So which Platforms(s) do you plan purchasing for Gen 8?

This question has been asked many times, but I'm just gonna ask for the fun. Give your reasons as to why you choose that particular Console(s). 

For me:

• XBOX ONE (not at launch)

It was a hard choice because I was very adamant about the PS4 at the beginning. But after MS' 180 DRM policies, I realized that 360 and before that the original XBOX, it came down that I prefer the XBOX platform. From the ergonomic controllers, the support, the genres I'm more interested in, it seem the right choice for me. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy the PS3 but I've been heavily invested in MS platform and is still my go-to platform. I also don't play online as often, but since PSN+ is required for PS4 online play, it doesn't make any difference anymore. Both HD giants are practically the same, and I don't mind paying $10 more for that flexible online experience. Will I purchase a PS4? Eventually I will but not for awhile. The XBOX ONE will definitely be my first purchase, and main go-to platform, into Generation 8.

So how bout you, fellow Gamespotters?

I already have a Wii U and I also plan on getting a PS4 but not until a year later because then the games I want should be out.

A WiiU wen it has more meat to its library.. and that's about it, i'll have a proper upgrade to my PC soon enough.

I had a Wii U, but not anymore. I don't have any plans for either a PS4 or a X1 currently. their libraries need to grow a bit more before I drop a half a grand on either of them. My PC is just fine for now.

PS4- It is the only console that's interests me. MS should burn for what they tried to pull on consumers.

Why not? It'll be worth owning wen Monolith's X RPG, Bayonetta 2, DKC: Tropical Freeze and Sonic Lost World are released. That's a good chunk of meaty exclusives right there. 

That's basically wen i'll be buying one myself. At the moment, i don't feel the need for it.

Both consoles need more games before they are worth their price.

Didnt buy any consoles this generation, and i see even less of a reason to buy from the upcoming one.

I bought the Wii U when it dropped and basically all it did was sit in my living room for months with very little use. I'd rather get rid of it while it still has value and get something I'll use more often.

Wii U this year, PS4 next year, maybe Xbone in 2015.

Wii U (already own) and PS4 (getting next year).

Already own a gaming PC.  PS4, first.  Maybe Wii U if Smash and Zelda are good.  Xbox One, probably never.

Same, at least for the first two. Getting the Wind Waker Wii-U bundle, and will be getting a PS3 further down the line. Probably around the time FFXV and KH3 are out.

I got a WiiU for the missis and my daughter but I dont plan on buying any more this time around.

You need an option for "BOTH - XB1 & PS4".

That's what I'm getting. The Wii U can wait and wait at this point. I still think the price is too high at $300. The only games I'm interested in is Zelda and Mario Kart.

Maybe xbox if I want to play some multiplayer with friends and family. No PS4. I bought a ps3 because everyone praises the exclusives, but I hated all of them, except for GOW. Not making that mistake again. Once you go with pc, you can't go back. I'll probably just get a new gpu.

OP, you know it's not the same generation right? What happened last generation and what you liked about last generation consoles doesn't exactly carry over...

(unless all you care about is Halo and having a 360-shaped controller).

Xbox One has been all about appealing to casual gamers and taking a giant crap on 'core gamers. Enjoy paying $100 more for a console that's significantly less powerful and signficiantly more restricted by their terrible penny-pinching policies.

PC is not a game console. Hence there is not option for it.

Not going to rule any of them out. I have the PS4 preordered, but I might try flip it for profit. If I can't, I'll keep it. Maybe the Xbox & WiiU when they get games that appeal to me.

yeah, They really lost me at E3 when they announced most of the stuff i want to play is coming out in 2014.

Yeah, i had plans to buy the standard edition as soon as it hit the stores around me, but wen i saw that most titles i'm interested aren't as close to a release date as i had anticipated, i've quit the idea of getting it now.

I'm incredibly interested in Wonderful 101 & Pikmin 3, but i'd rather just hold on until i see all those exclusive games i mentioned on the previous page, on the WiiU ... Oh yeah, i forgot about Super Mario 3D World, i'll definitely pick that up aswell, despite the hate it has been getting, i'm expecting a great multiplayer game right there.

Its library of current/future games look incredibly fresh, interesting and unique, which for me, is extremely important wen buying a console. Because i already have a PC for multiplats.I'd reckon that a lot of people feel the same, besides Nintendo fans.

The Xbox One/PS4 literally has nothing i'd want, at the moment. Most of the launch lineup on both look like shit, as far as freshness goes.

It doesn't for me, because Hermit and Cow will get a Wii U over an XBox One in a heart beat as a second system. They are just waiting for the price to drop some more and better games to be released. I still think the price is too high on the Wii U for now, but once it drops some more I'll grab a Wii U as well.

Gotta build a new PC for Star Citizen & EverQuest Next. Whether these games suck or are the greatest ever, I'd be a fool not to try them.
