So, Why Don't Sales Matter?

This has been bugging me for a while now. Everytime somebody get one ups on someone else, people think of an excuse for it to be invalid. EG:

"Wii has already outsold the 360 Wii>>>You"

Answer "Teh salzez don't matter anyway" WTF??

"PS3/360 have better Graphixx We>>Wii"

Answer "My PC 0wnZorZ your little PS3/360 so HA!"

"We have great games like MP3, SSBB, SMG, RE:UC, Zack and Wiki etc..."

"Teh KidDiNeSZ!"

It really gets on my nerves and you all know you do it sometimes. I'm sure I've done it a fair few times as well, but I think that sales do matter otherwise people wouldn't bring them up in the first place.

Sorry I hate 50 cent... ANway since when does "Sales matter" == "I like games that sell well" That wasn't the point. I'm talking about console sales mainly because thatere are many other factors that affect software sales. i.e. for the example you gave, 50cent sold well because it had "50cent" on the front...

Becuase success isn't just based on who sells the most consoles. Other factors should be consider. Games available, software sales, quality of games, etc. Consider this HYPERTHETICAL example. In 5 years time the PS3 has sold 60m units and the 360 50m units. The 360 sells more software as 360 owners buy more games than PS3 owners and the 360 has received more AA, AAA and AAAA scores for its exclusives and also has far more exclusives than the PS3. So who would you say has been more succesful? (Feel free to swap my example with the Wii or PS3 before fanboys go mad) Also consider that Sony are now making the kind of loses on every PS3 that MS were on the Xbox. If that continues and the have huge finacial loses but sell more consoles than Wii and 360 is that success? Same can be said for the 360 though its lose these days are less.

The cars example sucks because you don't have third-party devs to worry about when buying a car. I'm saying that sales matter because if a console doesn't sell then devs will want to stay away See GCN and PS3 attached.

Ok, you find graphics and animations to be the most important. That is ok, but don't tell other people their console sucks, that's fairly mean.

Not the end. 360 has been out for alot longer, and is easier to develop for because of it's similarity to the xbox1. Therefore there should be higher quality games more often on 360 for the time being. But that doesn't mean sales mean nothing.

I own a wii60 combo, but to be honest the only Wii game I'll be buying this year will be SSBB maybe SMG, other than that all the other "good" titles are games like zack a wiki. PS3 has a far superior game line-up imo and it is being outsold by the wii by about 2:1.

To me ps3 has only: Haze, R:FoM, and a couple others this year. However the Wii has: SMG, SSBB, MP3, RE:UC, Z&W, NiGHTS, TP, WW:SM and some others this year. 07 lineup for wii is better, get over it :P

I for instance love math, and therefore calculate lots of stuff and post them, which I once got suspended for "trolling" for, even though I wasn't trolling, I was just showing maths.

Some X360 people also understand that sales are important, and not only to stockholders.

If you think I'm a big fat idiot, why do I care? I show the info I find intresting, and find it intresting to see responses and so on.

Why the hell would I care if 120 million people bought a X360? I prefer Wii, and that's me. Be yourself, not a pie.

If you work for a living and have a budget you appreciate the value of money more, you start to see that its not always the most popular things in life that are the best or even worthy of their hype. You become a little shrewder and see things for what they really are, if you have any common sense that is but I doubt you'd know anything about that.

A casual person means random person. Therefore a casual is one that buys a system NOT determinating by which brand it is.

Gamewise, the ps3 shouldnt be selling at all and the brand thing was aimed at nintendo. Should have made that clear.

360 = people who bought it before ps3 came out, and whoever wants games.

Sales don't matter because even if it didnt sell, people would still develop for it. The ps3 is selling like crap, but it hasnt suddenly stopped having games made for it. After all, would you buy a console because it sells well, but you hate it? Or a console that you enjoy playing but not many people have.

I thought you were talking about salaries. Eg: people who do amazing jobs that save livee (firefighters, doctors, nurses) get paid C to the R to the A to the P money; and people who sit on their fat @sses all day get paid shed loads just for doing exactly that. :P

Damn straight. That's why I sold my Wii too. All these sheep think that their console is so great but the games suck (for the most part, IMO), and so does motion control. It is glitchy and it wasn't even 1:1. Like on Resident Evil 4, I can shake my hand real hard on the Wii version or i could just tap a button on the PS2 version (for the interactive cutscenes). It wasn't an step forward, it was more like a step sideways.
