@flyincloud1116: I disagree. Titles are supposed to be in Caps. However, it isn't always common practice in online forums. That said, you posted it correctly except for the words "A", "In", and "The."

Anyways though, I'm not looking for a fight, just trying to figure out where you say he is abusing caps... He didn't abuse them in the post, unless it was edited before I read it.

I'm not really sure why I felt the need to post this like the damn grammar police... :P Must have been because of the frowny face.

Carry on with the Chlorophyll.

Now with the topic of a more powerful PS4 in the future. I would say very highly unlikely for a whole mess of reasons financially and possibly fracturing their fan base. Not because you couldn't play on either, but because a certain percentage of those who wouldn't want to upgrade would feel slighted and move on.

Thread title- "Sony considering release of a more powerful PS4"

Thread quote- "Ito stressed that Sony has no immediate plans to introduce a technically superior PS4 model; he also explained that the bigger question is if Sony would actually want to do this at all."

I found a picture of OP:

Sony has some strong exclusives like Uncharted and The Last of Us, if this was Microsoft i'd just sell my XONE and play on PC since they don't have any exclusives which will be missed, this isn't the case with Sony though...

@flyincloud1116 said:

"That's according to Sony Computer Entertainment senior vice president Masayasu Ito, who was asked for his thoughts in a new interview about offering a new PS4 model with better performance sometime down the road."

"Speaking with Japanese gaming publication 4Gamer, as translated by DualShockers, Ito said because the PS4 uses X86 architecture (unlike the PlayStation 3's Cell processor), improvements to performance can be made over time. However, Ito stressed that Sony has no immediate plans to introduce a technically superior PS4 model; he also explained that the bigger question is if Sony would actually want to do this at all.

Offering a beefier PS4 model would conceivably split the PS4 audience, which doesn't sound like something Sony would want to do at this stage with the PS4 enjoying such strong sales and momentum. Whether or not Sony would have some solution to fracturing its audience remains to be seen. It's also important to note that Ito was speaking hypothetically after he was asked a direct question. Still, he said releasing a higher-power PS4 model alongside the existing one is an idea that "might be considered."

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/high-power-ps4-model-something-sony-might-consider/1100-6431669/

Sega 32x comes to mind, but it still sound interesting.

IF Nintendo delivered GoFlo 14nm at PS4's 365 mm^2 size APU, that's about 4X the power of PS4 i.e. 4K gaming territory. It may force Sony to follow i.e. PS4 mostly-4K edition and older PS4 mostly-1080p edition.

PS4 mostly-4K edition would be backwards compatible to the older PS4.

Higher grade AMD Tonga/Hawaii/Fury GCNs and PS4's IGP shares 8 ACE model GPU front end designs AND PS4's APIs are similar to AMD's Mantle hence the hardware upgrade is not a big issue.

AMD already designed the upgrade path for Sony.

AMD Fury with 14 nm GloFo or 16 nm TSMC chip area size would be similar to 28nm Pitcairn i.e. PS4's baseline GPU.

if it's simply to enhance visuals when using a 3D device and/or to add or enhance 4K capabilities then I'm not too concerned

The article doesn't say Sony is considering such a stupid thing. In fact, the source even doesn't see a reason to.

All they said was that it was technically possible which, no shit Sherlock.

Completely false, no such thing was stated as the title suggests. The PS4 stays the same and stomping xbox harder and harder each year.

Thread title is misleading.

He clearly states "he also explained that the bigger question is if Sony would actually want to do this at all."

They aren't really considering it.

Greatly doubt it, but wouldn't entirely rule it out.

Keep in mind that these are the kinds of decisions that got Sega into trouble back in the day.

It'd be awesome if people in here actually read the article. Sony are not really considering this, at all...

Is this the first topic that we've universally agreed upon?

this would pretty much be a screw you to anyone that bought the original.

they should do it would be funny to see all the cows here turn on each other.

" your weak underpowered original ps4 is holding us super cows back." You know it would happen. Cows would eat each other.

LMAOL

I Disagree with it screwing original owners of the PS4 though. As long as the original gets the same games at 900P 30fps and the SuperPS4 can play those same games at 1080P 60fps it should all be good. Most people won't spend the extra $100-$200 for the upgrade anyway. I would bite. Sony give us a 3.6 TF's and an improved CPU that plays all PS4 games at 1080P 60fps and I would pay $500. That's an extra $150 over the current PS4 and putting this together might cost Sony an extra $100. While we're at it M.S. should triple the performance of the XB1 to 3.9 TF's and improve that CPU too. I'd pay $500 for that too.

will never happen. they already have a 25 million install base on the ps4, they won't split them up.

@EG101: only it probably wouldnt be an upgrade you would have to buy the entire new console all over again.

Well if they don't give a way to upgrade your current console then I'm still ok with this. rather have the option than Not. everyone's current console continues to work and people that purchase the Super model get better performance.

I would like a console with good exclusives in the future.
