So you have a choice to peace out of this world and go live in a video game world--where would you choose?

Pretty self-explanatory. You find a bottle in the sand, give it a rub, and a pixelated genie pops out and gives you the opportunity to go live in a video game world of your choice. So what's your choice? Assuming you take the opportunity.

I'd probably choose this place, as long as I could be part of the Phantom Thieves.

I mean, given the choice, just stay in this world for sure lol. Have a good life, can't complain.

But if I must live in a game world, guess I'd better get used to some XTREME Beach Volleyball.

Honestly tried to give it some thought, think being in any game world would be nightmarish after a while.

Animal crossing. Nice simple life hoarding stuff while paying off a mortgage at a pace i like (or not at all if i'm happy with the size of my house). It's a game world I could certainly survive in.

If i had the ability to actually also hold my own in a game world, and reload if i do die, The world of Xenoblade 1 would certainly be up there. Enough hiking trips and sight seeing to last a lifetime.

Skyrim would also be nice.

Yeah, no doubt.

I'm probably thinking too literally on the game world part. As in, only what the game world actually offers and living by those rules. Would transition from wow awesome to shallow repetitive nightmare hellscape pretty quickly lol.

But if the game world had a realistic depth to it, actual life? 🤔

Still moving to volleyball land with my bro Arch.

I personally would not mind visiting Final Fantasy particularly FFXII. Ivalice setting arguably the most fleshed out offline FF game world. Love the design of the races, the many cultures, incredible lanscapes and architectures in the game and land so vast there are continents (and hidden floating ones) not yet introduced. The tradeoff is since this is FF I likely die due to some madman decided to end the world cause of some destiny bullshit and overpowered weapons of mass destruction lying around some ruins (and there are a lot of ruins) waiting to be activated.

@sakaixx:

Yeah was also thinking of a lot of cool RPG worlds, particularly some of the FFs. But there's always some looming real existential threat lol.

12's Ivalice is a cool world though. Spira in FFX also seems neat, though even without the main threat, still a bunch of hyper religious nutjobs.

Good source of protein and fat from the eggs. Herbs gonna have some carb content, though more would be ideal. Likely loaded on micronutrients tho.

Video games have a big fixation on killing, so probably try to avoid the majority.

Something really boring and mundane like Farming Simulator. Where you're unlikely to be part of the high death count.

Get to live among a better version of humanity with cool af tech, explore relatively safe stretches of space. Yes plz.

Can still enjoy all the volleyball land I want on a holodeck too.

I really like the settings in games like Mass Effect and Mirrors Edge, but I wouldn’t want to live there. Games worlds are always littered with some bullshit about being oppressed or annihilated or some shit. Even folks saying those DOA volleyball games… Sand is really damn annoying. I rather just chill in my current setting. Especially with the shit I’m cooking up this summer

Either a relatively safe place, or somewhere with magic.

Katamari land would probably make you insane, but at least it has good music. Floating around pollinating flowers in Flower would be relaxing.

Diablo 2 would be scary, but learning magic would be awesome. Kotor could also be cool for space travel and weird stuff.

Azeroth, or more broadly the World of Warcraft universe (since there is a lot more to it than just Azeroth).

It seems like a really great, amazing world to inhabit and explore. It can get dark at points, but it's never so brutally depressing and therefore maintains a sense of whimsy. There's enough civilization to the world that I feel you could safely traverse it as a civilian.

Many game worlds tend to be grim or brutal or overly dangerous, I'm thinking if you took me as I am now with no special powers, Azeroth would probably be the safest place for me to transition to.

Of course, it'd be even better if I turned into an actual character and could fight and stuff...

Also for similar reasons: Star Wars, Star Trek, and Mass Effect universes.

This has been asked so many times and it’s always hard to answer. Do I pick game worlds I love to explore or think are beautiful? Or do choose a universe with tons of lore and excitement?

The reality is that I love a privileged and easy existence currently. I’d probably not even be a supporting character in some video game world. So, that sounds horrible all around.

If I truly had to choose I’d probably say Mass Effect.

It really is about as close to utopian as we could get, isn't it?

I haven't read it yet, but the book "Trekonomics" sounds like it delves into my ideal world where automation has evolved to the point humans can pursue science, achievements, and art.People can pursue what they like, can act in service of humankind (and alienkind!) instead of in the pursuit of simply amassing more wealth for themselves and their descendants.

It's a "post-scarcity" world. No one is hungry, everyone gets access to the best healthcare. So much sci-fi paints a negative view of the future but Star Trek is nice because it paints such a lovely picture of the future.

@mrbojangles25:

Yeah always liked thinking about that idea of a future, how/if it could work, etc. Love the picture that that era of Trek paints. Nothings perfect, but in general life is pretty great for most. Not just the advances in tech and medicine either, but how for the most part, people got over their petty social differences.

The idea that people would still work to better themselves, humanity, or even for a status "currency", I can see that. And in the context of the shows, a lot of it does make sense.

Being honest though, thought it was funny seeing stuff like people waiting tables at restaurants in Trek lol. I know it's a dumb nitpick, just find it hard to believe there would be a ready supply of people willing to wait tables for the love of it.
