its people like u that make gaming bad  I hate when devs put all their time into online and none on single player *cough*COD4*cough* I dont have a link, but im almost sure that the majorty of gamers arent online gamers.
People will beat a campaign in a day and then the game will be forgotten. The online MP is were the game is, its where the game will strive for years to come.
IMO, id rather play competitively online with my peers rather than playing alone in a dark room playing the single player against bots
I like multiplayer but that's not always the case. If the singleplayer is really good, then it's replayable. I'm on my third playthrough and I'm still having loads of fun trying to improve myself. :|
Whats the point of playing a campaign more than once?
Good singleplayer games tend to have variety in their levels, different paths to take... so when you replay it, you have options. also higher difficulties tend to present challenges.
if the singleplayer is done right... after you're through with it you're going to want to play it again.
[QUOTE="leviathan91"][QUOTE="krp008"]Whats the point of playing a campaign more than once?

Because it's very fun and rewarding? :?
Rewarding? Id rather be doing something else productive with my life, thank you
Other reasons being it has a good story, wanting to play at a higher difficulty, nostalgia, beat a game 100%, speed-thrus, etc. Many reasons to play a campaign more than once.
I've played KH2 three times just so I can see the story again and again, play on every difficulty and unlock everything.

online lives on for YEARS. you do know there are still plenty of people playing halo: CE right? yet not many people are still paying single player no sir. a solid online is ecoming more and more essential each time.

Huh? :?
And you think multiplayer is "productive?"
Well considering the fact that I've been playing Halo 3 since september and im still playing it strongly daily, I'm gonna say halo.
I'm actually pretty much done with MGS. It has a very good single player yes, but once you're done with it, you're left with a mediocre online system. Konami has no clue how to do online at all.

[QUOTE="wizardwd"][QUOTE="Zassimick"][QUOTE="wizardwd"]Just a small question here but does MGS4 allow 4 man co-op for the missions?Uptown
I don't think it allows any sort of co-op to be honest. Co-op is a great feature and does add to replay value... but I don't see MGS having co-op.
That's exactly why I vote to say that Halo 3 is better then MGS4. MGS4 is a great game if you play alone, but Halo 3's co-op features, the great online multiplayer, Forge and the Theatre mode just push it on top for me.
thats silly, MGS isnt the type of game that would even make sense having 4-player co-op....its not a run and gun shooter.....nor does it have a generic looking main character that yo ucan duplicate with multiple colors......I dont think Kojima thinks 4 solid snakes running around makes any sense.....but Im just speaking for him :P
someone is acting like they've played co-op halo3 but its clear they haven't

MGS4- Amazing single player
Halo3- Good Single Player, Good Single Player CO-OP, Amazing Multiplayer
I'll take Halo!
simple mgs4 epic single player
trash multiplayer
halo 3 great single player
great co op
godly multiplayer
halo 3 is superior
Halo 3 beat MGS4 in metacritic.
Halo 3 beat MGS4 in sales.
there is no debate.

Halo 3 has more reviews out and, I can't believe I'm saying this to a lemming, but only GS reviews count. So 10 > 9.5.
Also, saying Halo 3 is better than MGS4 due to sales is a pathetic reason. I might as well just say 50 Cent > any other AAA game that sold poorly.

GS score is part of metacritic.
and sorry, but the market has declared Halo 3 more desirable then MGS4. Remember, fps's are mainstream, MGS4 is still sorta niche.
[QUOTE="rolo107"][QUOTE="Lazy_Boy88"]MGS4. Halo3 was too much of the same. Nothing really special.jg4xchamp
Someone hasn't played Halo 1-3. Definitely big changes in between. MGS4 however still wins on single player front, but Halo 3 destroys MGO in every way. (Yes I have both.)
um Lazy_Boy88 has said on many occasions how dissappointing Halo 2/3 are compared to the first Halo.Your avatar, i like.

Again, there are not enough reviews for MGS4 to be compared to Halo 3 and only GS scores count. Not Metacrtic, not IGN, ONLY Gamespot.
And again, the market doesn't determine if the game is better or not. It just means it's more popular and well-known to the masses.

confirmed: Halo 3 more popular then MGS4. That by no means its better, but that still says something about MGS4 and its limits.....limits of appealing to a wide audience.

MGS4 beat Halo3 on Gamespot.
Also, currently, Halo3 and MGS4 both have a 94 on Metacritic. Reviews are still coming in on MGS4, it keeps changing, whereas Halo3 has found it's spot and won't go up. Don't be surprised when MGS4's final score on Metacritic is higher.
As for sales, sure, Halo sold more. It had the biggest advertising campaign of any game I've ever seen. You couldn't turn on a tv, open a magazine or even order at a fast food restaurant without having Master Chief crammed down your throat. Now the cost for a 30 second spot on primetime tv can be a quarter to a half million. One page ads in magazines can costs thousands... The point of all this being that Halo sold more on day 1, but they paid a heckuva lot more on advertising to do that. As for me, I think breaking a million in one day with no mass advertising campaign is pretty impressive.
I enjoy playing online more than playing offline, so id say that Halo 3 is the better buy for me. I played 4 hours of MGS4 at my friends house last night and out of those 4 hours, we've only actually PLAYED about 30-40 minutes of in-game gameplay, the rest we found ourselves laying down trying not to fall asleep as a 10 minute long cutscene played on the screen, after that scene ended, we walked in a maze for 2 minutes than another 5 minute + cutscene occured. It was ridiculous and i was disappointed
Halo 3. Amazing MP, fun 4 player co-op.

sales obviously don't mean anything. alot of causuals like halo. But MGS series has less of a causual appeal. Real gamers can appreciate MGs4.
Most real gamers=MGS4
causals= Halo 3

I think even a baby could of figured out that you had to press start and select skip cutscene, to skip the cutscene. Ofcourse if you didn't like the cutscenes you just skip them. There's plenty of gameplay in MGS4. More than HALO3's crummy singleplayer can ever hope to have. I got around 6 measly hours out HALO3's repetative boring singleplayer.
And TC, it's laughable at best to even compare such generic FPS to a master piece such as MGS4. What a dumb thread.
