I'm sort of torn on this one. As a long time fan, I wanted a return to the Socom 2 roots. This looks totally different: 1) Multi-mode maps will still be in the game. Socom 2 shipped with 21 single mode maps. Each map was intricately designed around a certain mode, so the atmosphere was unbelievable. Breach, Escort, and Extraction were incredible experiences. Socom 3 shipped with 12 multi-mode maps. Breach, Escort, and Extraction were never the same because they just don't work on generic multi-mode maps. 2) So now they have new modes which is interesting. It says to me Zipper knows they killed several of the original modes. The new modes are Last Defense, Uplink, and one unannounced. Add these to Suppression and you have four modes total. This is one less than the Socom 1/2 days, and two less than Socom 3 even including the ruined modes. 3) With only 9 maps and 4 modes, how long will this game keep your attention? Socom Confrontation had 7 maps and 5 modes, but got old REAL fast. Socom 2 with 5 modes and 21 maps took me months before I even felt comfortable on them. 4) Now there is a non-Classic respawn mode which to me is MAG light. That is not all together a bad thing, as I like MAG a lot. In fact, the Last Defense mode reminds me of Escalation mode in MAG. In prior Socom games, respawn was a non-ranked way to just relax and have fun on your favorite map. Socom 4 is taking it much more seriously which is a good thing. I might not like the way they did Classic mode, but the Respawn mode might balance things out.
going to get the game but im totally disappointed i havnt seen any stealth 'seal' like missions as i did in the 1st 2 games. If there is any can someone show some footage which doesnt look like some generic 3rd person shooter
No lobby system :lol: I knew I was right to be skeptical of Zipper. After reading some of the latest information it's a definite no buy for me.BZSIN
Everyone is going to this to hold down cheaters and glitchers. If it keeps the glitchers down, then I'm good. Zipper would never moderate and remove GNK rooms (Glitch No Kill), so glitches would spread around the community quickly. The next best thing is to get rid of lobbies.
i would be a pretty happy camper to see socom return to greatness.

LOL yeah, I'm not sure that will change too much. Back in the days of Socom 2, there were no scopes on anything but sniper rifles and those had breathing motions in them. Now, there is a scope on anything which has slowed the game down. Also, the community hated campers in 2 which isnt the case anymore. Campers would get voted in 2, but I havent seen that in ages. Of course, part of that is the fact you cant see if someone is voting you. If they put that back in, then campers could get spurred into action with a few votes.
My big complaint is they are trying to make both the SOCOM vet and the new commer happy. I think they may fail at both which makes me sad loving the SOCOM formula and them making a game going for stardad now generic shooter and SOCOM together
I own MAG and it's pretty crappy. Well, very crappy... And I heard the downliadable Socom was pretty bad as well What I want is a Ghost Recon from the good ole days. The ones before Island Thunder

It's not just the lobbies, there seems to be a lot of things that don't sit too well. No handguns (two primaries instead), ranked respawn, aim assist, no picking up guns from dead bodies (these are just things I've heard from other people, so I'm not sure if these are 100%). I know Zipper wants to appeal to more people but I just can't see who's going to buy it. The CoD crowd won't leave CoD for it, and the hardcore fans aren't going to jump on it with all these changes.

cl@ssic is just cl@ssic in name. its still nothing like the old socom games. everything from the true socom games is gone. the only thing that still exist is its TPS genre.
