Software make a system, not harware

Apple doesn't sell because of hardware.

It sells because of superior OS and iTunes.

Hardware doesn't matter.

Look at PC

Best hardware, nobody cares because it don't have blockbusters.

Look at Wii

Weakest system, outsold everything because of Mario.

Software matters

Hardware not so much

We'll soon find out. Or not. The PS3's architecture is very odd, but then again the PS2 wasn't exactly conventional either. I hope the Cell isn't just a short term solution as that will mean Sony has a winner on their hands.

That would indicate yes that Cell still has staying power. And now that most Sony devs are accustomed to it's hardware, it'll mean better games faster.

Times have changed since the "software,hardware" debate. Nowdays its just a big mixed bag of crap that wins.

It had a weaker CPU than Saturn and weaker GPU than Jaguar.

But good hardware attracts the hardcore.

Good hardware helps, but, at the end of the day, it all comes down to how enjoyable the games are.

Yes, indeed. I don't care about components, I care about games.

I prefer to look at it like this:

Hardware = the potential for good games, but can not in any way define a system, nor make it popular.

Software = The actual system maker.

There is no garantee that Better Hardware yields better games, it opens the potential for better games, but it is always a wildcard.

50 = 50..... sure softwer increase the sell but a software can only go so far without the hardware capabilities...

The hardware is necessary but not sufficient. The software on the other hand is necessary AND should be sufficient.
