i'm six months in to owning a ps3, and have had a 360 since Oblivion came out. While the ps3 is clearly the better built machine, and probably has a much longer life span to look forward to both in terms of hardware life and technological ceiling, the library is a JOKE. i already have almost everything worth owning for the system at 8 games. 8 games. compared to maybe 80 games on the 360, most of which are stellar titles. now, i love Blu ray and there's no getting past the fact that i use my ps3 more for movies and netflix than for gaming. but multiplatform titles are still better in almost every instance on teh 360 due to the easy development, and the exclusives there have been every bit as strong as the ps3's. and yes, the hidden fees for premium online services on the ps3 pretty much negate any argument that psn is "free".

AND ONE THING THE 360 KILLS THE PS3 ON: CUSTOM SOUNDTRACKS. on anything. the first time i tried to play music in the bg of Infamous and the ps3 told me i couldn't, i wanted to cry. when i play games on the 360, i constantly stream music and the 360 mixes the stereo into the 5.1 surround ambience perfectly. PS3 FAIL. most games license the worst mainstream music or have useless pretentious western bg music. the west never learned to make interesting video game music.

each controller has it's ups and downs; somewhere in between teh ps3 and 360 controllers is the perfect controller. take the dpad and analog face buttons of the ps3, and use the ergonomics, sticks and triggers of the 360. that would be so perfect.

i'm too in love with gaming to choose either side a winner, and you can too!

You take away Uncharted, MGS4, God of War, Valkyria Chronicles, Warhawk, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone, and Resistance and you're left with LBP and Demon's Souls. :|

You look at the fact that they will charge for premium features for the PSN even though they've touted that it was free since forever and you begin to wonder, what else will they change completely contradictory to what they've been saying? Of course I can still play games for free online if I want to, but whatever. STILL SUCKS GUYS!

My point is your 360 has cost you more than a PS3. I'm going to assume you have an elite or pro, single player games are obviously not the problem,the problem is the best 360 games all have MP, save mass effect 1+2. I had gears, halo 3, ODST, gears 2, R6 vegas, GRAW 2 and PDZ and I couldn't play any of them on live simply because I refused to pay that stupid fee. How is limiting me to 1/2 my game and having me to pay a fee to use it in any shape or form sounding optional? It's one of the reasons my 360 is currently used as a footrest under my desk (that and rrod)

its all personal preference. some might prefer the 360 for its selection, while others like the PS3 offerings.

i think a lot of it is just the ebb and flow of the industry. lately, the PS3 has been seeing quite a bit of killer apps. there will most likely be a time when the 360 is getting a bunch of titles that the PS3 isn't.

Its not. From a neutral point of view, the PS3 has better exclusives. And multiplats arent even worth comparing anymore.

All of these top PS3 exclusive games are REAL exclusive material. All of these top 360 exclusives like Halo, Gears and even ME2, have multiplat quality and could have been multiplat games if MS didnt pay for exclusivity.

And of course, when it comes down to hardware and reliability, its obvious who wins. From a neutral POV, the only thing keeping the 360 alive is XBL and fanboys. There arent any other reasons for a new gamer to choose a 360 over a PS3 with what they both have to offer now.

1. Games aren't subjective. The 360 outperforms the PS3 as far as that is concerned.

2. When you look at it like the typical consumer, yes. The fact of the matter is you don't get get everything out of the box to get the most out of the experience. A new PS3 owner can go home and find out they can play online with people. Not the case with the 360. You'll also need a HDD to get the most out of the system. Optional? Technically. But only insofar as Microsoft likes to pretend they're optional.

Car companies do this all the time. They show the top options package in a commercial and then say, "Prices starting at X" when the reality is you need to pay more to get what they're showing you in the commercial because it's not the base model.

Nice for him, but I didn't buy any of those silly accesories. So my 360 was indeed cheaper than a PS3.

"Silly accessories"? XBL Gold and wifi adapters are not silly accessories. Neither is a play and charge kit. Those were absolutely necessary to me when I bought my 360.

It's funny how lems here always claim they didn't buy a single accessory for XBox yet they all have Live, many of them have a wifi adapter, charge kit, etc. Pretending they all spent the absolute bare minimum and that satisfied them. :lol: How anyone can pay for AA batteries in this day and age is beyond me. I bought the wireless batt pack and charge kit immediately for both controllers.Another amazing coincidence is how many of them already happened to have rechargable batteries that are separate from the cost of their XBox +.

The fact is that the PS3 is cheaper than the 360 if you want the exact same feature set (minus Bluray), this is true on paper and true in my personal experience. I don't regret paying for the 360 and accessories one bit, neither did I regret paying for the PS3 at launch. I knew what I was getting into. I am of the opinion that this "I didn't spend any money on accessories" is a form of DC. Suddenly nobody plays online. :roll:

TC you didn't mention Fable, Forza, Crackdown, PGR, DoA, etc. Anyways I like PS3 and 360 close to the same. The only reason I like 360 a little better is XBL.

Well, none of the consoles are "better", it just goes by personal opinion. For example, I find the PS3 more appealing in both hardware (Bluray, free online) and library, while others might feel the complete opposite. Anyone would be wrong in saying one is better than the other :? The 360 isn't the better console, but neither is the PS3.

The only way you could say the xbox360 is a better console is in sales but as far as games go both systems have great games and it comes down to your preference or what your friends play

1 year head start helps the xbox360 but it does lack exclusive first party games and those are the games that do a better job getting the most out of the system

ps3 has tons of exclusive games and most multiplats have minor difference only 2 games i can think of had big diff between systems fallout 3 and bayonetta

i have both xbox360 and ps3 but stop playing the 360 after i got rid of xbox live

which system you buy should come down to which exclusives you like better because both systems have great exclusives because multiplat games little difference between systems so you could easily get multiplats for what ever system you decide on

Wrong. There are plenty of other games on the 360 worth mentioning. You're just not looking hard enough.

And I don't understand why PS3 fanboys here are so quick to dismiss Halo and Gears. They're great games, why ignore them?

If most ppl have a pc that can run these games than why do they bother buying them on the 360 at all? ME2 sold way more on the 360...Just like Splintercell will.

9. First to get download content and demos.

10. Runs out of box with any Windows PC with minimal configuration.

Actually owning a Xbox 360 and PS3 unlike most people on these forums I can say for certain that the PS3 is the weakest console on the market. I used to think it was an excellent Blu-ray player but after upgrading my receiver and realizing that the hardware cannot transfer HD audio codecs through bitstream and LFE is something that the PS3 cannot perform very well has changed my opinion on that.

And Sony has also made the value of any older PS3s practically worthless since they have dropped their prices so frequently (to keep up with Xbox 360) that I feel like I am trying to get rid of a Dreamcast or Gamecube. So go ahead and keep telling yourself "teh graphics, cellz, and exclusives" to make you feel better about owning the least popular console that is a considered a joke amongst the majority of gamers.
