With the New Xbox Experience coming in a couple weeks, Microsoft brought the casual experience home before Sony did.

And they did it in far less time!

Sony unveiled their Home program with the Mii's earlier this year, and Microsoft already beat them to the end with a new program with their own Mii's!

And Sony's Home is still nowhere to be found.

Unfortunate really how a slow development time can ruin your megatons.:(

The majority of PS3 owners will not even use Home. The 360's "mii's" don't look that great either.

Okay, but:

A.) Are we assuming that "casual gamers" are five-year-old kids with the attention span of a lollipop and a fondness for goofy "avatars"?

B.) Sony's not forcing it on the consumer.

I don't mind Microsoft changing the Dashboard Interface, and I've seen videos and it looks quite nice. I just hate those stupid avatars.

The failure began with the price of the Ps3 and then the lack of genres it lacked with. Home is a complete joke, they should've utilized something unique like facebook or other unique applications instead they have some weird virtual world that's lifeless. Home is nowhere like "Home"

Home is far too ambitious.. And to top it off, Sony has no where near the user-base they need to make it successful. By the time Home releases, the new xbox experience will have stole most of it's thunder.

Sony should have played it much closer to the vest. I fully understand why its taken so long, but Sony mucked it up by announcing it in what, 2006, and still not having it out.

Announce it when its much closer to launch, not when its still a concept.

One of Sony's probelms is they announce things so far off in time that they piss people off. Like why announce something that's going to be loaded with delays when they should announce something close that is prepared to actually make it's release date. Have they ever made a legitmate relase date without some sort of delay. Look st what Microsoft and Nintendo are doing. At least they deliver.

Right, approximately 16 million users isnt a big enough fanbase for home :? By all means feel free to explain you logic or lack there of :( If sony had 10,000 users online, thats more than enough for home. Its not like WoW or Warhammer where server population dictates how enjoyable the game is. Home is an extra feature you are free to use. Even if you only see 100 people on home, it wont hurt you much because you can still join and play games with people who dont have home :|

M$ has been out a full year longer than Sony, so they actually did it with MORE TIME. Still, I hear what you are saying, Sony's ambition was a bit much, but from what I'm hearing, HOME is coming when NXE hits.

You may actually want to make this thread when one or the other actually is out.

lol a year isnt really that long in the video game world. most games take longer to develop and home is basically being made like a game with all the different features and ideas they're putting into it.

Sony did drop the ball, but lets be honest here. Would you have rather had a broken Home released prematurely, or waited for a working version? Im willing to wait for quality...I just wish other companies realized that and didnt release broken products... *cough*stalker*cough*microsoft*cough*

The PS3 is failure because its not any better when it comes to games then the 360.

Plain and simple. It was supposed to "smoke" the 360 and yet it can barely compete.

Me personally? Neither. I have no desire to use Home. Frankly, it looks dull and uninteresting to me.

And what difference does it make what the excuse is? In the end, Sony hosed their own product before it even had a chance.

Avitars are not force, they're optional.

But the rest of the horrible update that organize the 360 dash board better for ease for locating things on the 360 and xbox live, makes the interface fast and allowing Netflicks in HD with a hdvi, vga or hd component cables are mandatory.

Oh what horrible things that they force on us. What ever will we do?

A year is a huge time frame for a product that recieved the attention that Sony showed to Home. You don't hype something up, and then letit sit for a year+. That kills all momentum and excitement.

i dont know if you know this but lately the ps3 has been selling more than the 360 worldwide unitl late because the 360 had a price cut and some big jrpgs and games released on the 360. so yes its competing and either way sony is all about the 10 year plan the ps2 and psx didnt even have their big name titles out unitl year 3 or later.and as im sure youve realized by the stream of quality ps3 games being released recently the ps3 is starting to hit its stride. so its doing well right now and will continue to do so in the future.

Well, quiet a few people are still excited about it so I dont think they hosed they own product before it even had a chance. While you may not care much for Home, alot of people will be interested in it. I know one of the main reasons my sister is buying a PS3 is for LBP and Home. Seems like a waste, but she is one of those people who played The Sims just to make a house, and then they never really used the characters. Home does sumthing that makes alot of MMOs popular, allows user customization. In the online world, everyone wants to be different. Home allows you to create your own unique avatar, dress them up in your own unique clothing, and decorate your own unique home. This is very popular with alot of gamers! Contrary to what you may think, stats arent the only reason people on WoW want Illidans armor. Its also a status symbol, and it looks badass. Same applies to home. If you unlock new furniture or attire depending on which games u play/ how well u do in a game, I could see this being very popular with gamers.

Beating a game qould be akin to completing a raid in WoW then when you walk in your Home square you could show off your new "gear" to everyone around you. I think Home could be very popular. You may not be excited, but alot of people are.

I agree....Sony failed when Microsoft gave the news of how soon XBOX owners were getting the XBE. Made the term waitstation even more hilarious when I heard the news. Anywhoo..I'll have both, so who cares.

Did you buy your console for dress ups? or for gaming? as logan said the majority of ps3 owners wont even use home.

I highly doubt this, what do gamers do in these downtime? Home is something that you can do then

NXE is fail. there's nothing to it other than movie rentals which could be loaded in a patch, they don't need this metrosexual avatar B.S.

So, Sony failed just because of New Xbox Experience coming out?! Are you kidding me? :lol:GaMeR_Willz

You are kidding yourself.

Sony failed to bring it's community solution before Microsoft, even though they announced theirs first. Because of constant delays, Microsoft won the race.

I agree, Sony did fail. They were coming in with the biggest brand name and they have barely kept up in sales, and that they even managed to do that is based solely on brand name alone (some people will always stick with a certain brand just because they are loyal)

Fanboys.

Do you really need to bash the Playstation Home? When 360 copies everything form nintendo and Sony?

The only innovation i see from 360 is its online, which already on teh xbox.
