C-c-c-c-ccombo breaker!! As a kid I remember this being the best fighting game I've played, and even by today I set it close to that high of standards. And I honestly think we could use a remake or sequel for this gen. Thoughts?

Oh hell yeah man I am right there with you! I love Killer Instinct and my god....it needs to come back. With successful reboots of SF and MK....I believe we are primed for the final piece of the 90s fighting trifecta ;)

Hardly one of the best ever. The button inputs were ridiculous and the characters were generic caricatures. The skeleton is Spinal. The fire guy is Cinder. The ice guy is Glacius.... you see where I'm going with this? :P

But it was still really fun. I enjoyed both the SNES and N64 installments. There are much better fighters out there, but you could certainly do worse than Killer Instinct.

Well I see your point with the generic caricatures, however, I don't thins detracted from the game. Their was plenty of character variety, and the characters was extrmely balanced. The button inputs just took quick reflexes, but I believe it's far from ridiculous. I also believe this is one of very few fighters that actually took skill to pull of a combo, you could mash buttons but don't expect to get far, most fighters you can mash buttons and pull off insane stuff. Also it didn't have generic throws and a lot of defensive options, it was all about the offense for the most part.

I say that Guilty Gear X2 Reload and Third Strike are stronger fighting games than Killer Instinct. KI is fun though, but thre are better fighting games.

Speaking of caricatures.... dat TJ Combo dawg. Biggest black stereotype in a fighting game? Maybe. :P

I'm not saying it's not fun or anything. Ilike Killer Instinct. It's a solid series and really entertaining. But the combos were individually made, often requiring a lot of directional input with the button presses. In Gold there were moves that had dozens of inputs in them. The thing is it wants you to memorize these inputs. You can't just make freeform combos like in BlazBlue or something where the moves are smaller but you have to chain them together. In KI they just started getting out of hand and the inputs became for specific combos. It was a little too rigid. I think it's got room for improvement, but I doubt Rare will give us a sequel. I'd buy it for sure.

Nope, it's full of spammers. I think fighters should have more parring systems inplemented in them. That way it'll keep everyone on their toes.

Don't get me wrong I know where you're coming from, I was just stating my points and why I disagree, except witht he generic caricatures. :p And I know you liked the game. I guess to each his own. But I will always find KI one of my all time favorites and a classic. The nostalgia doesn't hurt. :P

it was fun for its time but its no where near being one of the best fighters, not at all. all it has is over the top gameplay with crazy combos but the mechanics itself is poor compared to fighters that are actually considered top notch.

Oh yeah, Killer instinct was and still is amazing. If Microsoft considered to produce a sequel (since they own Rare) and a sequel for Conker's bad fur day I'd probably purchase a 360, providing that the games were at the required standards.

Killer instinct is definitely the funnest fighting game I've ever played my entire life but the best is still 3rd strike.

No.......But I can agree that when people start a topic with "Can we all agree" in it the OP is 99% wrong.

I used to love the arcade version. It´s one of the best fighting games right after Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and a few SNK series.

Get me some TJ Combo, Glacious, and Fulgore combos. I'd love a reboot on that series.

I'm not a huge fan of fighters anymore but I used to be really good at Killer instinct when I was a kid. I didn't have too much expereince against other players but I could beat the game on the highest difficulty with Fulgore and Spinal

Best 2D fighter. Very good game, but Tekken 3 and Soulcalibur (dreamcast) are the best.

You'd think, but no. It's fun but that's really it I don't get sucked into it spending hours and hours mastering techniques and timing. It's fun but probably one of the most simple fightning games. 3rd strike isn't as fun but it is fun, challenging, balanced, requires more skill and practice, and it's a lot more competitive which I think makes it the best fighter of all time.

I can agree to that and would like to see them on XBLA.
