Sony fanboys need to brush up on their PS2 History 101

Why are Sony fanboys now trying to claim that the PS2 had a terrible launch like the PS3 and that it had a terrible launch line-up like the PS3.

For myopic little Sony fanboys, you guys suck at PS2 History 101

• PS2 sold 1 million units its first 2 days in Japan. It sold another million its first 2 months.  At the PS3's current rate in Japan, it'll be this time next year before it reaches 2 million.
  
• PS2 sold 1 million units its first 5 weeks in NA.  They launched with 500k units only because one of their manufacturing plants caught fire, but still managed to ship 100k every week after.  PS2 were hard to find until march the following year.
  
• Granted the PS2 launched line-up left a lot to be desired at the time, but it still had 2 AAA titles at launch (Tekken Tag & SSX)

So there you have it.  To say the PS3 is following in the same footsteps as the PS2 is clueless at best.

• The 360 is currently the market leader
• The PS3 is competing for second place against the Wii  ( and losing BADLY) ;)
• Exclusives once enjoyed on the Playstation platform are becoming multi-platform (which benefits the 360)

With the growth we saw in 2006 and no new competition in sight. Everyone wins.

Here is some Playstation 2 history for you. It was released in 2000, and in 2007 there are still new games being released.

Exactly. I agree. But a lot of people are not giving the developers enough time to show us what they can do. It's nice that the Xbox 360 is enjoying great games right now. It's good for the industry period. But we really need to see what the 2nd and 3rd generation of PS3 games are really like before anyone can start saying 'it's a complete failure' TekkenMaster606

Fact: 400,000 was ship at NA launch not 500,000. Still PS3 reach 1 million units faster than the PS2 shungokustasu

As you know, Sony announced last week that on the Oct. 26 U.S. launch of the PlayStation2, only 500,000 units will be available, instead of the one million originally forecast.

That 400k figure you came up with was what the PS3 was suppose to launch with.

Exactly.  Goofy little sony faboys like beyondgamez wanna forget that according to them:

• the 360 was suppose to stop selling once "the true next gen system" launches.
• the PS3 was suppose to launch with more AAA games than the 360 did.
• the PS3 graphics were suppose to blow the 360 graphics away
