Arriving too late, imo. Most people I know that spent far too much time on COD have now stopped. I don't know a single person that wasn't disappointed with MW3.

Haters said the same damage control when GTA on PSP released (why should I play this game when I can sit comfortably in my couch and play it on my PS2 blah blah).
The game turned out one of the PSP's best sellers.

I also dont think its particularly health for a platform to have one game or franchise be its only life line or means of sustainance.
MOnster hunter wasnt always a bit hitter, it was a new IP at one point.

Well however you look at it, $60 ain't $300
Slashkice
I was referring more to the associated fees of the CoD experience. Most players don't seem to bat an eyelash at the DLC, Elite fees, or Live fees (if they're playing on the 360); not to mention the various limited and special editions every year. Paying $250 for a system that lets them keep their addiction on them at all times doesn't seem like it'd faze them much.
Though we could sit and swap numbers all day, the fact remains that Call of Duty is *the* mega franchise in the west and thus carries the kind of swag to sway players.
CoD is a franchise recognised on consoles and not handhelds. Those who want to play CoD will simply stay at home, otherwise they'll be doing something else when they're not home. CoD won't do much for Sony.

While I think its time has passed(COD), I do think that had it been said Vita would launch with the game, it would sell like crazy. All that would have to happen would be, "play your COD "career"()on the road. Level up on the road to increase your xp/etc."

I never stated it will hurt the platform; it won't.
All I've ever said in the thread is that Call of Duty on Vita is not going to move the Vita as much as something like Mario/Mario Kart/Pokemon. The mentality of Call of Duty fans makes me think they will not get a Vita; they'll be better off playing it on their PS3.
Also my point still stands - Sony has nothing that can move units as much as a Mario/Pokemon title internally; they've had success with Monster Hunter in Japan, but so has Nintendo (and worldwide with the MHTri).
Yup, truly awesome.from my personal experiance i would say no. I havent played any Wii FPS though but i tried Killzone 3 with a move and it was far inferior to the dual analogues. It works extremely well, especially if you give it time and mess around with the settings to your liking. Better than lame dual analogue[QUOTE="OreoMilkshake"][QUOTE="zarshack"]Wii controls for a FPS? I think i've seen that arguement before...

Considering FPS are one of the most popular genres this gen, you have no basis whatsoever in your claims that it won't push units.
It's a big wildcard. I can understand why people are scared.
[QUOTE="campzor"]nintendo might as well just stop distributing 3ds...soon as vita launches its game over. The little kids in primary/high school will be too busy playing cod at lunchtime super600
The game will end up being irrelevant like the PSP cod game.
A lot of ppl don't play shooters on psp with the missing analog but said they would if there was another. Also psp only got older cod which don't sell as well, now if it was a MW it might have done better.Considering FPS are one of the most popular genres this gen, you have no basis whatsoever in your claims that it won't push units.

The Vita has the same power as a PS3, the DS does not. COD on Vita looks like COD on consoles, so it will sell the platform like hot cakes!

Another platform for me to ignore CoD on.

This was true for Monster Hunter at a point. Discounting the game before an actual attempt is made is jumping the gun.
Monster Hunter never found its popularity on consoles like CoD did. That's the fundamental difference.

You can swap the example for Mario if you want. The point is the Vita has the tools to make a portable CoD experience work for the first time on the go - just because it has it has its current popularity on consoles does not make it impossible for it to succeed elsewhere as well.
Mario is also a bad example but regardless the thing that makes CoD so successful is online multiplayer which you kind of have to be in a place with internet for. If you are it stands to reason that if your playing CoD you are doing it on a console where all the community is and the best experience is possible. I am willing to wait and see but I'm not expecting much tbh.

I won't deny that people find it fun, I personally just don't. Played a lot better, much less derivative, more evolution intensive series than CoD. Its the same damn thing over and over.

The community thing won't be an issue if they're smart about it and do synchronous cross-play multiplayer with the PS3. Ironically, since the Vita has party chat it can provide a better community experience than the PS3. Wi-fi availability is a fair point; ideally 3g would work but who knows. It's fine to be wary about it though, as I'm not saying it will succeed, just that it has the tools to succeed.
If 3G was possible for online play I would agree with you but Sony specifically said that gaming over 3g is not possible. But again I'm willing to wait and see.
Here is IGN's wishlist for the Vita CoD game and what they want to see added for it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhIY0tTzogk
I wouldn't mind these games being ported to the Vita...
Crysis
Killzone (new)
Starhawk / Warhawk
Borderlands
Unreal Tournament
Dead Space (omg)
Mass Effect (omgomg)
Dragon Age
Skyrim (3DS gets donated)

3G technology doesn't allow for that to happen.
The 3G model is useless, especially if you have a smartphone, there's no point. Plus, in the US there's a data limit of 20MB of download, so that's not even enough to download a game onto your Vita, you're limited to like a day of web browsing.
Plus, no idea why they'd go with a 3G version when LTE and 4G are going to fade out 3G anyway.

Schools. Colleges. The prevalence of WiFi is growing. Besides I thought one of the things that made MonHun popular in Japan was co-op multiplayer play.As mentioned, community isn't an issue if it's done right.
I would say as a franchise, CoD, or as a genre, FPS, are perfectly suited to bursts of play.
Do people really think there isn't a market for a proper fully-featured portable Call of Duty?

There has never been a handheld that replicates console-FPS controls/graphics until Vita.
CoD may be just thesecond (after Resistance)in the FPS lineup. I'm pretty sure more and more developers will follow suit if it turns out profitable.
You and every doubters have the right to be scared.

How amusing that cows, who are always talking about the Shooterbox, are so desperate they are relying on friggin COD to save their precious doomed vita.
Until you try Analog+Gyro combo :)its proably going to be a whole new game...They said that there going to innovate...this is not why im getting a vita
