1up reviews are trash
I refer you to my earlier post. Pretty pathetic on their part."No getting around it: This review will soon be inaccurate."
And that pretty much sums up that review.

I don't care, already bought the game and it's fun....they could have just waited for the patch to come out before they posted their review but whatever.

you act like its acceptable to reneg on reviews based on fixing released problems. Will reviews change their scores on Mercenaries 2 when it gets a patch? What about if Ninja Gaiden 2 fixed its camera and then got bumped to a 9? What if Too Human gets a patch and bumps it to an 8? Give me a break, its unacceptable to release a review saying it doesn't count. :roll:By waiting to review it and promising updated reviews they're doing this game quite the favor. Not often you see lifelines get thrown to games like Socom is getting.strudel420
I think it's mostly because you can see the SOCOMy quality of the game when it actually connects properly , they just didn't plan their server capacity properly for such a fan favorite. I predict a high 8 overall, SOCOM has always been a love it or hate it series IMO, and I'm sure some reviews will reflect that.

I agree fully. When the game actually gets started you can see there is something excellent there.
Just pointing out they could have easily said "Oh the game's broken huh? Too bad you should have thought of that before releasing it." and judged based on what people were paying for it at release. Some sites are trying to show professionalism or maybe understanding is a better word, but hopefully it doesn't start a trend.

I think professionalism is the right word, it doesn't seem very reasonable to judge the game's quality because the developer didn't accurately predict the demand for their game and set up the servers accordingly. If there's a trend to be avoided, hopefully it will be underestimating server demands.
Why should they update their review? No reviews update their reviews when a full retail game is shipped and gets updates/patches, why should this be any different? All Socom had to do was have a functional online system, and it can't even do that. Pretty sad that they are going to reneg on the review cause it wasn't up to their standards. What a joke :roll:hopesfall2own
nah, its ok,
what is sad is when a game site/mag changes thier score after 12 years(a loz:oot review was changed from 10 to 9 around when gta4 was launched)

You're right. Hopefully this is a one time thing that everyone can take note of and won't be excused in the future.
Flop confirmed, AA hype I'm guessing 6.0 from GS but knowing GS's hate of bugs mroe like a 3.0Toriko42
anyone who hasn't played the game can't even speak
Is there even any hype for this game?Zerocrossings
I think it was hyped maybe AA. But now it's being hyped at best A. IMO.

But then again this is an online-only game and it appears the only major flaws are with the servers, which games like GTA and Warhawk had problems with when they came out. I am pretty sure most MMORPGs had server bugs and problems on their release but weren't penalized because it was something that isn't the games fault but rather the networks.
Even though I am considered a Lemming, I feel that isn't fair to review a game with server issues. Let them fix it and then review the game. The old Socoms rocked, and I am pretty sure this one will too (once the lag and server issues are fixed that it).Dr_Snood

In game bugs like the scope issue and shooting through walls are a much different thing than server problems. They really have no idea what their server demand is going to be and since no one is paying for the servers I'm sure they erred (is that how you spell that?) on the side of caution. I don't want a review that takes into account something that was only an issue for the first 5 days the game was released, how is that useful to anyone (other than lemmings who need ammo)?
got the game last saturday and cant keep away from it... its my first SOCOM console game (since i only played PSP games previously) but though its got some server issues and its not graphically amazing its a great game...
I personally would give it a solid 8/10, maybe 8.5/10 considering its an mp only game and atm there are some server issues... hopefully mags/sites will wait a couple of weeks before posting their final reviews...
Just wondering , which view do you use when playing ?got the game last saturday and cant keep away from it... its my first SOCOM console game (since i only played PSP games previously) but though its got some server issues and its not graphically amazing its a great game...
