I know, I know. It's been done to death, and we all know that xbl is way better...but I have some personal reasons why I prefer PSN over XBL.
It's free. Yeaup, obvious reason number one. M$ charges users $50 to play. Now we could easily break this down into how much it is a day, or how many cents it is every second, but it's truly irrelevant...because if you do pay in monthly or 3 month breaks you will end up paying more than $50 a year. MS demands that you pay $50 up front, and that's about the price of a game nowadays. As a gamer, I would personally prefer a new game over p2p connection. Which bring me to my 2nd point...
While MS charges you to pay $50 a year to use your own internet connection, many of Sony's MP games(I know Warhawk and Resistance and I'm sure others) offer free dedicated servers to it's users. Now, I know many people(on here, that is) won't be too effected by this, but with dedicated servers many players with lower connections can have the same experience as those with higher connections.
Another great feature of PSN is the ability to share throughout the community. How, you ask? Well Sony let's everyone of their customers create their own theme and share them as long as you have a HD(which comes with every PS3, bar-none) and the internet. You can create your theme with different tools(find them on google), and once you are done you can upload theme to such sites as PSU.com. To make this process even easier, once you find a theme created by another user you can go to your browser on your PS3(100% free to all users, as long as an internet connection is found) and download it directly to your PS3 HD. Now for those who simply can't stand using the controller to navigate the browser, you can simply hook a USB KB/M in any of the 4 slots on the PS3. Bu Bu but MS offers themes...well yes they do and some cool ones I might add. Unfortunately most themes cost cold hard cash, and I believe it's $1 for most themes and their is no sharing or creating of these themes.
Almost everything is customizable on the ps3 and you don't feel too constricted like you do on XBL, where everything is where Microsoft wants it to be. Plus the PSN store is a lot more organized and has a much more 'store' feel than what MS offers, not to mention it's easier to get from one place to another.
Also all demos on PSN are available to all users when they come out, no having to pay for anyone.(I do realize some betas will use Qore, but this applies to most demos.
Also, as mentioned before, the web browser is available to all users...which you can use through the PS3's WiFi(built in with the console).
You can also share games and Map pack with friends. Remember those recently released CoD4 maps? Well if you have a buddy who wants you to play with him on some of the newer maps...well he can just give them to you. You can share PSN games like Super Stardust and old Playstation games like Crash. Almost anything, besides Warhawk, can be shared up to 5 times.
Cool stuff? I think so. Remember PSN is 100% free and offers in game chat, free demos, and now featuring an in game xmb...which actually doesn't slow down like XBL's blade system.
