[QUOTE="percech"]Evidently, I think it's a lot dumber of PS3 owners to spend money on Plus. At least 360 have a good reason. Jeez.Episode_Eve
Actually, there's a ton of value to be acquired with PS+. If I were to subscribe when it launched, I would have made back my investment and much more, and it hasn't been a year since it started.
There are plenty of "free" games and discounts I would've taken advantage of, played full game trials, entered in exclusive betas, downloaded nice themes (least important), and utilize cloud storage for game saves. It's not for everyone, but I think it's a very smart service. It's a good model to provide free online gaming, then stack other incentives in a premium service.
Ok, I see what your saying, but some of the argument transfers over in way. Xbox live chrages for things which could be free. Yet some of the features of PSN+ also shouldn't be boasted about in that vein.
Trials (full or otherwise) - well they want you to buy their game, so let people demo it properly. Betas - well they want you to help them test their game. To me it seems like they are making out as if they are doing you a favour, when you are really doing them a favour, by doing those things that help them.
Especially with demos, I mean to me they are the same as someone putting a demo tape on your desk. They should consider themselves lucky you take a look. Sure though the whole thing is about full game trials, but at the end of the day, its the dev that wants me to look into their product.
Plus don't a lot of the free game go back to them when your done with the service? And cloud storage is something Steam do anyway, I don't know why this is a payed for feature. It could have been a really attractive main feature of PSN as a whole.
I can see they took a combination of these things and made it into an attractive package, but when broken down, I can't help look at it in this way.
