So who is getting bored with gaming?

Its a shame really. I just don't feel that level of excitement I used to when games I wanted came out. I remember how hyped I was for Medal of Honor Heroes 2 on my Wii (too poor to get a PS3, 360, decent PC :P) and how it actually met my hype. It was a good game for its time.

Now whenever I see a big brand game come out, I yawn and usually pass it. Even the ones I do buy, COD (I was bored), Battlefield 3 (curious), Skyrim (melee combat made me lol) don't really do anything for me... only good shooter I have played in the last year or so is Metro and Killzone 3.

It may be just getting older, and more cynical as I do, but then I go and play some old games or even some Good Old Games such as Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magic Obscura and I facepalm because games from that era are usually way better then todays games, except for graphics and online features (which are actually getting worse, lol.)

I look at my favourite games, and they almost always are before 2005. It makes me sad really.

TLDR; Games are getting too full of cliches, no new games really trying to break the mold, those that do usually fail because people are sheep.

im more overwhelmed with gaming. I got such a backlog.

I am, dunno if its down to age and growing out of it or that fact that i have just done far to much of it in the last few years :/

i have 40 ps3 games 10 wii games and still having some fun. Not many games i am that hyped for right now tho. Both twisted metal and silent hill bombed for me.

Just like with movies. We're getting all these Blu-Ray Collections, HD Collections, classics coming out in movie theaters again. This generation is running out of ideas. We need better ideas, more ideas, more people. I'm actually expecting lots of new things next gen.

I've been on a gaming resurge recently, buying mostly used and older games from past gen systems and seeing what I missed. It's exciting to finally have something that LOTS of people are into, unlike my previous obsession with European heavy metal, which no one anywhere would have any clue about.

If you find yourself getting bored with gaming, it could be because you're perhaps just doing it too much. Getting older is a factor too - not having games purchased for you as gifts from parents and such for your bday or Christmas anymore leads you to be able to buy them yourself more easily. Obviously this isn't as exciting. I tend to buy more party type games so that more people can enjoy it besides just myself. Bring some more people in on the action and you may find to start liking it again.

Take up some new hobbies and give gaming less time. You find that you appreciate it more later on.

not me. hell, i'm still catching up on games i missed out on earlier this gen (i.e. borderlands, valkyria chronicles, MGS 4 and dirt 3). unless you spend every second of your life gaming there's always going to be new games to play.

play videogames that are in another genre that you normally don't play, or just try out a new hobby

I am very bored with gaming right now. Even good old school RPG's don't spark the fun factor gaming used to bring me. O well, I'm just taking a long break and hanging out with friends and getting sh*tfaced every so often.

Not at all and 2012 will be the best year in gaming ever. So many great games coming out it's impossible to play them all.

Same for me there just hasn't been many games coming out and of those very few have been all that good

I'm getting bored of gaming. I used to finish just about any game in a few sittings but now it takes me almost a month, if not more, to reach completion. I just can't be bothered with it as much anymore.

Yes, I'm really bored with gaming. Everything is just casualized crap.

I get bored from time to time and stop playing for a while. That usually helps.

I don't know about you guys, but I play games when I'm bored and there's nothing else to do.

I can only see people who play games as their primary hobby getting "bored" with gaming. And the cure for that is simple. Go outside.

I was, and almost quit a few years ago, but now I just play current gen games every now and then. Unless there's a must have that comes out earlier in the year, I usually buy around 4 games in the fall, and play them here and there throughout the following year. Most of the time, however, I stick to playing the cIassics since I can never get bored of them, and they don't require me to invest anything more than an hour to beat.
