Bottom line is Sony can not win this race EVER against MS.

MS is going to release a new system every 5 years. And the public has accepted the FACT that MS has GREAT games. and SPECTACULAR online. And I've been saying it for a longtime now that MS has a user base locked in with Live and should have 10million subscribed customers locked in by the end of 360. And it will ony continue to grow. And the developers know that MS is a software company. So they know they will always get the best and better development tools.

And MS has endless CASH PERIOD.

MS will always be ahead of Sony releasing game systems now. And they will swoop up the public majority user base everytime from Sony.

Just use logic you can clearly see it going this way.

And the public has seemed to say no prob we accept a new system from MS every 5 years and we want the best online and graphics every 5 years.

And when no more MGS games and FF ending also or defiantly going multiplat. Sony really can not win this system race ever again.

They've made peanuts compared to how much they've actually spent. If they continue to bring in the same profit margin, it'll take them some 60 years to regain what they put back in.

As for the future, MS isn't going to win this gen no matter how much you think they will. They'll have to invest more money into their next console and hope they win the next gen. That means more money being poured into their Xbox division. If they go for their razors strategy once more, expect billions of losses once again.

EDIT EDIT of course thats assuming you actually believe the company's numbers. As microsoft did earlier this year, Sony have apparently swamped the market in an effort to make it appear that sales have boomed. While this looks great for a short while they'll run into the same issue MS did when they said they'd sold 10 mil and then it appears there sales all but stopped. If you flood the retailers it then appears like there isminimal demand in subsequent months.

Not really. The PS3 is still hanging in there even though everything is wrong with the console.

The PS3 was the result of the old managment of Sony getting arrogant. Now guess what? THey are all gone. Either replaced or retired before the PS3 was a huge failure under them.

The new guys have made major changes to the system to make it marketable. Next gen Sony will learn and make a better console.

This is like the equivalent of the Gamecube for Sony. They made a ton of mistakes with the console early on and couldn't come back, but some adjustments and they retook the lead.

M$ can never win the gaming wars. They can always give others a run for their money, but look at both of their systems: they both started out seen as "the next thing in technology" only to get beaten by Sony of Nintendo. The Wii has already demolished the 360, and the PS3 is selling more than what the 360 was in its first year or so. 360 was first and it already is being overtaken. why? because M$ does NOT have gaming system experience. They rushed the 360 and screwed up. Even with a widely installed base, they are still losing money to the huge number of repairs they have to make to their system.

these topics are stupid. buy what you want and enjoy it. i think a lot of the 360 owners are just getting testy now that their system isn't dominating. and just a bit jealous of the Wii's success and the Playstation's "one-up" tendency with M$.

We as gamers need Sony to survive in the V.G. business just to keep MS honest but...

Yeah - with MS in the GAME, Sony shall not ever again find themselves in the same position they were in battling Sega & Nintendo last Gen.

Sony, with MS in the Game is going to have to actually deliver the goods and the Name-Brand "Sony " alone is not going to be enough - YAY !!!

Sony has basically won this war without even trying, when bluray wins the war alot of people will be buying bluray plays and ps3 will be the choice for most, so there goes a ton of sales JUST for the BR player, HDDVD is slowly dieing which will cause the 360 to go obsolete, damn I dont understand how any of you can actually think the 360 will make it past 2009,

360 is NOW(well not anymore really LOL maybe 3 months ago) and the ps3 is THE FUTURE(well not anymore either, PS3 is NOW with uncharted and tons of games coming out in Q1 08 )

And heres one for all the xbots who seem to think we have to wait for everything, WELL..

good games take time, you see why mass flop was only 12 hours long? because it was RUSHED, FF13 will be 100+ hours and MGS4 will be 70+ hours,

You obviously know nothing about the hddvd/br war, go back to your basement kid, they dont even sell HDDVD players in stores anymore, the only people who are supporting it is toshiba and one other company(I forgot the name) but they are only supporting it because microsoft paid them a TON of cash, the rest are supporting bluray
