a 9.5.

because obviously they wont play it for NEARLY long enough before writing the review. The SSBB game that the reviewers play in a week for the review will be a totally different one from the game played by gamers in the next 1-2 years. Im talking metagame + adv techs included.

Then they'll proably say its more of the same, and if the sp sucks (which it probably will) they'll hit it for that too because it is actually trying to have a good sp (and probably wont), then they might even say it doesnt use waggle.

After giving SMG goty and NMH AAA, gs can do no wrong right? what happens when SSBB flops? its going to MP3.

According to what? A broken concept in a series of threads. What he just stated is a very fundamental reason why those so called official "hype" (and I use that word loosely) threads are so broken. He actually just echoed my exact problem with those threads shortly after I posted why the AA hype is a joke.

Hype threads are useless because they're almost almost created at a time when a realistic prediction can't be made.

i fail to understand the question... who cares if its a flop?
this game could have the lowest score of all time, and it would still sell like crazy.
i know for a fact the local EB Games store has 1000+ preorders for this game and im sure none of them will care for a GS score.
PLUS. if you didnt realize. i dont think there real reviews, they just say games that everyone likes and are going to buy *cough* Halo *cough* are amazing and give good scores to. so i can see SSBB getting a high score...

Well in this case it was just done to early. There was still so much to learn about the game. I think the hype thread was made even before we knew there was online on SSBB.
