lol not a surprise. somehow sonic is still living off of this glory from the genesis era, this was 20 years ago for christ's sake. the fact is, the franchise has always been mediocre. it's just you have this very vocal group of nerds who keep hoping for the best, based purely off of nostalgic memories when they kids and were stuck with only a sega genesis. i feel sad for them.

but hey, at least the past 2 kart games were fun........right?

I always thought Sonic Exclusives on Nintendo systems was supposed to be good titles. Oh wait Black Knight wasn't hardly surprising and to be honest the game looks a bit confusing in parts. Give me Galaxy anyday of the week.

have you gone back and played the original sonic games? they play like feces. i think most gamers would agree.

don't get me wrong, i loved sonic back when i was a kid, but playing the games today leaves a bad taste in my mouth. they're mediocre, especially when compared to other games released during that time.

That would mean they've aged poorly, not that they're mediocre. They're harder to play today than they were back then, but I can still enjoy the Genesis games.

That really sucks. On the bright side, one less game I have to get and more money towards Xbone and PS4.

It was listed in many if not all upcoming WiiU games line ups so it kinda flop in a sense, even without a hype thread.

It's hard to swallow personally..... I was really hyped for the game and previews were really positive. :( I'll still give it a try but it's not in my priorities when getting a WiiU anymore.

The Galaxy copying was apparent from the reveal. It's awkward how much it's ripped off. Sonic is just a bad franchise now. The only thing that sucks is that this bomb is a Wii U exclusive.

Compared to all the other games out there it is mediocre, average, falling in the quagmire of all the other mediocre, average games.

I play the Sonic games on the Genesis collection all the time, The Modern games are sh!t compared to classic Sonic. Even today. The side scrolling levels in Generations are trash compared to playing the Old games.

As it is, I am curious to how the 3DS game turned out.

no...it means they are mediocre. especially when you look at game like SMB3, super mario world, super metroid, streets of rage and LOZ whose gameplay still stand up to this day. sure the original sonic game has aged poorly, but they were also never great to begin with.

Nah, i don't agree. Sonic 1 may not have the spin dash, but it still has great level design. Sonic 2 & Sonic 3 + Knuckles are practically perfect, some of the best 2D platformers of all time. There's nothing clunky about them.

Nostalgia used in an argument has always, and will always be bullshit. Never resort to such a thing, it's one of the laziest ways to attempt at proving a point of view.

Not surprised. There hasn't been a good Sonic game in ages. Even Generations, which was liked by so many, I really didn't like.

The only recent ones I liked where those on DS.

That's unfortunate. I thought this was looking very good. Well, I think given how mixed the reviews have been, you'll have to play it yourself to see if its your thing. Sad to see the streak of great scores end though. I loved Generations. One of my favourite PS3 games.

nostalgia is absolutely not a bullshit argument, it is seen throughout the interwebz EVERY SINGLE DAY. when someone grows up with something, they form a certain, memorable attachment to it, this is fact. there is nothing lazy at pointing out gamers who look at average franchises with rose tinted glasses on.

There is a reason the 16 bit Sonic games are so revered. It's not nostalgia, it's because there were and still are brilliant. That's why loads of people still play them today, including myself.

My Original Argument was that Generations was a mediocre game. You or some other dipsh!t brought up scores, and I brought up that it in fact received mediocre scores as well. Then you tried to change the argument about what the scores mean.

It's a mediocre, average game and the only thing that makes it stand out is that it's a Sonic game. A Sonic game that is Mediocre is considered a great achievement, that's how sh!t Sonic has become.

If not for the Racing series by SUMO, Sonic has been mediocre for the last 15 years.

rocket knight is a much better controlled, much better pure platformer. have you actually played the one that came out on xbla and psn this gen? it's righteous.

why not mention the other platformers i listed? got anything for them? didn't think so.

anyways, i'll give you that sonic 2 and 3 improved upon that clunky-ass original but they still don't stand up against many other pure platformers that i listed or were released during that era.

I did actually play the Rocket Knight on PS3. It was sh!t compared to the Sonic games on Genesis Collection.

Figures when they finally make a Sonic game where Tails actually has a decent role the F*** it up. Just got a few weeks before they blame it on the side-cast, and focus why to much on Sonic again.

It is a shame SEGA was on a role, I don't know why people are blaming the console when its not the console itself that is to blame. SEGA making bad Sonic games is sadly not new news.

Well I kind of expected that. Game looked like ass despite the galaxy ambitions, didn't understand why people where so confident it would be good.
