The interview is long but the link above is to the discussion about the XSX SSD
Other good stuff in the video too (mostly about PS5)
How could they do the same thing on x-series when games are stil being developed for the original xb1 for the next 2 years?
It wouldn't be able to run on xb1 so they would have to scale it back like halo infinite.
Ratchet and Spiderman use ray tracing and SSD's to bring worlds to life and let you instantly transport from place to place you gotta build for next gen only if you want to compete with these kind of games. Theres no way they can get miles Morales or ratchet to work on ps4.

where in my OP do I mention the XB1???
That said, not everything that is coming out will be cross platform. They announced a few games so far that will only be XSX

(The Medium for example releases for console only on the XSX Holiday 2020)
No it can not because it is held back. The game could not function unless it was ONLY on the XSX or XSS. The whole 2-3 year thing and playing on different devices will always hold it back. Until they take full usage of the SSD and stop catering to devices with slower loading things like that will not be possible.

Yeah man I was wondering about that one. I didn't think there was any way this gen Xbox games could pull that off. I didn't realize they announced it was an XSX exclusive. That's cool.

Look at this anti consumer crap bs propoganda peddled here. On PC you don't see anyone panicking or thinking crazy things like the old 580's and 1060's are going to hold back next gen.
The old consoles will not hold back next gen. They will just run like crap and in some cases not be able to run certain games, so they won't be able to be released on the older consoles. Not complicated.
Same thing occurs with cell phones. The older phones can play games in lower settings until eventually a new game comes out that they can't run at all. No need to cry over this, just upgrade your phone when that starts happening. At least with Xbox when you upgrade to next gen you still own all the games you purchased. With PS5 no, you get milked instead.
They could make tlou 2 on the bonex, but they didn't.
Thankfully. What a trainwreck that game is lol.
@Xplode_games: pc does not set the pace for graphics technology, like it or not consoles do. Until we start seeing dozens of PC exclusives that have high recommended specs they will always just be console hand-me-down games. The same reason that even though SSD's have been a thing on PC for years, loading times and game design hasn't changed. The reason for that is because they weren't on console.
3tflops difference is two PS4's taped together. If just one ps4 can achieve TLOU2 visuals, just imagine what 2 could do, not to mention that the cpu is also stronger. Tormy has been lying to us all with his 5-15% performance difference. Probably working for another liar, Mr Cerny.
The difference between the two is so big, that the 3tflops gap is almost strong enough to have its own console, which is the rumored Series S, which has 1 more tflop. Totally groundbreaking.
@i_p_daily: Oh so you played it? Oh you didn't and like usual youre talking out of your ass, not really surprising.
The internet played it long before you cows ever did, the story leaked and it sucked, no surprise there. You cows were warned well in advance, but you didn't listen, no surprise there lol.

I seriously chuckled. Keep this up and you can come very close to cup.

does not work like that. 1 to 2 teraflops is not = 2x the power. going from 1 teraflop to 10 teraflops does not = 10x more powerful. why on earth people think this? strong enough to have its own console lol.
look at the pro vs ps4. games that 1 teraflop vs 4. your not getting x4 the performance are we? nope. games still struggle to run 4k/30 fps nevermind 4k/60. same with xbox one x vs xbox one. your not getting 6x the power are we nope.
its the cpu that is getting the most love this gen for both systems. no more jaguar cpu crap next gen either. the xbox one and ps4 got sound from the cpu taking up cpu power.

I know it's a special kind of hurt to know that your nemesis is still supporting it's platform at the end of it's lifecycle while your beloved company murdered the theirs, but for the sake of sanity can you at least have some dignity in defeat?

Are you saying next gen games will require an 8 core 16 thread Zen2 level CPU, a minimum of 5700 XT GPU and an M.2 fast SSD to even run them?
If not, then why isn't PC holding back next gen?
@i_p_daily: only a moron like you thinks watching YouTube’s = playing a game.
El tormented is going to take offense. He's the king of watching youtube videos and pretending that's the same as playing. Watch what you say quack, you're going to offend your bovine brothers.

so your saying a level design around the ssd this gen will not affect pc players that have a hdd when the game is ported over?
the tricks these developers use to get there level design to work with hhd will not be there if they make the game around the ssd. not one game today has been made with just a ssd in mind. so if this gen the ps5 games will be centered on the ssd. taking out force walking parts or level design they use now for there games.
look up games that require a ssd. you won't find any. so if these games start to require ssd pc gamers will have to have certain ssd speeds to play them.
consoles control the pc market now. the tech goes as far as consoles of couse you can have a more powerful machine but the games arn't built around those specs. it sucks for pc players now because of it. back in the day pc had those exclusive games and more of them. crysis anyone.
consoles are holding back the pc industry now. so its good they have ssd in them now.
In a perfect world, we would get Sony 1st party games on good hardware like the Xbox One X and Series X. Usually competition brings out the best in companies. Instead, we are watching Sony and Microsoft stumble. Sony forgot how to win a hardware arms race while Xbox is busy running the quality franchises they do have into the ground.
I’m sure Ratchet could work on Series X. In fact I would prefer it. But instead I’ll be playing games from 2001-2018 on the worlds most powerful console. And this will be the case for some time... 😒
I mean Sony already talked about plans to reduce loading in-game by designing game worlds into sections and buffer adjacent area assets in a way that makes it seamless. I imagine such techniques could be universal.
This is fake by the way fast forward to 1:01.30 when he is asked about DLSS and if they are going to use it on PS5 you can clearly see he has no idea of what to say, when we already know DLSS is not supported either on xbox or PS.
Lemmings are a joke and a BIG 🤣 to all those who jumped on this without even checking first.
Call me when sony or anyone of you can confirm DLSS on PS5.
🤣

Poor you, listened to whole thing.
What isn't fake is that Ratchet and Clank can easily run on the Series X. <insert my previous comment here>
