Yes. When I talk about Gears of War I just say "Gears". GOW = God of War because it came first, it's an amazing franchise, and is very much relevant.

To both of you, Rdiz and wzboson, you have obviously either never played them, never owned a PS2, payed attention during the PS2 generation, or any combination of the three. I personally believe God of War should because it came first and it was a breakthrough game and one of the best series of all time. Gears may be fun and have a great gameplay system, but its story is weak in how it throws you in with little to no backstory given.

God of war is a better series AND it came out first so it deserves it.. Ive thought this has been settled before.. God of war = GOW , Gears of war = GeOw

Gears of War is abbreviated "GeoW" - there is no fight, this is the proper abbreviation, it has been since day one. People using "GoW" when they mean Gears are just being silly - hell, they could just type "Gears" - it's not exactly a long title.

nope ps2 was my only system last gen, and I played through the first GoW It was a pretty standard adventure game, but I mashed L1 square L1 triangle alot (whichever one made kratos spin around then flip idk). Certain games like SotC were much better imo, but I am just a gears person I guess.

Well, there is your problem, mashing L1 + square. Not much variety there... How was it even fun to you, spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning...
