Is that seriously a message board? That's your source? Look where you get your "news" at before you go around calling people ignorant, 'kay?
EDIT: And the first word in the article's title is "Rumor".
I think we can all expect Ratchet and Clank to make the cut and more than likely a Chimera even though Insomniac is third party because they would add to the roster AND sell more games for Insomniac.RandomWinnerEven though Insomniac is an independent 3rd party, the Resistance and Ratchet & Clank series are wholly-owned IPs of Sony, making them 1st party games.
So, you can come up with an answer for Solid Snake and Sonic in SSBB, amrite?:| Sure can- "Sakurai said the decision to include Solid Snake when Hideo Kojima himself practically "begged" to include the Metal Gear character in the last Smash Bros. game. When asked about the possibility of Sonic the Hedgehod appearing in the game as well, Shigeru Miyamoto said: "There are probably possibilities for other third parties as well, and it maybe that even know there are corporate discussions going on about including some of these other characters." " http://wii.ign.com/articles/707/707504p1.html[QUOTE="Nintendonly"]...how weak their roster actually is, especially since the characters they list have appeared on Nintendo and/or Microsoft platforms for around a decade now (Cloud and Sephiroth were even in the Nintendo handheld Kingdom Hearts titles!), and sometimes even SEGA platforms (Croc and Tomb Raider). Seriously, if you guys think this game actually has a lick of a chance of doing well, you'd better start coming up with characters actually owned by Sony, because they aren't going to be wasting budget money on licensing for characters that are no longer relevant and aren't theirs.ermacness

Just wanted to point out that neither NES Metal Gear game had Kojima's involvement.forgot_itSo.. is Kojima supposed to be in the game?

I don't think so, except maybe Infamous and Twisted Metal (due fact it's yet to be relsed reanimationasfter long time) lot of them are great games and reasons why hard 360 users buy PS3 "just for Exclusives", you surly heard that in SW a lot lot lot times
[QUOTE="forgot_it"]Just wanted to point out that neither NES Metal Gear game had Kojima's involvement.PhazevarianceSo.. is Kojima supposed to be in the game? He had input in The Twin Snakes, which was a collaboration with Nintendo (Miyamoto and Iwata and the like). And he is currently in charge of Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D's development.
To get back to the argument that the OP tried to make. You'd be lying through your teeth if you say you've read through a "Which third party character should be in Smash Bros" or "Who would you like to see in Smash Bros." thread and never seen fans list characters from Mega Man, Street Fighter, Tales, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, or whatever else happens to be somewhat popular at the time. Those types of threads practically exploded when we found out that Brawl was going to have third party characters.
It's obvious that Sony doesn't have as strong of a first party IP set than Nintendo, that's not news but the thing that Sony does have is a strong relationship with many third parties compared to Nintendo. I wouldn't be surprised to see Crash, Spyro, Snake or even Cloud in this game.

But even without those sony has tons of characters they can use. Enough to fill a game without problem. Killzone,Resistance,Infamous,Ratchet,Jack and daxter,Syphon Filter,God Of war, shadow of the colossus,Ico,ape scape, loco roco, siren,Warhawk,Uncharted,Socom,Sly Cooper, medi evil,Little Big Planet,Spyro. If sony can't get a fighting games from all of those they should quite gaming, and i know there are many more games.
But they are not owned by Sony, so without SE premission they can't bring them on there own table
[QUOTE="forgot_it"]Just wanted to point out that neither NES Metal Gear game had Kojima's involvement.PhazevarianceSo.. is Kojima supposed to be in the game? What? People were mentioning how much Kojima wanted Snake to be in Brawl (and also Melee). Someone brought up the NES games to talk about the Metal Gear Series and it's relation with Nintendo. I was trying to point out that the NES games can't really be considered valid since Kojima had nothing to with Nintendo until Ghost Babel or possibly earlier.

That is right but like i say after that even without those sony has character by the ton,i name like 17 games there,2 characters per game and you have 34 character to choose from. And there are more games i did not even mention.[QUOTE="Phazevariance"][QUOTE="forgot_it"]Just wanted to point out that neither NES Metal Gear game had Kojima's involvement.NintendonlySo.. is Kojima supposed to be in the game? No he's not, why would they need him to direct s port?, you've completely trolled this thread, modnation is known by all as a great game but even if it wasn't how would the fact that there was ratchet, kratos and drake dlc prove that this game will be bad?. Someone needs to give you a slap.
Damn, cows can be so fragile in SW...Nintendo characters get bashed for being "kiddy" all the time here, Microsoft characters get bashed for being gym bunnies and mindless space marines. Buck up system warrior, or I'd suggest you find a kinder, gentler place to discuss games. So the usual Sony haters jump on an start saying how horrible Sony's available cast of charatcers is... How has this thread not been locked? It stink of intentional attacks on others and ignorance.

So we are judging a game when it has no release date, no info, no screenshots, no developing team, etc? Smooth.

i never said the games sucked. i said the characters did. theres a difference.....Yeah with the exception of the Kratos and the Uncharted cast Sony really doesn't have strong characters. That's not to say they don't have very strong and well rounded franchises though.tomarlynWell not all Nintendo characters are as strong as mario either, not all Nintendo games sold like mario or close.
So they're not overloaded with cartoon characters....and this is a bad thing?
I don't know why they're making this tat in the first place.

Characters from those games in a SSB-style fighting game?
And characters in some of the games you listed are not owned by Sony, including Spyro.
Spyro.tormentosSee, you just did it again. Spyro is owned by Vivendi-Universal, parent company to Activision-Blizzard.
My PS3 library consists of IPs owned by Sony and a few multiplats that ended up better on the PS3 (such as Portal 2).
White Knight Chronicles, Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, etc... there is enough variety without the need for 3rd parties.
I think the problem lies in the rating of the games. Nintendo games are rated E mostly with some T, even characters that have weapons like link with his sword feels wacky because in the games the enemies just go poof and dissapear, hence no blood or violence.
Sony on the other hand has God of War, a very violent game, and some games for everyone like Little Big Planet and Jak. Now this poses a problem, should Kratos still be like kratos and tear those characters out with all the blood and gore or go the route Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and turn down the violence thus making their characters distant of what they really are.
Still, if this game does come out I would definitely play it with my friends.

LOL what if microsoft made a fighting game
master cheif
the rioded guy from gears of war
the car from forza
milo from project milo

Some people are so brainwashed that there is no point in arguing.
3rd party companies like SEGA and Konami WANTED their characters in Smash BrosNo 3rd party is going to want their characters in this gameNintendonly
Why?

For Siren, it's actually likely that if they put Japan characters in they would put Kyoya Suda in. He was in a fighting minigame mission in the 2nd game.
For all those saying Sony doesnt have many 1st party characters or that some of these characters (ie Uncharted, Killzon, resistance etc) dont fit in this type of game are completely wrong..
My opinion on this subject
1) First of all Sony has many titles from which to get characters ICO, SOTC, Uncharted, Ratchet&Clank, Syphon Filter, GOW, Killzone, Resistance, Lair, Sly, Dexter, WKC, Heavenly Sword, Jax&Dexter, Warhawk/Starhawk, infamous,Twisted metal & so on..
2) There is nothing wrong with having a few extra characters from 3rd party owned devs to compliment the rooster, considering that many still associate characters such as Snake (MGS), Spyro & Crash Bandicoot to name a few with the Playstation..
3) All characters can fit the game, considering that this type of game is for fun, its not a real fighting simulator.. So can throw in a Nathan Drake with special abilities, or else a Helghan soldier equipped with jetpack and an arsenal of weapons, its only up to creativity/imagination.. For this type of game you dont have to go realistic, but all out bombastic powers/moves :)
Finally why are non PS3 owners/fans concerned should Sony create/release such game, its not like they will play it... Relax and move on :)

Wait so Snake on Smash Bros is Ok But Drake is not.? Did you even know what king of fighting game this game is.? People are assuming is a smash bro type of game because it uses many of sony's characters from different series which wasn't even done first by NIntendo in the first place, but delusional Nintendo fans want to turn the game into a Smash Bro copy without even seeing it,no one knows how this game is or play. It could be like Marvel vs capcom, like Tekken Tag or even Virtual Fighter. And i forgot Spyro change hand, but is about the only game there you will find, and there are games i did not even mention like last Guardian,Wild Arms and several other, sony does has the number of games to make a game with multiple characters only nintendo fans deny this.Wasn't Snake in Brawl, Nintendonly? A Konami character that has appeared on both Sony and Microsoft platforms?
Hideo Kojima begged for the character to be in it. The same can't be said for PlayStation Title Fight. No 3rd party company will be begging to include a character, except for maybe Scorpion from Mortal Kombat which is LOOL worthy at best.Wasn't Snake in Brawl, Nintendonly? And I really want Crash Bandicoot to return, miss the series golden days.

And while i know they are not as known or loved as Mario,it doesn't matter they don't have to be,this game doesn't need to sell 10 million copies or been loved by every sony fan,it just need to be good. Just to give you an example. Kirby on Gamecube sold 1.56 million according to VG charts, the Wii version sold 1.54 million, when you consider that the user base of the wii is almost 4 times as big as the GC one was,you see Kirby did not fare that well, compare that to any mario game on wii or Gamecube and you will see how big the difference is.
