To bad, I hoped they learnt from their faults in Episode 1

ArchoNils2

according to the ign opinion they did fix what was wrong with 1 physics and said the game works great. However the review sounded kinda retarted since they said even though its fixed you just feel like your playing sonic and thats wasint enough for them. THey said some magic was missing that was never explained in the review. Dam thing just made bang my head against the wall.

Good thing reviewer's opinions don't mean sh!t, pretty much guaranteed to sell well like episode 1.

Personally I think it's the best sonic game since 2 on the genesis.

Only bad thing is that for some dipsh!tted reason they didn't use the generations engine, so it literally just upscales 720p on pc, jaggies and all.

rumbalumba

you have to be kidding me. elemental forcefields >>> homing attack.

The carnival zone is an obligatory -20 to sonic 3's score.

If you liked the Adventure games, then there's no reason to give Generations the shaft when it's far superior in gameplay, level layout and design, camera angles, and music.

burgeg

nah generations sucks they ruin classic sonic by putting him in the same room as that cuunt

Oh the Sonic haters never cease to make me laugh. The idiocy is truly astounding.

But anyway, I'm kinda glad this game is actually getting the reviews it deserves unlike Episode 1. Maybe next time Sega will actually put some effort in to the next 2D Sonic. So many critics were fooled by the "2D Sonic must be good. 3D Sonic bad." mentality when reviewing Episode 1. It astounds me that Ep1 actually had a smiliar metascore to the fantastic Sonic Colours. In fact the Wii version has a higher metacore! It was mediocre at best, but now it seems the critics are actually opening their eyes and seeing Sonic 4 for what it is. Kinda like how when the Sonic Adventure games first came out the critics were blinded by "ZOMG Sonic in 3D!" when the games were actually mediocre at best, but when they were re-released on Gamecube critics actually opened their eyes.

Oh, and as usual I'm agreeing with Renegade Fury in a Sonic discussion. Generations is waaaaaaaaay better than both SA games. Oh nostalgia, how you do blind so many people. Sigh.

nah bro i play quake live and have ultra shaft u r no match for me do u even lift bro get back 2 the wading pool also sa1 is bettar cause ucan spam spindash sa2 can burn in hell

I despised all the 3d chase parts of the levels. So to me 1/3 of the game is trash.

A lot of the 2d levels modeled after old 3d levels weren't that great either.

Didn't read any reviews for it, but the only problem I had with it was the engine's inability to render natively at 1080p and use anti-aliasing.

Even the "good" Sonic games these days are meh. I thought Generations was a passable platformer at best. It's really such a shame, considering how much I love the old Sonic games and even liked Adventure 1 and 2 quite a bit.

i've hated every single 3d sonic game apart from generations.

Generations honestly nailed it when it came to being a sonic game.

Level design on certain stages.

Only issue I had was one underwater section with those robots that make impassable frozen barriers.

I don't even know how I beat some of the 3d chase stages/bosses in generations.

I didn't say it was hard, just that I had no f'ing clue what I did to beat them.

The last boss especially sticks out. Beat him first try, took something like 15 minutes.

No idea how I did it.

Collect enough rings to survive, hold boost and mash A near him. Though it's a pretty poor boss so I agree with that.

I also died more in Sonic 4 Episode 2 than Generations as well.

Renegade_Fury

The only thing you have is Camera Angles. Music is rehashed, stages are rehashed with some glitches and some annoying layouts. The only real problem wth the Adventure games for example were camera angles. And the controller.

Well it's an anniversary game so of course the music is just remixes, and the stages even if they are based off old ones, are designed and play completely differently. If you think the only thing the Adventure games have wrong is the camera angles, you are blinded with nostalgia. It's slow, clunky, and broken with characters falling off the screen to their deaths. Then on top of it, there are needless fetch quest and shooting levels which have nothing to do with Sonic. Generations is fast and seamless, which is a far cry from the relic that the Adventure games are.

No I am not blinded by anything, the following 8 Sonic games played worse and had everything you just complained about except they all had a better camera. you are comparing Adventure to a game that just came out within a year.

How about they just finish Sonic 4 and put it on a nice retail box. Might actually sell more.

meh, wasn't really expecting much

as for generations vs adventure, I'm with shockwave. I prefer the sonic/shadow levels from SA2B to the 3d levels of generation and even the 2d ones, and it's not nostalgia because the sonic/shadow levels hold up well to this day. plus it has the chao garden. however the shooting and treasure hunting is pretty weak

Now SA1 seems pretty terrible based on the xbl demo.

Renegade_Fury

Then you're crazy as him. I just played Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 literally after I just posted that along with some other Genesis and Dreamcast games. They're both utter jittery **** The slightest touch on the analog and you die. All the love for those games lie in the atmosphere and nostalgia because the gameplay is unbelievably crappy.

well i also went back and replayed some SA2 after i made my post. and saying it holds up well to this day was something of an overstatement but i still don't think generations is better, and i would like to see them go the adventure route again, just fine tune the controls and camera.

Sad to see such a low score for yet another game for Sonic 4.

I was wondering, am I the only one who wants to see SEGA create a new game in the Alex Kidd series? SEGA could really make it work, it seems they can't capture that sense of speed for Sonic games but Alex Kidd is more of a traditional platformer therefore easier to achieve. I really believe if done right Alex Kidd could become a popular DD franchise. Hell I also want to see proper 3D big budget release afterwards. It's about time for the original SEGA mascot to make a return.

And yes Im currently enjoying the DD release of Alex Kidd in Miracle World :D

I can't for the life of me understand why anybody would want the overworlds and clunky non-Sonic gameplay modes again.

I thought this Sonic 4 episode looked better than the first (just because it looked a tiny bit fresher) but not much. These episodes still strike me as generic and perfunctory. Unlike Colors (and Generations from what I can tell), it doesn't seem like any real passion has gone into these projects.

Episode 1 and 2 are no where near up to a quality standard for a full retail boxed game.
