Sony and Nintendo disappoint again.

It's been confirmed that Sony and Nintendo will be skipping Gamscom this year.

That just leaves MS and Xbox to carry the show this year, and there are some suggestions that MS might show some other games.

Seems Sony and Nintendo don't care about engaging with their audiences and instead just want to save a few dollars by doing their sterile digital shows.

It's weird because Sony is like a cult in Europe and for them not to show up just shows they know they can abuse their fans and they will still come running.

Nintendo I sorta understand as they can capture their audience (kids) with cutesy colourful games on tv.

Still, it's disappointing that companies don't want to do in person shows and show appreciation for their audiences.

What Sony has been doing after they released Ragnarok is to test how low they can go before their fans form a riot.

Unfortunate. I’m guessing that they’ll be having their own showcase and direct around that time.

Nintendo almost never attends GamesCom.

I respect Xbox for trying even though sales showed Xbox Series selling less than original Xbox in some parts of europe like France. Build a solid foundation now especially during PS being this inactive with their fanbase. nintendo is a cult.

Never, but i do intend to create such a powerful riot by the end of the year that Sony will be forced to released TLOU3 and TLOU4 at the same time. Watch.

If Nintendo were to attend Gamescom, I bet most people would assume that is where the Switch 2 will be announced. So if Nintendo went without the Switch 2 announcement, people would feel disappointed.

But it does make me wonder when the Switch 2 will actually be announced. Nintendo said it will be before the end of next financial year, so how will they announce it? E3 is now out of the picture, so will it be another Nintendo Direct?

@lavamelon: That would be the fault of the attending audience for making assumptions, not Nintendo's.

Besides, Nintendo said they had nothing to show at their own direct, so why would people expect to see it at Gamescom and not their own show.

@last_lap: True, you are correct on that. I guess some people are hyped up for a Switch 2 announcement that anything will get them excited for it. I myself feel very eager for it too.

There's either one of two things going on:

A) Sony is keeping their big heavy hitters so they can wow people and coerce them into buying an unnecessary PS5 pro.

B) Sony isn't showing anything because they don't have anything.

I think they have very little and anything they do have, they are saving for PS5 Pro

I'm currently play the Last of Us on PS4, I own every console from Sony except for the PS5 and own just about every Nintendo console except for the NES (it broke) and the Switch.

I mean.. they're good if you want to control games less, sit back and just be spoonfed a story..? I find it extremely annoying, but that's me.

Haven't really heard the gunplay to be shit too. Just heard that "the gameplay that's there is fantastic". Guess that's not true either then.

So many climbing sections, and the damn climbing buttons seems to only work when it wants to. The enemy AI is as brainless as it gets, Ellie can stand there and the enemy walks right past and doesn't even see her, it's been programmed to only react once it sees Joel. The gameplay/gunplay is so clunky, as for the story I just skip the cutscenes, I don't have time for that shit.

Then there's the masterful programming where Ellie follows you around and when you enter a room looking for rations, find none and go to leave only for Ellie to be standing in the doorway ALL THE TIME, its frustrating, now imagine it when there is 2 people following you (has done so twice now and im only like halfway through) I hope that's it. There is other stuff but I don't want to write a book about it lol.

I am going to finish it though (well that's my intention)

You really need to play it to experience how bad the actual game is.

@last_lap: Sounds great. Tried God of War once. The beginning consisted of 2 hours, no joke, 2 hours of nothing but cutscenes, walking, talking and QTEs. It made me fucking angry, lol. Could've watched an actual movie, or played something.

Seeing these Nintendo directs proves to me that I just don't care for Nintendo games apart from metriod prime. I've had enough of Zelda and mario. Ms has much more interesting content for me.

So, you enjoy Sony & Nintendo not treating its customer to a live show at least once a year when they make billions and can clearly afford it, things like meet & greets, playable demos of the games they show etc. And being sociable is not 1996 its, past, present & future.

But I know i'm talking to someone who only likes SP games with collectable dolls so you're not even what it's like to be sociable.

Sony must be holding something back for the ps5 pro reveal.

After seeing the Xbox showcase and the amount of games that were missing that could have been shown you can't blame them really...i mean xbox could have thrown a blade trailer,a contraband or clockwork revolution sneak peak or towerborn even an outer worlds 2...but that works have been just cruel to the console sales counters 🤣😂

I guess the question for me is, what could Sony, Nintendo, or even Microsoft show when they've already shown their cards? I sincerely doubt they would have held back during their respective showings just to announce/show more at Gamescon.

I wonder if gamers are having too high an expectation of what they will see in the gaming events. I just see the Nintendo Direct, for example, as the online infomercial that it is and I never had high expectations on what I will see in it.

MS has announced AND shown Everwild, Contraband & Towerborne in the past, so there's 3 games they could show. Now I doubt Everwild will be shown, but Contraband is a possibilty and Towerborne would be the one that would likely appear at Gamescom should the rumours of MS showing more be true.

Nintendo could have demos of the games they showed. As for Sony, well we all know they shit the bed with their 15 live service games mantra by 2025 only for it to fall in a heap and Jimbo getting pushed out the door. Having said that cows literally blew their load when Sony showed the title screen for Ragnorok a few years back now, so a title screen would keep cows happy lol.

@lavamelon: Another Nintendo Direct, definitely. It's how they revealed the Switch. Nintendo had a Direct in October 2016, then dropped the console in March 2017. Makes sense for them to follow the same formula.

More memorable that way to. Reason why the crowd goes nuts seeing those characters at a show. Look at kratos in God of war 2018 show. Best reveal ever.

It's true, the gunplay is baby like when compared to other games, gameplay of walking across boards, climbing up ledges, Ellie's AI is dumb af always standing in doorways etc, enemy AI is also dumb af. So many walking and talking sections.

I don't care if you get teh feelz over the story, its nothing special, but I can't see why you like it because there's a Sony logo on the cover 🤦‍♂️

But im talking to one of the biggest cows on here, so I know im talking to a brick wall.

Nintendo doesn't have much since they don't want to talk about the new console, it's understandable.

Sony, on the other hand, is weirder but at this point it's clear they seriously messed up their production pipeline. Once the live service thirst hit them they got delirious.
